We used it as a mean of patch management for Mircosoft and 3rd party patching for our environment. In my opinion, it is rather clunky focues more on pretty graphs and pages than on funtionality or simplicity.

We use Automox to patch servers and workstations to enforce OS & third-party patches, and custom scripting across Windows, Mac, and Linux.
  • Grouping of servers base on the naming conventions
  • Add a new zone to patch a severs on a different domain
  • Vulnerability Assessment by integrating automox with Rapid7
  • Patch progress window
  • Reporting
  • Patch staging\delivery optimization but not only limited to 2019 servers
  • Update Automox agents on Windows\Linux servers from the Automox admin console
  • Time syncing issues between what the server is reporting and the Automox console
  • Policy to force a server reboot regardless if the server is missing a patch that required a reboot or not
Best suited for Linux and Windows Patch management, less appropriate on vulnerability assessment

We are using automox for patch and vulnerability assessment and management for both linux and windows VM's
  • Linux Patching
  • Windows Patching
  • Vulnerability Assessment by integrating automox with Rapid7
  • Automox can also own repository management which will help on most of the cases.
  • Add more integration with security tools and ease that integration
Best suited for Linux and Windows Patch management, less appropriate on vulnerability assessment because it doesn't show the critical|high|medium|low for all the patches or security threats for the system.

We use Automox to patch windows OS on laptops throughout the company. In healthcare we need to patch laptops from the latest exploits. We are currently on pushing it to the desktop and works will with the desktop
  • Patching
  • silent install
  • information of device
  • the older interface was easier to manage
  • newer interface was as challenge in the beginning
  • closing 3rd party apps so that can be installed
its works well for us since we have the patch, we also use it as inventory control. it is also get to use for what is already installed on the laptop

We use Automox for automated patch management of our servers and our workstations. We have also started using it to push software.
  • Software Distribution
  • Patch Management
  • Software Reporting
  • Constant Reboots or the scanning is inaccurate
  • I want to be able to assign a device to multiple groups
It is perfectly suited for organizations with a small IT staff and large amount of devices. It's also perfect for pushing software to machines that are not on the network or VPN. It's less effective for server patch management. I like to have a little more control of my server patching.

We use Automox to patch and maintain all of our client and Server estate. We also utilise it in terms of Vulnerability review and remediation.

It covers off standard and third party applications and has largely automated this process for us reducing the manual effort to ensure our estate is up to date
  • Patching
  • Third Party application patching
  • Automation of patching
  • More support for third party apps
  • easier management of staging of patching
  • Better management of specialist requirements for patching and reboot
Automox is well suited to environments that are able to allow patching to run automatically. Where there are no sensitive applications that require special treatment Automox works exceptionally.

Automox works well with well controlled application deployment.

We use Automox as our primary security patching solution for both Laptops, Desktops, and Servers. With a small team of staff, having a product like Automox that can take care of our staging and scheduling of updates not only for Windows and Apple but also for many other apps like Zoom, Adobe, and Google is extremely valuable. We automatically patch the majority of our systems without the need for manual intervention.
  • Scheduled patching windows with automatic retries if a window is missed.
  • Detailed reporting and trending.
  • the ability for granular approval of certain types of updates and exclusions for others like beta or preview releases.
  • We sometimes find we have to reinstall the agent on some of our servers to get it working again.
  • Doesn't always properly detect that certain updates have already been installed or have been superseded by a more current rollup.
We find it works great for our Server environment but it is more difficult to patch user devices due to laptops being turned off overnight or staff ignoring the patching warnings (not the fault of Automox) It doesn't always handle macOS updates smoothly, but I think many integrations with Apple can be challenging.

We moved from WSUS to Automox to give us better control of patching policies and provide better insight into the status of our devices. We were spending too much time manually addressing devices patching issues and didn't have a clear enough picture of what patches were installed on which devices.
  • Reporting
  • Patch schedules.
  • Patch policies.
  • Sometimes devices listed in reports aren't links to open that device's page.
  • Device tagging can be quite slow to apply.
I've found Automox to have simplified our patch management and lets me efficiently track, schedule and deploy patches to my devices. It's scaled very well as we've removed and added servers and has taken away the need for an on-premise update repository. It has also handled cross-platform issues well and has a decent amount of 3rd party patching support.

