What is Audiense?

Audiense is an Audience Intelligence platform. It aims to help marketers and consumer researchers be innovative and develop relevant audience-centric strategies through the use of proprietary social consumer segmentation whilst providing insights on who they are and how to engage with them in the most meaningful way.

They offer users the choice of 2 products developed for very different needs Audiense Insights: Audience intelligence and segmentation and Audiense Connect (aka SocialBro): A Twitter marketing tool


Audiense Insights allows users to identify and understand any audience, no matter how specific or unique it is. Users can create highly personalised audience segments by combining a variety of filters when creating a report, such as user profiles, affinities, demographics and job roles. With Audiense Insights in hand, the vendor states users can make better marketing decisions, adapt targeting, improve relevancy and drive high-performance campaigns at scale.

Audiense Connect a Twitter Marketing Tool uses the rich audience insights to build and explore communities, identify audiences and engage directly on Twitter at scale via:

Differentiators

Audiense Insights segments audiences by the interconnections that exist among the people (“Who knows who”). Thanks to how those connections are created between consumers (“How they know each other”), Audiense can infer their shared interests and affinities.

Its social consumer segmentation provides a great data foundation to Persona development, understanding the audiences that matter to a business, or finding new audience pocket opportunities.

Combined with the affinity graph analysis, it gives users the ability to tap into the ever-evolving culture & trends; and helps bring personalisation and build more relevance in:

The Challenge

Culture is always on the move, making it increasingly difficult for consumer segmentation to keep up. However, Audiense's social consumer segments are derived from the consumers behaviour “in the wild '', to make it more likely to reflect real affinities, and become a source of new input into the segmentation strategy.

As a result, the vendor states marketers can use Audiense to identify unique approaches to marketing to consumers that stem from rich and varied social data, in turn providing competitive differentiation.

When you start a strategy and want to discover how the audiense is composed, this is the first step to start exploring and then create your buyer personas with more details from other auxiliary tools (social listening, market research). Audiense is the best way to start exploring. It works better when you are dealing with big social media accounts when you want to explore audiences from a specific country or very specific interests. It’s good to import information from listening tools like Brandwatch to get better results about your audience.

This is a great tool for any business in my opinion. I have used this for commercial clients (B2B) as well as Non-profts but I feel this could be for a range of businesses as the insights are so vast. I have used this to find niche audiences for clients in order for them to target messaging to specific audiences which are more likely to engage with the organization. I have also used this for competitor analysis for smaller/newer brands that need some insight as a place to start by looking at their competitors in order to start building their own audience.

Audiense is great (and to my knowledge is the only tool available for most users) to effectively track and study follower bases. However, it lacks capacities for someone wanting to do big-number research/analysis. It is best suited to reasonably sized audiences, up to a few tens of thousands of subscribers

Audiense is especially suited for companies that have niche interests and want to get to their specific audience. It is, however, important to know your audience to begin with, so you can target your search on appropriate keywords. It is probably less competitive where broad swaths of interests are involved, like Twitter, for instance, does that pretty well on its own platform. This doesn't mean that Audiense wouldn't help, just that it would be less of a motivating factor for potential users.

The system works brilliantly for Twitter; however, for some use cases, we are limited if the client isn't using Twitter right now and their target Audience is on Instagram or Facebook, for example. We get great insight, and it's a limitation of the networks rather than Audiense, so we completely understand.

I either use Audiense alone as a starting point for my strategy, helping me to understand competitor audiences and their makeup, or later on during the process of a more in-depth social listening project. I think Audiense is incredibly helpful if you have no social listening experience and want to understand more about your target audience. It can also be a useful influencer identification tool, particularly with all the filters in your influencer report. Being able to select the size of the influencer audience, and analyze the data for influencers on specific platforms or with specific interests is really really helpful.

Audiense is specifically well suited for the efficient identification of clearly defined target audiences and their respective segments. It is less suited for identifying broad or niche audiences which lack identifiable markers or criteria when it comes to their specific digital behavior. We have been a client for over a decade. The Audiense team has been collaborative and supportive in so many ways and with so many clients, going well above the call of duty. They have involved us in a case study and contributed to our book coming out in March. Audiense is one of our most valued relationships. Twitter has not remained competitive with other social media platforms, especially Instagram and TikTok. I can appreciate that Twitter being such an open platform means a tremendous amount of data and insights can be derived to provide value but I trust that Audiense will continue to evolve its solutions to augment the value it can offer to agencies and clients.

The best thing about Audiense is that it is a very reliable tool. Whenever I am tasked with an objective, the first thing I think of is how Audiense can help me achieve the goal. Audiense is great for identifying niche influencers, providing a rapid view of an audience, or getting an understanding of a certain topic. A key benefit of the platform is the pace at which it is possible to do this, and the intuitive interface, which means new users can very rapidly get up to speed on using the platform. While it does work well in isolation, we also find that it often works best when combined with other social listening tools and datasets. It can also be used as a first step to building consumer personas, which can then be expanded through other means (surveys, panel platforms, etc.).

I feel like Audiense has been the best platform for our Twitter marketing and growth strategies.
