We originally had a custom site. When it became outdated, we looked at several options -- particularly Shopify, Wix and SquareSpace, among others. We needed improve shipping integration and the ability to sell in international markets. We decided to go with BigCommerce because it enabled easy integration with multiple shipping providers.

It replaced two things actually. My not so great webstore I used to run along with a separate website. Now I have everything in one site making it easier for my customers to find what they need but also having everything all in one place in general is rather nice.
I am VERY happy to be with BigCommerce compared to the way I was doing things as my webstore was not very good and I struggled to keep it going and never had any time to work on my website.
But now having everything in once place I can easily edit, I really am happy about things compared to the way they were.

Network Solutions/Ecommerce (monster commerce platform)
Their platform has not changed in over 10 years, horrible mobile options (can only show 3 products on mobile home page) and interface is old and cumbersome.

This is a tricky question. We used a 3rd-party online store but wanted to do everything in-house instead as the margins were much greater. Once Shopkeep and BigCommerce partnered together, this was a no-brainer as I was already using Shopkeep as our in-arena POS.

We replaced Shopify with BigCommerce. We found that Shopify was not as responsive and actually prevented us from listing products since we are a surgical equipment dealer. They felt that anything with "medical" in the name needed FDA documentation. We provided them with our vendor's (the manufacturer's) documentation, but that did not seem to matter. Converting to BigCommerce from Shopify was extremely easy. Everything imported.

It replaced Odoo back when it was called Open ERP. Open ERP was a completely custom system which made it difficult to get up and running right away. We only used it for about 6 months before we started looking for another solution. We looked at shopify, open erp, and bigcommerce.

We were using WordPress for our website needs. As our business expanded the need for an online channel to continue our growth was needed. The current state of retail, especially in the skate industry, demanded that we go online not only to expand our sales but to harness social media platforms. We needed a platform that harnessed what we had already built, and easily, reliably allowed us to build it further, and still gave us the freedom and tools to do it in our own unique way.

We were on the Volusion platform for 4 years. We finally started to see some traffic come to the website and our cost due to bandwidth almost tippled in price. We didn't have an increase in sales (due to the number of visits it takes for someone to purchase our products), so we couldn't afford the cost of Volusion and expect to grow our business at all.

We did not decide that we wanted to replace Shopify and Magento, BigCommerce simply continues to prove again and again that it is the best choice for the worlds fastest growing, mid-market, online brands.

It offers powerful e-commerce tools that allow users to customize their site, manage shipping & payments, list products on social & retail sites. Mobile-ready storefront, secure & PCI compliant, native integration with many third-party apps and 100+ features included as standard.

We used BigCommerce to replace a client's old Squarespace site. Though Squarespace is a great platform that makes great looking sites with ease, we needed a platform that had a bit more power under the hood, so to speak. We chose BigCommerce because it offered the features we needed for this project at the best price point. Additionally, BigCommerce's templates allowed us to reduce our development lead time, keeping the client happy and allowing us to focus more attention and dev hours on the labor intensive parts of the project. Finally, BigCommerce's pricing system allows us to keep the website relatively low-cost until we turn on the last few features that will promote the page to Enterprise pricing.