We use Automox to support the automatic patching of operating systems and 3rd party applications. Automox can also help with the implementation of new software via workouts or even the removal of applications where management of the device is unavailable. The scheduling and patch policy enforcement is critical for our business to ensure endpoints are secure as soon as possible, especially in today's ever-changing security climate.
  • 1st and 3rd party patching (and growing list of 3rd party apps).
  • Multiple policies to ensure different levels of criticality are addressed.
  • End user notifications.
  • Reporting and compliance are more streamlined and easier to read.
  • Allow patches to be seeded across endpoints enrolled (local LAN distribution of patches).
  • More options for end-user notification, what exactly would be patched, and more choices for installation and reboot times.
  • Expansion into mobile devices.
Automox is best suited where connectivity is close to 100% with Cloud access. Where there are disconnected endpoints or clients that have limited bandwidth, it is less appropriate. If you are looking to seed patches down to a location and have endpoints updated from that, is is also less appropriate as first or third-party patching solutions would need to be added on.

Automox is a great tool for end point deployment and patching, we have been using Automox over the years and it help was with Security configuration and to tun various custom scripts. Over the years the support via build in chat which is also live make to reach the Customer Service representative easily. Specially considering the dashboard with detailed graphical chats lets us understand the current system status.
  • Great live dashboard view which lets understand the system status
  • Easy end point deployment and patching for all the end users
  • Scheduled downtime marks for the prod support users to have more control over the system
  • Reporting functionality need lot of scope for improvement
  • System comes downs multiple times which cause end users to suffer a lot
  • Remote access was working great at earlier versions nut not the scope has been reduced by a lot and multiple users cannot access at a time
Automox dashboard is great and has a great potential to improvise, specially the graphs and easy to understand process and not to forget the major functionality of deployment and patching at end points. The easy to use interface helps to set up. vulnerabilities are reduced by a great scale after using Automox. When compared to other tools they are priced on a higher scale.

We use Automox to identify unpatched applications and operating systems on workstations and servers. We needed a tool to more quickly identify and close cyber security gaps. Our manual research and semi-automated implemetation of security patches wasn't keeping us current. We have a large remote workforce, and our existing tools would require connection to the corporate VPN in order for us to detect that a workstation was out-of-date and then send patches to it. Some employees almost never connect to the VPN, so it could be many months before we were able to patch their PC.
  • Collecting software inventory information on workstations and servers
  • Determining the availability of software patches
  • Pushing out patches to applications and operating systems
  • Can't patch certain applications while they are running
  • It doesn't properly report the status of an application when there are more than one verseion installed (i.e. two different versions of the Tablaeu client).
The installed agent and cloud-based nature of Automox makes it extermely useful with a remote workforce. There's no need for the remote users to connect to the corporate VPN in order to be inventoried and remain connected to receive patches.

If Automox supports all the applications that you run on your PCs, it mitigates the need to a separate vulnerability scan. Automox doesn't look for vulnerabilities, it looks for patches that aren't installed, so if there's no patch for a particular vulnerability Automox won't tell you anything. A vulnerability scanner would tell you there's a vulnerbility, but if there's no patch available there isn't much value to knowing it. We trust Automox to patch the vulnerabilities that can be patched and don't waste our time chaing the ones that can't.

We use it for software distribution and software updates on the end user client devices and servers - windows and linux. We picked Automox for its simplicity and ease of use, over some other tools that we could use like BigFix and Microsoft SCCM. Scope is all laptops, desktops and x86 servers in our environment
  • easy to use UI and dashboard
  • easy to create groups to separate my server and client compute teams
  • Always ready with new patches, including new vulnerability or zero day patches, which can be quickly deployed
  • initial deployment of agents to all end points was a challenge, would have been great if there was a way for Automox to discover and install.
  • Sometimes upgrading the Automox client which becomes old due to an end point not connecting for a long time becomes challenging as it becomes incompatible and has to be upgraded manually
  • It would good to have a functionality where an end point device can be turned into a brick if desired in cases where the device is not returned back after an employee is terminated. This should also have the option of turning it back into an active device if we choose to
Automox has worked very well for all our use cases - scheduled patching of servers and end use systems, deployment of new software's remotely on these systems, reporting on software installed on these systems in situations where we need an inventory of a particular software that we might be looking for etc. The Asset Management piece can probably me made more matured, or it might be possible there is already something out there that we are not aware of.

