Compared to Network Solutions
I am using Stencil which it turns out is not HTML friendly. I have to hire a company in India to do updates and other changes now. Not so happy with that.

As always, this depends on the company, products, and services you are offering. However, at the bare minimum, you need someone with intermediate computer skills that know how to use web apps to add content. You'll need to make sure you have a payment gateway integrated (it's not too difficult to set up. Just sign up for one in the payments section).

Currently, I am the only person. However, I can see how a marketing person, a dedicated web site maintenance person, would integrate into our process. Really as I become more familiar with the platform, and our business gets bigger a dedicated person for these segments would greatly improve our site performance and user experience.

Everyone in our business is new to the BigCommerce program. We have all pooled our skills to learn as much as we can to keep ourselves moving forward and keep our business growing. We have a team member who specializes in IT, so we rely on him quite a bit to communicate with BigCommerce support reps to troubleshoot issues as they come up.

I am the tech support for BigCommerce. I answer questions about any problems from the other users. I also am a programmer and I use BigCommerce to customize our sites. My skills include HTML, CSS, javascript and the technology that supports the Stencil framework. I also keep track of the domains, SSL and install apps for things like shipping.

We need people who have basic to intermediate computer skills to manage items in BigCommerce. Many functions of BC are very user-friendly, but most of the manual customization required intermediate-advanced understanding of needs of both business as well as BC systems to make the customer-side more user-friendly/clean/visually appealing. If you have someone who can learn the BC side, and has a strong understanding of what your customers needs are, you will be in great hands with this platform.
