Hatchbuck stores the company's customer and prospect database and helps us stay in regular touch with customers and nurture prospects till they purchase. We don't like to cold calling for new business. Hatchbuck helps us engage people searching for our kind of marketing automation expertise and then educate them until they're ready for human contact with us. Hatchbuck's tracking system allows us to tag new prospects with their interests so we are smarter when we have those warmed-up conversations.
  • Very easy to learn and use. Navigation is intuitive.
  • Scoring feature is customizable and covers all the basics: email opens and click-thrus, web visits, form submits.
  • Customer service is fast and helpful; your questions are treated with urgency because they know you're probably on a deadline.
  • Pricing is very fair for all you get in a subscription.
  • No phone app yet.
  • API is only 1 way (into Hatchbuck).
  • No Boolean logic to filter on (although this feature is allegedly coming).
Hatchbuck works best for solpreneurs or small workgroups where sharing information is supported. If a sales org has low trust, Hatchbuck won't be a good fit because there is no contact-level security and the "record email" feature is "all or nothing," meaning if it's on, any user will be able to read anyone's email correspondence. We solved this by not turning on the record email feature, but for some businesses, this is not ideal.
  • Hatchbuck has changed how we built out our website, generated and followed up with leads and make decisions on who not to follow up with.
  • Hatchbuck is much more efficient than the previous CRM we used (Act Software) because we can work out of a single database for CRM, email and marketing automation. It used to take me 2 hours to design an email template; now it takes me 15 minutes in Hatchbuck.
  • List segmentation is not as easy as it could be because of the lack of Boolean logic in the filtering and I wish we could automate responses based on scoring (currently only tags are automatable). But I know Hatchbuck is working on this and I can live with it because everything else works so well.

For very basic CRM, email and marketing automation, Hatchbuck is a clear winner on feature set, price and ease of use. Lots of bells and whistles are great if you use them. But many of our clients don't want to learn, maintain and pay for that much technology. However, more savvy users will outgrow Hatchbuck very quickly, so be sure to do a thorough needs analysis before you invest time and resources into setting it up.
They typically respond with the correct answer (not a "I'll have to check" answer) within 2 hours. They know me and remember my previous questions which often helps with context of the new problem
No
For some questions, my answer includes video how-tos and a link to the knowledge base, in addition to a personal response from the support team. Besides questions I may have for my own personal database, we're also servicing client databases, so service is very important. Hatchbuck delivers exceptional and polite service 100% of the time.

Hatchbuck (HB) contains all past and current customers and all new leads. In addition to nurturing leads via emails and campaigns, we use HB to stay in contact with our customer base using newsletters and special announcements. I've used other CRM systems in the past that were not fully integrated like HB with my contact database; thus contacts stats such as clicks were separate from the contact records. Also, I find creating emails and campaigns are easier and intuitive. Lastly, I've become more dependent on the forms feature. I now have forms to enter leads and register contacts for events and combined with Weebly, I can now enable leads to register and purchase online while automatically tracking all activity.
  • Emails creation: The drag-and-drop email creator is very easier to learn and powerful enough to create graphical; click-based emails.
  • Website Page navigation notices: using the Java Script forms provided in NB, I was able to add notices of whenever a registered HB contact clicks on one of my webpages.
  • Scoring, Tags and Tag Actions: using the Scoring feature, my leads are automatically elevated/reduced in priority bases on they actions (i.e. a link click increases their score while and unsubscribe reduces. I didn't immediately appreciate the power tags but now I use tags to note a variety of important information such as lead interests. Last, I use Lead Actions to immediately send a targeted email to leads that clicked 1 or more times on an email or website link that shows a particular interest as a Photography.
  • Campaigns: I'd like to see some fully created sample campaigns with a series emails so I have examples.
  • Fee: I'd like to see an incremental fee structure rather than the current doubling from $99 to $199 per month. I'd really like to maintain more than 2500 contacts but the next level for 10,000 contacts to twice and far more contacts than I need. Likewise, I would like to have 2-3 users but it would cost double to add them. I believe this fee structure is leaving money on the table since am not willing to double my monthly fee but would consider an incremental increase.
Hatchbuck is best suited for businesses with a large customer base that continually receive new qualified leads.
  • On a ROI basis, Hatchbuck has helped me to better nurture new leads and to keep my current customers informed of my services. I've only been using HB for about 6 months but have seen a significant increase in customer and leads responses with several sales solely attributed to HB.