In our organization, we extensively utilize Automox for various purposes. Our main focus is on weekly patching of over 1800 devices running Windows, Linux, ChromeOS, Android and MacOS. Additionally, we utilize Automox for app installations and removals using worklets, although this is less frequent. The primary business problems that Automox addresses for us are vulnerability management and compliance. It ensures that all our devices are up to date, reducing the risk of security vulnerabilities. With an intuitive interface and an automated patching process, Automox saves us valuable time. We also leverage Automox for managing third-party application updates with minimal intervention required. Furthermore, it simplifies the deployment of standard applications across our devices. Overall, Automox has significantly streamlined our patch management and software distribution processes, improving security and efficiency in our organization.
  • Creating Custom Policies
  • Integrating with WSUS
  • Vulnerability Management
  • Flexible Device Targeting
  • In order to enhance flexible device targeting, we need additional attributes beyond the currently available ones such as Hostname, OS, IP Address, and Tags for filtering the devices.
  • We require additional custom themes to improve the user interface (UI).
  • The level of community support is currently inadequate.
Automox is versatile and well-suited for various scenarios. Its custom policies automate tasks, enforce rules, and manage system configurations across groups of endpoints. Customization options include evaluation code for Windows PowerShell. Pre-packaged scripts cover popular software and settings, with the ability to upload custom scripts. Creating groups and integrating with WSUS is easy, enhancing device management and patching efficiency. Worklets automate custom tasks, including software removal. Flexible device targeting allows precise management based on attributes like Hostname, OS, IP Address, and Tags. Automox rapidly remediates vulnerabilities detected by third-party software, improving security. However, it may be less suitable for highly specialized software needs or environments favoring manual configuration. Assessing specific requirements is crucial for optimal use.

We use Automox mainly for weekly patching of various kinds of devices running Windows, Linux and MacOS. Total more than 1100 devices. In rare cases, it is used to install/uninstall apps using worklets. Overall, Automox helps us with vulnerability management and compliance by ensuring that all devices are up to date. And Automox also saves time with an easy-to-use interface and the automated patching process.
  • Mega user friendly interface
  • Automated patching
  • Cross-platform support
  • Worklets
  • it would be nice to see information about the current status of services on the device page, for example Windows server, and also know the time when it was last rebooted.
Automox is well suited for device patching by remote employees, as it allows devices to be patched even when employees are outside the corporate network. It is also well suited for managing patches in infrastructures that have various devices, including Windows, Linux, MacOS. Automox is least suitable where the Internet connection is unstable.

We use Automox to manage and secure our endpoints, regardless of their location or operating system. With Automox, we don't need to use patch servers or multiple solutions for different OS platforms, as it allows us to patch, control, and secure our endpoints all from one cloud-enabled platform. We've been able to easily ensure that all our devices are up-to-date with the latest patches and software across all locations with just a few clicks.
  • Reliable and easy to deploy and use.
  • Automated and remote patching
  • Automation of routine tasks on both windows and mac OS.
  • The UI is a bit clunky but once you get used to it it is not that big of a deal.
We have branches in different areas across the states and even some employees work remotely. We use Automox to automate the patching across all the devices in the company without any issues. It is simple to configure allowing us to schedule and automate patch deployments quickly, as well as create and apply policies to any system anywhere in the state.

Automox helps us update and patch our applications for our workstations across our domain; many of our computers may not be reachable through standard means but Automox can connect to it if it has internet connection.
  • Flexibility at Scale
  • Great Customer Success Managers and Service
  • Quantity of Supported Applications
  • Uncertain Activity Logging and Reporting of Results
  • Unstable Connection and Reporting of
Well suited:
If you have updates that can be pushed at leisure, not ASAP.
If you have updates that are not very big in size.

Less appropriate:
If you need an update on a workstation and you need 100% confirmation that it happened or not.
If you can't miss an update within a specific time period.

