TrustRadius Insights are summaries of user sentiment data from TrustRadius reviews and, when necessary, 3rd-party data sources. Have feedback on this content? Let us know!

Easy to Use: Many users have found Lyris to be easy and user-friendly for sending a large quantity of emails, creating custom segments, uploading emails, setting up automated programs, connecting to data sources, and cloning/editing emails. The intuitive interface and quick learning curve make it accessible for users of varying technical abilities. This ease of use extends to features like campaign management, web analytics tools for reporting results, the ability to send targeted emails, and the convenience of cloning previous emails for easy editing. Overall, Lyris provides a seamless experience for email marketing tasks with its user-friendly interface and extensive features that cater to different user needs.

Lack of Support: Several users have expressed frustration with the lack of support provided by the software. They have mentioned difficulties in receiving timely customer support, especially outside of regular business hours. Some users have also criticized the limited support provided during the start-up period and the additional charges for support after that period.

Reliability Issues: Many reviewers have raised concerns about the reliability of the software. They have reported frequent outages that prevent them from sending emails for extended periods of time. Users have also experienced glitches, multiple server outages, and instances where emails fail to send or the software does not open.

Steep Learning Curve: A significant number of users have mentioned a steep learning curve associated with the SQL programming language used by the software. This has made it difficult for some users to fully utilize its features and functionalities.

Users of Lyris have made several recommendations based on their experiences with the email marketing tool. The three most common recommendations are:

  1. Users emphasize the importance of comparing Lyris with other email marketing services, such as Mandrill or Mailchimp. They suggest evaluating features, pricing, and customer support before making a decision.

  2. Some users recommend exploring alternative email marketing services if you are new to email marketing and require more coaching or hand-holding. This implies that Lyris may not be the best option for beginners who need more guidance in using the platform.

  3. Another recommendation is to opt for the self-hosted version of Lyris instead of the hosted version. Users believe that having control over the hosting can offer more flexibility and customization options.

Overall, users acknowledge that Lyris has most of the features expected from an email marketing service and commend its product support. However, they advise potential users to carefully evaluate their needs and consider alternatives before committing to Lyris.

Aurea ListManager is being used to manage and distribute information for various retail industries.
  • Reports: extensive reporting on mailings and membership. Pre-built reports/charts include Mailings, Members, Server Performance, Web site, Purchases, Interest and Surveys. If Aurea ListManager doesn't have the built-in chart needed, you can easily create your own.
  • Easy to analyze mailings: Completed mailing can be analyzed quickly. Options include viewing any errors that may have resulted, and checking list performance, evaluating recipient actions, ( opens, click-troughs). Details can be seen on a per-recipient basis, allowing you to see exactly what happened with each message sent.
  • Discussion Lists. There are numerous list setting to customize each list.
  • Interface, needs a modern look.
  • HTML Editor and built in templates. Would be nice if they added up to date templates for responsive design. It's easy to create a responsive design template but it has to be made in a different program, copied and pasted into the editor.
  • Ideally with API you can integrate LM with any other programs. Too many competing programs have this all ready done so the end user can use it immediately.
It's a good fit for companies that have several departments that need separate mailing lists under the same domain.

LM is an excellent Discussion List Medium: plenty of features (all open to customization), has searchable archives and easy for members to use.

No drop and drag features, does not look up-to-date considering what it can do.

Template creation can be a pain.

It does do marketing, Unit Price, Quantity, Product/SKU#, Interest Stage and Interest Points. You can use a purchasing script or shopping cart application can then dynamically update these variables with information about the customer's purchase, which then is sent to LM However it takes some effort to set this up.

  • Aurea as a company is mediocre with support. The former LM staff was better informed about the product.
  • LM can do almost anything you need. it's complete.
  • ROI has suffered as Aurea has not updated the product, charges a considerable amount for renewals, promises with no results.

Templates: from experience with other programs you have no control over the templates, and it's difficult to create your own.
LM has the ability to send big files and attachments, those other programs limit sending size.
LM has excellent reports, there are limits with the others.
I like the fact that Mailchimp has seemly more options, but the cost as your list grows, is not comparable.
