I tried using an open-source platform and debated using this instead of BigCommerce. The open-source platform would be cheaper on a month to month basis and much more flexible when it came to customization, but was far more expensive to get initially set up and required us to carry much more in house expertise.

BigCommerce even with add-ons such as a PIM and B2B functionality wins for small businesses on affordability and ease of use. No servers or updates to worry about and no expensive agencies to pay. This being said, if the budget were no issue, for larger organisations Magento is perhaps a better option.

We switched from Shopify due to the restrictions they implemented on our industry. While we spent tens of thousands of dollars investing in our Shopify store, we can't have them cutting us off anytime they want. We reviewed WooCommerce, but didn't like the storefront or backend. Plus it seems like Wordpress/WooCommerce runs into tons of hacking issues and bugs.

BigCommerce is quick, easy to setup with tons of features, easy to integrate with other applications. All of these great features are available for very less as compared to other application. We have tried multiple application but BigCommerce is one of those who never disappoints you. I recommed everyone to give it a try.

We have stuck with Big Commerce due to the amount of work and build outs we have created with the system. The issues we have come across do not raise too many red flags that we would need to switch programs at this time. If we do it is due to the promotion/ sales restrictions, subscription app, etc.

BigCommerce has more modern tools than Yahoo Small Business, is managed unlike WordPress/WooCommerce, and is cheaper than Shopify with better product options management.

Every criterion we evaluated against BigCommerce either won outright or held its own. What got us over the line was the incredible personal support at every step of the way from onboarding and implementation through to BAU. I had a support ticket this morning which I resolved over their fantastic live chat within about 8 minutes! BigCommerce also had by far the most robust roadmap for future use, and they have teams who engage with customers when building new features and functionality - I feel like part of the family!

BigCommerce VS Shopify: Do I like Shopify? Yes. Has Shopify positioned itself as more of a get rich quick drop shipping platform, and alternative to marketplaces like Etsy? Also yes. Listen, I still like Shopify a lot, and there are absolutely still cases where I feel Shopify is the best option out there. Shopify is beautiful on the front-end, you'll definitely have a fantastic looking website, but on the back end, which is very À la carte, it just feels like you get more nickel and dimed to death for some simple functionality, that at this point should be native to the platform. I will say that Shopify's native email marketing, pay as you go, is a really nice feature.

BigComemrce VS Square/Weebly: We're talking about two hemp-friendly eCom platforms, and while you can absolutely build yourself a nice eCom website on Square/Weebly...it can be at times a frustratingly simple website. Super basic, which is both good and bad in that, if you're new to website, it's easy to work with. If you're a person with any professional experience, I promise, Square/Weebly will probably frustrate. In most cases I would recommend BigCommerce.

BigCommerce VS WordPress: If I'm managing a website or an eCommerce website, I like both options, but I would say that because I have ten years experience doing so, I find both platforms to be robust, and easy to work with, whereas a person new to this world would probably have a hard time navigating either platform.

osCommerce was our previous platform. It worked great for what it was but was too difficult to maintain and behind the times. When looking for a replacement, Squarespace and Shopify were both evaluated. Squarespace was not responsive at the time and did not support all of the features we needed (payment integrations, templates, etc). Shopify has great features and great reviews but the cost of the service and overall cost structure was more. BigCommerce provided the best value.

The only other product similar to BigCommerce we have used is a content editing tool that was created and customized for us. The small company that did this for us was not nearly as responsive with their customer service and they did not attempt to continually improve the editing tool.

Integrations with Shopify were inadequate, and we felt the overall impression was too informal, without the backend flexibility our catalog requires. As for Magento, I had experience at a previous company with Magento and was never very satisfied with any part of it. I took a new look when searching for the right solution at Unique Lift Parts and found not much changed.

BigCommerce simply blows them out of the water. Magento took a nosedive in security and reliability, and their support team "assured" us the issue was fixed on 3 separate occasions. BigCommerce took the opportunity to be crystal clear about how they manage and store our server instances and customer data. Their uptime has been impeccable, and we have never once feared for security issues.

Most reliable and robust e-commerce solution for the price. Easy to learn and to continue to use. Great user and customer management. Product capabilities are way better than the competition. It doesn't take a long time to onboard an entire business' inventory and get to selling. That's truly important to see ROI. Getting back to selling fast. With WordPress, something is always broken. Shopify is a child compared to BigCommerce. Other CMS's are basically deprecated.

BigCommerce gave us room to grow. It seemed to offer options further than we would have had [an] interest in going. The list/choices of apps were great. I do not know if the individuals who wrote the 3rd party apps were vetted, it really felt like they were. They know industry leaders. [It offers] simple, few-click options to have a presence on all relevant marketplaces [in] 2021.

BigCommerce beats all of these platforms on almost every important feature. There are a few places that Shopify is a little better, but it doesn't outweigh BigCommerce dominance in virtually every important category.

I would say they are very close. I do not like WooCommerce however Shopify is also good. I am not sure if I would be able to persuade someone to not open and Shopify store and go with BigCommerce because both are good, however, I would not hesitate in asking any interested company to look seriously at BigCommerce and give it a go.

Bigcommerce is the best option for cost-effective and easily customizable integrated with Wordpress. It lacks the advanced reporting and analytics features as say a Shopify but has just as many integration options. Not quite as sophisticated of a user interface but still gets the job done if you take the time to learn their dashboard. Typically more cost-effective than Shopify as well so it’s a better fit for smaller organizations.