Automox provides a simple yet powerful way to keep our server and end-user operating systems (Windows, Mac, Linux) up to date.
Most of our third-party applications are also updated automatically using Automox, with very little intervention required.
Finally, Automox also simplifies the process of deploying our standard applications out to devices.
  • Third Party Patching
  • Operating System Patching
  • End-user Notifications to provide flexibility for post patch reboots
  • Real-time visibility of patch status
  • Role-based access management
  • Chaining "worklets" together to deal with more complex patching scenarios
  • An "Onboard Now" function to deploy all patches and assigned software on demand.
Automox is a very easy product to bring into an environment; the agent is simple and quick to deploy, with devices showing up within minutes of agent deployment and policies can be setup quickly and easily to get patching of OS and third party products underway.

The customisable pre-patch and post-patch notifications allow you to give flexibilty to end-users to manage patches to be deployed at a convenient time, while still ensuring the patching and reboot (if required) occurs within a defined time frame.

Worklets provide a powerful way to deploy software, but can also be used to manage other aspects of devices, for example, check network performance of a remote device, change the wallpaper/background image, uninstall applications ...

I would like to see improved role-based access controls. Automox has a concept of "Zones" as a security boundary, but these don't provide much granularity. Something a bit simpler to manage would be useful, for example, allowing role-based access to device groups would help delegate patching responsibilities to end-user devices separately to patching responsibility to servers.

We use Automox to provide automatic security updates/patches to approximately 250 computers (mixed Windows and Mac).
  • Clean, easy interface
  • Custom policies by groups
  • Dashboard provides quick summary
  • Powerful scripting
  • macOS support for OS patches is unreliable
  • More categories to include/exclude categories of patches would be useful
  • Awkward to use in a lab environment with multiple users on machines
We use Automox to provide OS and third party software updates on Windows & Mac machines. We have found Automox to work far better on Windows based machines than on Macs for OS updates to the point where we have disabled the OS updates on Mac because it causes more issues than it solves. Third party software patching works well on both for supported software.

I use Automox primarily as an automated patching tool across our three different operating system platforms, primarily as an effect to reduce our attack surface and minimize existing software vulnerabilities. With the agent based implementation of Automox I also periodically use it for limited configuration management purposes and reacting to short suspense Security bulletins requiring larger scale configuration changes.
  • Excellent support for Windows-based systems. Rarely have any issues updating those systems.
  • When issues do arise, the Automox support team has been very responsive and informative of solutions (or where projects are on potential roll out dates).
  • The user interface is intuitive and easy to use.
  • Could use better patching support for non-Windows OS’s. Linux (Ubuntu) patching has been relatively decent, but will sometimes run into issues when users have adjusted libraries for software development. MacOS patching could use significant updates and is hit or miss when the patching cycle runs.
  • Automox agents don’t seem to always update themselves on time, even when user systems connected during patch timelines.
  • Patched user alerts could be less vague. Spend some amount of time every day explaining when a patch will auto-restart or not.
Automox appears to be best suited for organizations with only one or two operating systems across their enterprise (so long as one of them isn’t MacOS). Additionally, while we are a smaller organization it appears that Automox should scale well to larger organizations as building out patching groups is very intuitive.

Prior to Automox, we had a WSUS server that was not performing. As well as this we have employees globally many of whom are not on the network or domain and hence don't get reg. Updates and we can't ensure compliance and security for all software. Rolling out updates as well as software to a global workforce was troublesome and very time-consuming. We know that simply install Automox and assign the asset to a group and we rest assured it will furthermore be compliant. Also, the onboarding was good, and support has been good also. Automox really did simplify this for us immensely, and we have a visual on compliance and statistics. IT HAS PAID FOR ITSELF EASILY, WITH TIME SAVED ON ENSURING COMPLIANCE.
  • Ensures compliance.
  • Standardized all computers on various software.
  • Provides real-time data on statistics of the hardware compliance.
  • Easy to deploy and maintain.
  • Ensure Server compliance with Windows updates.
  • I always prefer a vendor onboarding rather than us doing it to ensure we are fully utilizing he software.
Perfect for any organization wanting to easily and quickly roll out software, patches, and updates of any software, including windows update globally to hardware. Esp. Good if you have staff all over the country or world. We don't have MS in-tune licensing and don't need it with Automox.

It does not interfere with the computer's performance and our end users appear to be content with our vulnerability/patching process.