Hatchbuck has been a godsend. We switched from HubSpot.

While Hatchbuck does not have all the bells and whistles of other marketing automation softwares, it serves as a CRM and Marketing Automation tool that allows our small business clients to do inbound marketing at an affordable rate, while not compromising quality of delivery.

We mainly implement Hatchbuck for:

  • Segmentation of lists
  • Contact scoring
  • Email marketing
  • A sales pipeline management
  • Real people on the support team.
  • Unparallelled support and communication with agency partners.
  • Email marketing and lead scoring.
  • Integration with many other applications via Zapier.
  • Marketing analytics reports beyond email could be improved. (i.e. Competitor website ranking, seo recommendations, etc.)
  • A real WordPress plugin would be awesome
  • Built-in Landing pages. Currently you have option to integrate with several providers.
  • Not ideal for enterprises requiring ERP- level software.
  • Not a great e-commerce solution.

Perfect for service based business [insurance, realtors, plumbers, etc.], small companies where lead generation is essential [ manufacturers, distributors, Chamber of Commerce, etc.]

Non-profit organizations are a great fit due to the cost of entry and list segmentation features within Hatchbuck.
  • Improve quality of leads going to leads.
  • Improve ability to nurture relationship in a timely manner.
  • Increase perceived value from customers.

  • HubSpot,infusionsoft,MailChimp,AWeber
Hatchbuck is in a class by itself.

Hubspot and Infusionsoft are awesome, but, there is too much to understand and layers of tools which sometimes end up taking up more time than the typical small business owner has to invest.

On the other hand, AWeber and MailChimp offer great email marketing, but, that is all. In order to really grow, small businesses need more.

Hatchbuck sits right smack dab in the middle. It offers the basics of marketing automation, CRM, and integration flexibility to make it the small business sales and marketing tool of choice. All for $99 per month.

  • Marketing - responsible for top of the funnel lead capture, MQL assessments and nurturing.
  • Sales - responsible for middle of the funnel opportunity nurturing to close, SQL assessments, and pipeline reports.
  • Operations - responsible for fulfillment, and alignment between sales and marketing.

Hatchbuck is a major resource for allowing these relationships to work together smoothly.
3
We have three in-house staff members, but, we also lean on the 40+ amazing staff members at Hatchbuck.

Most businesses can manage Hatchbuck themselves with as little as 1 employee, and a little side support from a Hatchbuck Partner Agency.

Hatchbuck, also offers a marketplace where their certified partners offer a la cart services to small businesses.
  • Website webforms
  • Automated campaigns
  • Task management
  • Contact score alerts
  • Tag rules
  • Tag rules allow for deep segmentation.
  • If they ever add landing pages (LPs) with the ability to easily connect to a [sub]domain name, we would be able to save time by using the designs with the email templates to create our LPs, and then use the links on PPC and Social Media.
In case you can't tell, we are in love with Hatchbuck software. Could it be improved? Of course it could, but, based on our current needs, and the needs of our existing and targeted clients so far, Hatchbuck presents the best fit option available.

As a partner we are looking to grow with Hacthbuck into the future.
Yes
HubSpot. Great company. Great software. Great business model. But, too expensive for our company needs. I felt like just another partner to them. Our agency is too small, and too simple for them. Our clients do not have $2500 monthly retainer budget for us - plus $600 per month for software.

We were looking at switching from HubSpot to either Infusionoft or Hatchbuck.

While we do miss some of the recommendation reports and built-in features from what we can tell it was a very wise decision.

I always get a response within 24 hours, unless I ask on a weekend. The team seems to work together to resolve my issues, answer my questions, and update me on changes. In fact, they have even connected [with] me to ask how they can improve the Hatchbuck software and their service. This is why I love them so much.

Yes, Nicci Anderson called me just to introduce herself and ask if I had any specific questions related to Hatchbuck. She then took the time to guide me through a few areas I needed support in. She followed up on the conversation with a real email with links to resources and materials to help me with any remaining questions I might have.
  • Designing email templates
  • Adding / importing contacts
  • Adding webforms to website
  • Having to add a tracking code to each page, versus having one code for an entire Wordpress site.
  • Connecting to a landing page.
Yes
Compared to others - very good. However, could be improved.
Hatchbuck offers on-boarding, training, and has a suite of videos, which makes it super easy to get started. As with any software that is the key. Have a plan, stay focused, and get started. Once, you begin to play with Hatchbuck you will see that it is very user friendly.
