-
Consider Other Tools for Advanced Functionalities: While users find Basecamp handy for organizing projects, offering instructions and feedback, some reviewers suggest using a more advanced tool, like Monday.com, for large teams collaborating on projects. However, users caution against using it for purposes other than its intended use and highlight that compared to more advanced tools, it might seem basic and limited in benefits. (1-25 of 77)Basecamp: My Cloud Collaboration Toolbox
- Task management
- Collaboration with colleagues
- Discussion of relevant issues
- Cloud storage of data/files
- Kanban board
- To-do lists and reminders
- Search content of ALL file types
- Video collaboration
- Charge too much
- Fail to notify parties of new communications
- Confuse customers
- Functions are hard for clients to use and collaborate with
- Messages ( including important ones ) were not being received by other parties when we or they would ping each other. We would sit there waiting for each other, while we had often both already responded. Costs time, looks bad, annoying. Was nail in the coffin for us with Basecamp. We paid ahead for the year and I still axed it half way through for ClickUp, which is much much cleaner.
- In my experience, the interface is not intuitive, and is ugly.
- In my opinion, the price is way too high for failing basic proj mgmt app needs

- Showing timelines visually which would allow you to see if a project is on track
- I would love to be able to have projects under teams

Basecamp Fan for Life
- Ease of use - friendly enough for less tech-savvy clients
- Control of user permissions - we can manage which data the client has access to and which is internal facing, as well as assign different team members access to different projects
- Auto updates and notifications - each user controls how and when they receive various types of updates, and auto-checkins keep everyone up to date
- Simplified task management ensures that the process stays streamlined
- While creating sub-groups within lists is helpful, it would be nice to have a better way to tag tasks with attributes, like priority level
- Rigid structure is nice for simplification, but for some projects more flexibility is needed
- No Gantt-type view or way to create dependencies or relationships between tasks and deadlines
Basecamp - Simple and easy to use all-in-one project management tool for small teams
- Project Management.
- Internal communication between team members.
- Internal collaboration between team members on product features.
- Managing timelines so that work can be delivered in time.
- Keeping evidence of all requirements and delivery of these requirements through Basecamp for clients.
- Adding team members in between pings so that they can join the same conversation.
- Reports for tracking team member's schedule and availability.
- Only selected people in the project should be allowed to communicate with clients added on Basecamp for clients.

- Keep a project organized
- Working as a group
- Assigning a project

Great tool for those who want visibility in projects, and need to organize work and docs
- Project Cards allow for nice organization
- Team Collaboration/Views
- Good way to organize docs/files
- Doesn't offer high level views of all projects
- Would love it it was able to show entire company/team workflow
- You have to make all changes by project cards, which adds extra work rather than global changes
Best Project Management
- Task assign

