The IT team utilizes Barracuda Managed Workplace to remotely support all workstations within and outside our company network. It also plays a critical role in automated notifications to members of our tier 2 support for server notifications and errors.
  • Server Error/Status Notifications
  • Remote Desktop Support
  • Warranty/Hardware Information
  • Helpdesk function
  • Software Deployment
With a lot of fine-tuning, it works very well to keep the Tier 2 team aware of almost any variable of interest of notification from your servers. You can automate scripts to deploy based on these events. It's cut down the amount of time spent digging around for answers or sifting through logs. Software deployment could use a lot of work for simplicity. We opted for other apps to accomplish this. The helpdesk function may work for those needing something basic, but again, we opted for a full ITSM based on ITIL. It works well for Remote Desktop Support, even for support on the fly for those who don't have the Premium Desktop app installed.

  • Positive - but not something we measured
  • Barracuda Managed Workplace definitely handles live notifications better then Lansweeper.
  • We currently use Lansweeper for Software Deployment and Patch Management
  • Nagios has better visuals for network layout and heartbeat monitoring
  • We are assessing TeamViewer/AnyDesk now for better Remote Desktop support. But Barracuda does handle this task very well and we wouldn't be put out to continue using Barracuda for this.
We've tried many times to work with support to accomplish various tasks in the system with minimal responsiveness and success. Most of what we have accomplished has been without support and through trial/error.

It's used across our whole organization to monitor, manage, and remote into our customers' networks for support. It solves issues by providing automation and one central location to manage IT services for most of our customers.
  • Very good reporting. We provide monthly reports to our customers on remote access, patching, etc.
  • Multiple methods of remote access. This is helpful because different scenarios require different remote access methods.
  • The site is easy to navigate/manage. There is not a big learning curve for new employees.
  • Their built-in Avast antivirus has a lot of issues. When we used it we had a lot of performance and compatibility issues, and have had to move almost everyone off of it and onto other antivirus vendors.
  • Patch Management is lacking at times. We've had issues with some devices not getting certain patches or falling way behind. I don't think patch management issues are unique to Managed Workplace though, I believe a lot of RMM's have issues with this category.
It is very good for Managed Service Providers to be able to monitor and manage multiple clients at a time from one central location. Many things can be automated through it so that they don't require your constant attention. It would not be as appropriate for internal use at a company, is more suited for MSP's.

  • It has had a positive impact by saving time in the ease of remote access from one central location.
  • It is competitively priced or slightly cheaper than other options.
  • SolarWinds Remote Monitoring & Management
I have only used SolarWinds a little bit. I prefer what I have seen from Avast Managed Workplace. There seem to be more automation features in Managed Workplace that are helpful. That being said, I don't have a ton of experience with SolarWinds.
It's kind of hit or miss on the level of support from tier 1. Tier 2 seems to be more consistent when you can get things escalated. They just recently added the ability to open tickets via email, which is nice, where previously it was phone call only.

Our entire organization uses it to manage and monitor all of our customer's devices.
  • It's a great way to monitor all of the devices that our customers have.
  • Remote services are easy to use and very convenient.
  • Sometimes when using Premium Remote it says that the wrong password was entered but the password is auto-filled by the program, not the user.
It is very well suited for businesses that need to monitor and manage a lot of devices. Or even just users that need to remote into other computers.

  • It has really helped us in reporting. We need to show our customers that our monitoring is helping them and the reports are very helpful in doing that.
I have not used anything else.
I have not personally contacted support but my coworkers have and they have gotten the help they need most of the time.

Comprehensive Monitoring

We use Avast RMM (previously Level Platform) with collaboration with another MSP managing about 900 endpoints for various clients. Some of the clients only use it for monitoring purposes and the remainders for full helpdesk supports. The RMM features comprehensive monitoring, patch management, remote control, asset management, and reporting, among other things.
  • Agentless, unlike most RMM, you don't need to download and install an agent on the devices. The onsite manager (OM) will scan the entire domain for computers, network devices, printers, etc.
  • Remote access: Users have to select whether to access shared screen or via RDP.
  • Detail Dashboard Information: it has a very reach feature that displays information about system components.
  • It needs better monitoring features for network devices such as Cisco instead of customizing SNMP MIBs.
  • Patch Management needs to be more consistent. At times, random computers would run patches outside the configured schedule.
Avast RMM is not well suited for small MSP or just starting out due to its pricing. It's a comprehensive RMM suite and it requires a lot of time customizing, fine-tuning, and tweaking to fit your MSP business model. Since it's an agentless RMM, it will need hardware for the onsite manager.
  • Pricing Model is not for small or newly established MSPs.

We started to use AVG Managed Workplace 10 in the summer of 2017 when we moved from LabTech and Continuum. The reporting feature is just amazing to work with. The most used one is the table grid view of any device which can provide every single detail to show them to customers. I love most AVG's design, interface, and sections which are super customizable.
  • Customer Care is helpful
  • Reporting tools are great
  • Super customizable
  • It can be hard to use at first glance
  • Does not work well on weak and old laptops
  • Otherwise everything is perfect
AVG Managed Workplace 10 is some kind of application that every company must have, you will see the difference that your money is not being wasted. There are tons of good templates and alerts for pc desktops and servers. Though it can be difficult to use at first, you will adapt the environment and the interface quickly.
  • PSA Integration
  • SNMP monitoring needs to be updated
  • Scrolling bugs and patching also needs improvements
  • Remote connections don't really work from a Mac
  • Slow cloud hosted
AVG Managed Workplace has more tools and features. The pre-existing templates and alerts are working properly while Continuum does not even provide service like that. There are some specific tools to work with and they are super easy to complete the task, for example, you can show what was replaced for your client. You can do it with others and even with Excel, but with table grid view mode of AVG will help you to do it more easily.
