  • The fact of having the possibility of having multiple backup locations simultaneously, in addition to their encryption, guarantees that it is possible, in a feasible way, to perform a disaster recovery.
  • Due to deduplication, disk storage is optimized, making backups take up little space on storage volumes and, consequently, require a low investment in disks and storage.
  • Also regarding dedup, the tool implements it effectively, dramatically accelerating backup and restore speed, optimizing recovery time (RTO)

  • The tool has always been positive at all times when it was necessary to restore data, whether from a simple email account to very important data such as the company's database, when a disk damaged the bacula it served us perfectly in the restoration, the impact it would be much worse if we didn't have the tool to run the database.

  • Bacula Enterprise allowed us to increase our backup capacity by being licensed by the host and not by size.

  • I believe that since the implementation it is already giving feedback because the previous solution was totally outdated and problematic.
  • Unfortunately, I can't provide values because I don't have access to my sector's finance.

  • The obvious answer to this question is that it has saved our company a substantial amount of money. We do have a support contract with Bacula, and had to go back and forth with them and our legal department to clear up which county's laws would rule in a dispute, but we finally got that hashed out. It isn't free, but it isn't close to what we were spending for support previously with EMC Networker.
  • The downside to the reduced cost of ownership is that it comes with reduced timeliness of support. If something breaks on a Saturday at 2:00 a.m., we aren't going to get support on it until sometime Monday, and even then the problem likely won't be fixed on Monday either.

  • What price can you put on recovery? The very first time we had to restore from backup, having Bacula Enterprise support paid for itself.
  • The extremely good visibility into Bacula Enterprise's operations--as opposed to some competitors where you don't really know what it's doing--makes me trust it more.