- Timelines
- Pricing
- Team members are not showing online.
- Real time value is not showing.
- Basecamp is easy to get started using.
- Basecamp has a friendly interface.
- Basecamp allows for community and communication.
- Basecamp lacks a powerful templating system.
- Basecamp silos each project.
- Basecamp lacks a detailed single pane of glass/dashboard to oversee multiple projects.
- Task management - It is very easy to add, organize and discuss tasks within Basecamp's interface.
- The "Campfire" function is great for communicating when you just have a quick question for someone on the team.
- Notifications - Basecamp lets you decide how often and about what you'd like to be notified. The ability to respond to messages in Basecamp directly via email saves a lot of time.
- I wish Basecamp had more view options. For example, it'd be nice to have a built in gantt option like other task management tools have.
- Basecamp does not have the ability to add subtasks to tasks.
- Time tracking is not built into Basecamp. You have to use third-party integrations if you want to add a time tracking feature.
- Ease of use
- Simple and clear layout
- One tool for almost everything
- Not good for complicated projects
- No dependency tracking
- No subtasks
- Slow to load
- Delayed or missing notifications
Basecamp Keeps Us on Track
- Very intuitive.
- Changes and updates by team members are real time.
- The ability to create templates saves an incredible amount of time.
- Updates should be included in the purchase price.
- Projects should be able to be copied - later versions of the product may include this ability; ours does not.
- Assigning a team member and a date to a task should be able to be completed all in one click. Right now we have to assign the task then go back in and assign a date. This is more time consuming but it's still a quick process.
- It does simple project management and organization really well.
- The daily questions and reminders kept our team engaged and updated.
- It saved us money each month with their single tiered price.
- I wish it had nested tasks lists.
- We had a lot of small projects and the list got really long. There wasn't a great way to sort or organized them.
- There were times when we found that we had too much going on in a single project and wished there was more organizational options to sort better. We had to change a little how we thought about larger projects and break them down into smaller ones.
Basecamp is the ultimate Team Basecamp
- Communication
- Collaboration on projects
- Organizing tasks
- Creating projets together
- There is nothing they don't do well
- Easy to organize teams and projects
- The project templates are helpful if you have yearly events, etc
- Customizable notifications settings are great
- It would be great to be able to integrate the to-dos into the calendar
Happy With Basecamp
- Creating and assigning work tasks
- Tracking progress
- Keeping in touch with the team on tasks
- I wish there was a timeline view for seeing how far tasks are moving toward [an] end goal
- A more front and center chat area for the team
- To-Do lists
- Collaboration
- Accountability
- Privacy controls
- Mobile app/desktop app syncing
- Cost
- Relational deadlines and workflows
- Calendar-view project management
- Design
- Prioritization
Cost-Effective and Feature-Rich
The primary role for Basecamp is our unified platform for tracking and progressing work across all our delivery programmes. We wanted to centralise this in a single toolset to ensure all stakeholders have full and clear visibility on all communications, progress and plans. A key driver for this choice of platform is to do away with multiple services that result in disjointed flow, such as email, document repositories and desktop documentation tools.
- Ease of use meaning that non-technical users can be onboarded with minimal training required
- Range of features meaning that you can use Basecamp as your core project management platform and don't need to rely on other tools in conjunction
- Good collaborative features to encourage adoption and management of end-to-end process on Basecamp
- Ability to create project & task list templates to speed up new project/task creation
- Reporting is limited; some export facilities to track task progression would help
- The ability to create recurring tasks
If you're looking for a solution for very complex practice management then you may find challenges with Basecamp (it doesn't support a full agile/scrum model, for example). However if you want a platform that can be provisioned within minutes and can be deployed across an organisation at speed then Basecamp is definitely the answer!
Great basic project management tool. No frills.
- I enjoy the calendar view. As long as you're always assigning deadline dates to the tasks, the looking at the calendar view can really help you determine your outlook for the day, the week, and quickly see any tasks past due that need to be addressed or moved.
- It's easy to bring in outside people in on projects and give them access to that particular project to collaborate just on that.
- Duplicating projects or task lists is a helpful feature when you have a recurring task list. It makes it easy to have the same process every time you want to execute the task list.
- I use Basecamp V2 because the newer V3 misses some functionality of V2. It seems it was built for a slightly different purpose. Unfortunately, V2 is not seeing feature updates as often as V3
- Integration with other platforms would be nice. For example, I'd love to see my personal calendar or my business Outlook calendar overlaid on the Basecamp calendar, but this is not a possibility currently.
- I can subscribe to Basecamp's iCal to show the Basecamp calendar on my personal calendar, which is handy, but it is quite limited. I can't see any detail about the task aside from the title. None of the description or information on what project or task list the task is attached to.
- The interface is beautiful and intuitive
- It is very easy to see what tasks you need to work on
- Coordination between other users is simple and effective
- I'd like to see some other visual representation of tasks, like a Kanban board
- The calendar-based report of tasks would be helpful but it was too crowded
- Recurring templates were a pain to use (e.g., if you want the same tasks every month)
Basecamp is all the Buzz!
- Unlimited users and projects. It's great for multiple purposes and it allows you to receive a free two month trial without providing a credit card and it gives you access to every tool and feature unlike many other softwares.
- User friendly. It's a simple design and you don't need to worry about losing information as it auto saves everything. You are able to retrieve any deleted files for about a month. The mobile apps are great and Basecamp allows you to make a to do list.
- Customer support is efficient even though they don't provide the level of support other software does, they are quick to respond to emails and questions.
- It's great at allowing you to have a detailed discussion with a group, advertise an upcoming event and easily provide updates. They send email communications when there is an update in a group you are in however you could filter and opt out of this feature.
- Unable to customize your interface. You are unable to insert a logo or change features like color schemes.
- It's limited in features. It's great for task management and communication. There needs to be more reporting and budgeting.
- To do items are unable to be set to recurring, i wish there were more in depth features for customization. There's a lack of a traditional calendar view.
Basecamp brought us all together!
- Easy to see what actions had been completed and what was outstanding.
- Quick way to get a message to multiple users.
- It all worked really well for our promotion - nothing extra was needed.
