We use Automox mainly for weekly patching of various kinds of devices running Windows, Linux and MacOS. Total more than 1100 devices. In rare cases, it is used to install/uninstall apps using worklets. Overall, Automox helps us with vulnerability management and compliance by ensuring that all devices are up to date. And Automox also saves time with an easy-to-use interface and the automated patching process.
  • Mega user friendly interface
  • Automated patching
  • Cross-platform support
  • Worklets
  • it would be nice to see information about the current status of services on the device page, for example Windows server, and also know the time when it was last rebooted.
Automox is well suited for device patching by remote employees, as it allows devices to be patched even when employees are outside the corporate network. It is also well suited for managing patches in infrastructures that have various devices, including Windows, Linux, MacOS. Automox is least suitable where the Internet connection is unstable.
The main thing for me - ease of use (well-designed and user-friendly interface with the necessary information about devices).

We use Automox to manage and secure our endpoints, regardless of their location or operating system. With Automox, we don't need to use patch servers or multiple solutions for different OS platforms, as it allows us to patch, control, and secure our endpoints all from one cloud-enabled platform. We've been able to easily ensure that all our devices are up-to-date with the latest patches and software across all locations with just a few clicks.
  • Reliable and easy to deploy and use.
  • Automated and remote patching
  • Automation of routine tasks on both windows and mac OS.
  • The UI is a bit clunky but once you get used to it it is not that big of a deal.
We have branches in different areas across the states and even some employees work remotely. We use Automox to automate the patching across all the devices in the company without any issues. It is simple to configure allowing us to schedule and automate patch deployments quickly, as well as create and apply policies to any system anywhere in the state.
Automox is a flexible and scalable solution that comes with great customer success managers and services. It is a simple yet powerful way to keep our server and end-user operating systems up to date. It's great that most of our third-party applications are also updated automatically with very little intervention required.

Automox helps us update and patch our applications for our workstations across our domain; many of our computers may not be reachable through standard means but Automox can connect to it if it has internet connection.
  • Flexibility at Scale
  • Great Customer Success Managers and Service
  • Quantity of Supported Applications
  • Uncertain Activity Logging and Reporting of Results
  • Unstable Connection and Reporting of
Well suited:
If you have updates that can be pushed at leisure, not ASAP.
If you have updates that are not very big in size.

Less appropriate:
If you need an update on a workstation and you need 100% confirmation that it happened or not.
If you can't miss an update within a specific time period.
Automox has great vision and potential, it just needs a little bit more execution to get it in that (Gartner) magic quadrant (in my opinion).

Automox provides a simple yet powerful way to keep our server and end-user operating systems (Windows, Mac, Linux) up to date.
Most of our third-party applications are also updated automatically using Automox, with very little intervention required.
Finally, Automox also simplifies the process of deploying our standard applications out to devices.
  • Third Party Patching
  • Operating System Patching
  • End-user Notifications to provide flexibility for post patch reboots
  • Real-time visibility of patch status
  • Role-based access management
  • Chaining "worklets" together to deal with more complex patching scenarios
  • An "Onboard Now" function to deploy all patches and assigned software on demand.
Automox is a very easy product to bring into an environment; the agent is simple and quick to deploy, with devices showing up within minutes of agent deployment and policies can be setup quickly and easily to get patching of OS and third party products underway.

The customisable pre-patch and post-patch notifications allow you to give flexibilty to end-users to manage patches to be deployed at a convenient time, while still ensuring the patching and reboot (if required) occurs within a defined time frame.

Worklets provide a powerful way to deploy software, but can also be used to manage other aspects of devices, for example, check network performance of a remote device, change the wallpaper/background image, uninstall applications ...

I would like to see improved role-based access controls. Automox has a concept of "Zones" as a security boundary, but these don't provide much granularity. Something a bit simpler to manage would be useful, for example, allowing role-based access to device groups would help delegate patching responsibilities to end-user devices separately to patching responsibility to servers.

Automox makes it easy to see the patch status of devices, and to take remediation actions if necessary.

Although there is functionality to import vulnerability scan information into Automox, the process could be made simpler. I expect this aspect to improve over time, and as it does, I would lift my rating of 8 to a 9 or 10.

We use Automox to provide automatic security updates/patches to approximately 250 computers (mixed Windows and Mac).
  • Clean, easy interface
  • Custom policies by groups
  • Dashboard provides quick summary
  • Powerful scripting
  • macOS support for OS patches is unreliable
  • More categories to include/exclude categories of patches would be useful
  • Awkward to use in a lab environment with multiple users on machines
We use Automox to provide OS and third party software updates on Windows & Mac machines. We have found Automox to work far better on Windows based machines than on Macs for OS updates to the point where we have disabled the OS updates on Mac because it causes more issues than it solves. Third party software patching works well on both for supported software.
Automox has a much better interface than other products we have used in this category. It is easy to find a specific computer or assign policies to a group of computers.

