One key application is searching for previous emails or tickets to identify recurring issues, saving time and effort in troubleshooting. The Archiver feature is highly praised for its ability to efficiently retrieve emails, even from past employees. This ensures important information is not lost and acts as a safety net for accidental deletions or poor mailbox management.

The software also excels in securing client records and facilitating the secure transfer of information between businesses. By taking over email archiving and simplifying management, it streamlines processes and aids in email storage and backup, eliminating concerns about limited capacity. It meets compliance requirements for healthcare organizations and offers reliable support, making it a valuable resource for legal purposes, ensuring compliance with retention laws, and simplifying litigation.

  2. Allocate time for learning about the product. Users advise taking the time to learn about the Barracuda Message Archiver and its operation, especially when integrating it with Exchange.

  3. Great for long-term data storage. Users highly recommend the Barracuda Message Archiver for those who need to keep records for an extended period. It provides secure data storage over a prolonged duration.

However, some users caution against relying solely on this solution if receiving all emails is a top priority due to instances where important messages have been blocked in the past.

We archive all mails to be able to keep mailboxes small (max 1 year of email online) and to avoid deletions of all emails due to bad intent, accident or virusses.
  • easy implementation
  • retention policies in the archive
  • integration on the client.
This is the perfect solution for a quick implementation of archivation. You configure it once and it keeps on going. Users do not need to interact to archive, only to find things back.
  • easy setup in office 365
  • easy client tool to find email
  • set and forget
  • i had no negative impact.
It was a lot cheaper, i mean a awfull lot.

Every office user, who has a mailbox, uses the archiver to find back old emails.

Our support and systems department helps people with the archive solution. Mostly it is : how do i logon, i did not find an email ,etc. Mostly basic user support, but not much.
  • Achive all mails (do not lose any mail)
  • keep the operational mailbox as small as possible
  • retention of mails when co-workers leave
  • We recovered from a grunty old employee who erased all his mails/contact persons
  • even when office 365 is down, in theorie we could see incoming mail...
It is that easy. Set and forget and everything is just working.

It is used all over the whole organization. We tried to solve many problems with it. The first problem was to reduce mailbox size in Outlook, which we managed with the outlook add-in and stubbing. Second thing was reducing power on the mail servers. We did this by reducing the database sizes after implementing Barracuda. Last and most important thing is that we can store easily our mails for 10 years and more, what the government wants from us.
  • Archiving with journaling.
  • Search with WebClient.
  • Search with Add-In.
  • Stubbing.
For every company which is too big for MailStore. MailStore is much cheaper and easier...so mostly enough for 5 to 20 people companies. But for all bigger companies with 200 plus users it is the right solution. Please be sure, that it is not easy to get it running. But when it runs, it is mostly stable.
  • Government confirmed archiving
  • E-Mail Backup for the Users
  • Long term archiving is good.
  • Integrating of many PSTs cost extra money for PST Enterprise. This should be included.
For us it is important that it is stable. Because of this we thought it is a good idea to buy a clustered station. Barracuda can do this and we bought 2 1050 boxes and linked them. At the end the price was also okay...we also evaluated Symantec and at the end both were candidates but Barracuda made better price.

  • Government Mail Archiving
  • E-Mail Backup for the users
  • Powerful search in Mailbox for the users.
  • We need less Mailrecoveries since then!
  • E-Mail Dedublicaton with mailheader and Date/Time
I would give a ten...but I don´t know the benefit in 2 years between Barracuda in Cloud and Microsoft in Situ Mailarchive. Lets see then!

Mail Archiving...good to use and relieable.
To the time of evaluation Microsoft was no choice. But all companies are improving and it might be interesting if microsoft can now handle mailarchives better then a few years ago.
  • Implemented in-house
  • Third-party professional services
Protea Networks
No
Change management was a small part of the implementation and was well-handled
There were a few functions which were discovered during implementation. These functions made the implementation a few weeks longer.
  • User schooling was very complicated.
  • Configuring offline functionality with full harddrives.
Think about using offline archives. They make a lot of trouble. Better train your users to use the Outlook Addin Search without using offline archives, which need a lot of power, network and harddrive space.
Headers only functionality was promised years ago but is still not implemented.
The support in Vienna is very, very great. They are fast and can support almost all problems by themselves. Especially Mr. Michael Holzer is a very high specialist and you can ask him almost everything. Just write a mail to emeasupport and you will be sure, that some minutes or hours later you will get a kind and professional call.
No because german support in vienna is great. No need for premium.
Yes
Yes it was solved with a script. After a few month it came with new firmware.
The team in vienna always tries to solve all of your problems. One time we wanted message ID deduplication and they made it for us.
The product is good but for this specific product there are often some technical problems. Mostly support in Vienna can solve them soon. The development is very, very slow. I have asked for some changes. They gave the okay to make it with a feature request...but 3 years later there is still no code for my problems. Not even one feature request was done.
  • Rollout of Outlook Addin
  • Using the webclient
  • Getting started with Message Archiver
  • Getting Users schooled on the product.
  • PST Handlement.
Yes
The App only works well with iOS on managed devices. It would be better if it would work more stable.
