  • I can not think of anything at this moment per say as I have been happy with really everything so far, and for what I have done with my site, I have not found anything all that cumbersome, maybe more of a learning curve on my side vs something they did wrong.

  • [I feel] theme editing is terrible and basically useless.
  • [I believe] the whole process of managing orders is poorly thought out.
  • [In my experience] everything requires a poorly integrated third party app.

  • Options and option sets can be a little difficult at times
  • Not being able to edit category page SEO on the CSV
  • Logging out - they keep moving this and it's pretty annoying
  • Getting your contact page location map sorted can be tiresome

  • I really don't like the fact I can't edit the whole of the home page without technical support, even the details around the head of the page are not visable to the layman.
  • Also, the options for Banners or Pods are a bit limiting and could be re-thought to make it as easy to edit as the product pages.

  • Organization of products in the admin. No way to make folders of products; it's just one big list
  • Shipping options on products that have both downloadable and shippable components.
  • Analytics are not as easy as they could be.

  • Sort order (or display order) of products in categories. You have to manage this one product at a time.
  • Tax display settings. It would be easier to let the customers decide front end whether they want to see prices with/without tax. Instead, you have to choose for them.
  • Google shopping. If you have complicated product options, it's easier setting up a custom Google feed than using the built-in feature.

  • Product Options/Option Sets require a bit of a learning curve at first.
  • Handlebars are a new "language" to learn. Though it is useful in BC development, it is another unique coding language you have to get acquainted with before making substantial changes.
  • Acknowledging that BigCommerce is not a content platform, nor does it claim to be, BigCommerce's internal content system is not well implemented. The WYSIWYG (different than the one used in product & site pages) is not very effective, the images aren't shared between the content and product images, and there is a lot of functionality that could make BC much better. I would love for BC's blog and the rest of the site to share resources, so I wouldn't have to re-upload images to use them in the blog side, or relevant articles would show up on product pages without having to hardcode them into the product description.

  • Options are not difficult/cumbersome so much as confusing. The option master vs option specific details could be more like OpenCart.
  • Would be great to have time expiration date on individual product and options.
  • Customizing location of social media could be easier