I use Automox primarily as an automated patching tool across our three different operating system platforms, primarily as an effect to reduce our attack surface and minimize existing software vulnerabilities. With the agent based implementation of Automox I also periodically use it for limited configuration management purposes and reacting to short suspense Security bulletins requiring larger scale configuration changes.
  • Excellent support for Windows-based systems. Rarely have any issues updating those systems.
  • When issues do arise, the Automox support team has been very responsive and informative of solutions (or where projects are on potential roll out dates).
  • The user interface is intuitive and easy to use.
  • Could use better patching support for non-Windows OS’s. Linux (Ubuntu) patching has been relatively decent, but will sometimes run into issues when users have adjusted libraries for software development. MacOS patching could use significant updates and is hit or miss when the patching cycle runs.
  • Automox agents don’t seem to always update themselves on time, even when user systems connected during patch timelines.
  • Patched user alerts could be less vague. Spend some amount of time every day explaining when a patch will auto-restart or not.
Automox appears to be best suited for organizations with only one or two operating systems across their enterprise (so long as one of them isn’t MacOS). Additionally, while we are a smaller organization it appears that Automox should scale well to larger organizations as building out patching groups is very intuitive.
Automox is very user friendly, particularly given its SaaS architecture that is responsive to user feedback and has a very regular update cadence that introduces new functionality often. There have been more than a few times I’ve provided constructive feedback to the Automox team and had them integrate that feedback into a future release.

Needed a solution to deploy patches for Windows and 3rd party apps to about 600 managed Windows devices easily.
  • Ease of Deployment
  • Ease of Automation
  • Ease of Management
  • Add more 3rd party app support
Automox works really well if you are coming from a manual patch environment and needing to ensure devices are automatically patched, even if you decide to do it on a nightly basis.

Automox is our enterprise patch management solution. We subscribed and deployed to replace an on-premise WSUS server, as well as incorporate all the other 3rd party software patching into a single solution.
  • Easy to deploy
  • Accurate inventory
  • Intuitive dashboard
  • Not an easy to view list of software Automox patches
  • Remote Control only available for an extra charge
  • No remote wipe functionality
Well suited for small IT departments that need a solution that doesn't require a lot of management.
Automox is intuitive and logical, once the policies are setup and configured as desired.

Prior to Automox, we had a WSUS server that was not performing. As well as this we have employees globally many of whom are not on the network or domain and hence don't get reg. Updates and we can't ensure compliance and security for all software. Rolling out updates as well as software to a global workforce was troublesome and very time-consuming. We know that simply install Automox and assign the asset to a group and we rest assured it will furthermore be compliant. Also, the onboarding was good, and support has been good also. Automox really did simplify this for us immensely, and we have a visual on compliance and statistics. IT HAS PAID FOR ITSELF EASILY, WITH TIME SAVED ON ENSURING COMPLIANCE.
  • Ensures compliance.
  • Standardized all computers on various software.
  • Provides real-time data on statistics of the hardware compliance.
  • Easy to deploy and maintain.
  • Ensure Server compliance with Windows updates.
  • I always prefer a vendor onboarding rather than us doing it to ensure we are fully utilizing he software.
Perfect for any organization wanting to easily and quickly roll out software, patches, and updates of any software, including windows update globally to hardware. Esp. Good if you have staff all over the country or world. We don't have MS in-tune licensing and don't need it with Automox.

Our organization, albeit small, is held up to the same standards as some of our larger counterparts. As a result, our regulators scrutinize our IT environment and have been very particular with respect to information security and vulnerability management. Automox suits our needs perfectly and was extremely easy to integrate. It does not interfere with the computer's performance and our end users appear to be content with our vulnerability/patching process.

At a very reasonable price point, Automox continues to be our "go to" patching software. It appears to be continously updated and the reporting options are clear and concise. Policy creation and asset management are very easy processes that can be performed by even your least tech-savvy employee. Excellent product!

We purchased Automox to replace a finicky multi WSUS server setup when I first joined my company. We deployed it using our Endpoint Protection. It took less than two weeks for myself and one of my Systems engineers to have it fully deployed across two domains and begin the securing process. We found that our WSUS servers had about a 60% deployment rate. Some servers hadn't been successfully patched in a year or more, along with 30+ linux servers that hadn't been patched ever. It took a month of maintenance windows to get all our servers up to date. Workstations we rolled out automated patching right out of the gate. We've been able to lock down use of USBs, eliminate use of weak ciphers, roll out use of community strings to secure SNMP, limit Windows build versions until we've had time to test, setup automated cleanup on a handful of servers, and deploy out Chrome enterprise. It allows a team of 3 to manage security of over 1000 servers. It's been easier to manage and was far easier to deploy than other solutions. Support has been great as well. They respond to tickets often within an hour.
  • Patching
  • Compliance Policies
  • Script automation
  • Nested Groups for Policies
  • Add a software store
Automox is well suited to small-medium businesses that do not have a need for a large platform that takes months to setup but can do everything you can imagine under the sun. Automox is designed to be easy to setup, easy to deploy, and easy to maintain your fleet of devices with limited admins needed. In order to gain the full benefits of the platform it does require that at least someone on your team has at least a basic functional knowledge of scripting. That's what is used for compliance settings, software deployments, and automated scripts. Patching polices can be made as all-encompassing or as granular as you need. Automox may not work as well in an environment that has more requirements that they don't want to find additional tools for such as user self service for software installations, staggered patching for limited bandwidth sites, endpoint monitoring built in, or need a platform that integrates with an MDM such as Intune.
Its super easy to learn. It has a few key menus to list Devices, Software, Manage, and Reports. Once you learn how to use their filters its easy to find what you need. Most of their functionality runs on scripting. Namely PowerShell, Bash, Shell and Python.

