Auvik pulls data from sources like CDP, LLDP, and forwarding tables to meticulously model the Layer 1 network diagram. Layers 2 and 3 are built from ARP tables, IP assignments, and VLAN associations to show what’s on the network, where it is, and how it’s connected.Screenshot of Auvik’s automated inventory, which uses network protocols to detect and capture full details for every device on the network including make and model, serial number, IP address, and the physical switchport the device is connected to. If the device is known but not its location, Auvik can find the device and every other device it’s connected to.Screenshot of lifecycle data, pulled from supported devices to show whether they’re on current or expired support contracts, whether there are more up-to-date software versions available, if devices are eligible to receive critical security updates, and if devices are still available for purchase.Screenshot of Auvik's over 50 pre-configured alerts tuned to industry best practices and ranging from informational to emergency. Its pre-configured alerts can be tweaked, added to, and the frequency of how often notifications are sent can be changed.Screenshot of Auvik TrafficInsights, which leverages machine learning and traffic classification to show which applications—like Dropbox, Netflix, or Slack—or protocols are using up the bulk of the network’s bandwidth.Screenshot of Auvik's centralized syslog for all network devices where they can be viewed directly from the device dashboard for more context, to more quickly troubleshoot network issues.Screenshot of Auvik’s configuration restore button, which can be used to instantly bring things back to the way they were should a device fail. We purchased Auvik to replace Solarwinds due to horrible support. Auvik has been amazing since day one. The product is extremely easy to set up, easy to maintain, and when there is an issue their support is on it. I highly recommend this product to anyone who is needing a product they can depend on without having to have hands-on it every day.

Our previous solution was a pain to set up and maintain. This product has an on-prem collector that is simple to set up. Then it watches the networks you provide and you can use one collector for multiple properties.

We are a Managed Service Provider and use this to manage networks for several of our larger customers. We use it to create documentation, and provide information on the network. Our external NOC also uses it for management and it is Integrated with our Professional Services Automation tool (autotask). We also use it for traffic analysis.
  • Captures alerts over a LONG period of time (as long as the agent is installed)
  • Excellent ability to drill down on Traffic data
  • Inventory of assets, both network components and and all connected devices
  • Visual Map alerts
  • Ability to export data
  • The reporting is not great and needs improvement. Much data, but not as useable in native format as it could be
  • There have been issues with exporting data into Power BI in multi-site locations
  • Multi-site location functionality and mapping could be better
It's been great for the discovery of a network. We like that there is a good ability to drill down on traffic data as well. We've used this to understand what apps are consuming bandwidth when there are reports of a "slow network". Note that this feature is only available in the "Performance Agent" upgrade, but we use this frequently.

  • It's allowed to pinpoint specific applications that are consuming bandwidth
  • Provides the ability to capture and analyze network configuration. This makes it much faster and easier for technicians otherwise unfamiliar to quickly look things over
Auvik was better in two key respects: MSP-friendly pricing and also in the ability for less experienced technicians to set it up and use it.

Yes
Not as much "bug" as a limitation as is relates to exporting data for multi-site networks into Power BI. They took great interest in this and provided a work around (which was not practical for me given the large number of locations), but could be for some users with smaller networks.
They assigned an engineer to work with us on a Power BI export issue. They clearly showed interest in improving the product and we did joint sessions where we could go through detailed questions and they could take screen shots.

I signed up for the 14-day free trial. It was fairly easy to set up initial devices but took some time to gather all credentials and SNMP v3 information. I also had to touch each device to add the Auvik sensor to the ACL.

I had to manually add info for some devices, it could not automatically detect every device.

We currently use Auvik to monitor all fully-managed client networks; presently 125 networks and 740 devices. Auvik allows us to review all network traffic, throughput, and performance issues. Instead of responding to client issues, we are proactively preventing them, or alerting them, to provide a greater level of service.

Auvik is well suited in the MSP sector for all network monitoring needs. It provides exceptional visibility into network traffic, device/hardware status, and any other reporting through SNMP, WMI, or APIs. Auvik is not well-suited on multi-site over a slow link (e.g. 10Mbps) when the collector is at the remote end of the site. Traffic is too encumbering and can often slow downlinks.

Auvik far surpasses competition on price, licensing, reporting, and the overall interface. While Auvik can be loop-heavy (circling back to where you started), its interface is SIMPLE and its results detailed. Whoever created the user interface needs to have a beer, because they deserve it.