With our company being 100% remote, we wanted a solution to provide updates for our end user devices, no matter where they are in the world. We also wanted a solution that could support both Windows and Mac devices and this made it extremely easy to approve, schedule, and install updates for both environments. With our users also being remote, it allows us to push out any new software across all devices very easily.
  • Updates
  • Reporting
  • Ease of use
  • Scheduling updates/reboots around the users schedule
  • Sometimes duplicates devices
If you are looking for a product to help with patching that is easy to use, reliable, and supports both Windows and Mac there’s no better option. Also 100% cloud based which makes it even easier to manage updates for remote users! Can sleep like a baby at night knowing our devices are secure and up to date.

We are a fully remote workforce, with requirements to be HIPAA compliant. We use Automox to make sure all of our endpoints are patched and up to date, as well as push out software our users need. It makes automatic updates a breeze, and applying needed software without needing to touch machines is extremely helpful.
  • Automatic updates
  • Software rollout
  • Enforce compliance
  • give extra functions and options on the "Patch All" function
  • Allow automatic patching of Zoom, Snagit, and other software not typically allowed.
Automox works exceedingly well for us, as a fully remote workforce. We aren't able to push group policy since everyone isn't connect to our domain controllers on the network, so using Automox to push software and updates works really well. If you are all in the office and able to use group policy to install and update software, it may not have as much of an impact.

We use primarily use Automox to schedule, regulate, and implement third-party patching and certain operating systems including varieties of Linux and MacOS. It's growing list of supported third party applications provides us with notifications about what software is out of date and what devices need to be addressed with updates. It also allows us to suppress certain updates to ensure compliance and avoid potential problems with brand new versions of software.
  • Reporting and Insight into our environment
  • Mitigation of out of compliance devices
  • Granular scheduling of software version updating
  • Integrations into a wider variety of vulnerability providers
  • Ease of installation for the macOS environment
It is well suited for designing vulnerability and version based patching with a variety of scheduling options.

Lights out patching of our entire enterprise environment with minimal interaction. Before Automox, we were several months at best, and over a year at worst behind in patching our user and server environments. We simply did not have the staff to police Microsoft WSUS, and keep track of what was and was not getting done. Now we have policies in place to keep up and patch the environment within a week of the patch availability. If there is something urgent that needs to be distributed, we can do that too, and have it all complete within minutes. Automox has been a joy to use, and support is top notch!
  • Patch with minimal interraction
  • Distribute software to as many machines as required within minutes
  • Allow patches to be tested in a limited environment before wide scale deployment
  • Dashboard to get a quick view of how well it is working
  • I wish Automox would support Chained patching where I could use a script to disable services on a production environment, patch the database, then when done, patch the remaining servers.
Nothing works 100%, and there are things Automox is working on to add additional features to bring the number closer to 10. In todays world where vulnerabilities need to be addressed quickly, or risk business loss due to infection, Automox helps us sleep better at night. Their monthly calls keep the community informed of new features to come, and they always ask what we want so they can continue to build their roadmap for the future.

The best thing with Automox is a cloud-native endpoint management solution and hence I am able to keep an eye on all my remote users and see how their patching progress is. This also enables us to ditch obsolete infrastructure and VPNs that eliminates maintenance or fixing off-network devices. We were able to get our devices patching in the next to no setup time. It's very easy and simple to set up groups and begin updating devices right from the go.
  • Automox takes care of basic patching automatically and allows flexible customs any time.
  • Flexible deployment options on Windows, macOS and also on Linux.
  • Works best on multiple servers.
  • I love how this tool centralize and boost the ability to see what is the patches situation for our clients.
  • It's not so good to always force employees update their devices on a timeline duty.
  • Has got multiple pricing tiers.
Automox is the most robust and real option for remote patching management that is very easy to use and has a very powerful and professional community with full information. The UI is very user-friendly and easy to customize hence it's great for remote access to endpoints and remote patching made easier.

We have nearly every major OS on our network and need a single tool to manage these assets.

We use Automox to patch and update our Windows workstations and servers. Automox allows us to patch and update software from many different vendors which gives us a single solution for all of our patch management. Automox replaced our Windows Server Update Server (WSUS) that was cumbersome to use and administer with a very limited feature set. WSUS also required local server hardware versus Automox which is entirely cloud based. The performance and reliability of Automox is head and shoulders above WSUS. The other thing that really drew us to Automox is it is a dedicated patch management product that does not try to blend in many other unrelated features and functions at a much higher price point.
  • Patch Management
  • Easy to understand dashboard and administrative interface
  • Patching of third party applications, such as Adobe, Google, etc.
