Companies can't remove reviews or game the system. Here's why

I think we would have made the exact same decision for the exact same reason. There really wasn't a better option for our needs, and the other possibilities required us to change the way our business worked or limited us in some functionality. We've been very pleased with our decision.

I think the only thing I would have done different when looking for a place to host my webstore was to ask friends who already are running company's where they were using and why vs me looking at all the sites and doing a trial if they offered it, to see if it was right for me.
I think I would have asked them and then made my list shorter to save time and energy looking all over.

I would spend more time nailing down our plan and vision for our website and how it will all works together. Sometimes it's difficult to evaluate because you don't always know where your company will be in a few years. But I will still spend more time nailing that down.

I think I would change a few of the integration options. The only kind of poopy experience that I had was with the Shipstation folks. I started with the free option, but then a salesperson called and talked me into the paid option up. It is the only monthly bill we have that kind of bugs me because we haven't don't have the business yet to need that level of membership. What I have appreciated about BigCommerce is that I didn't receive any calls trying to talk me into upgrades my business didn't need.

I'd do it exactly the same way, which was to tentatively choose the platform, and then implement and verify a selection of pages using a test account. If the test pages worked well, then we would set up a live account and move everything across to the new platform.

We would honestly just skip all the hassle and go with an ERP. BigCommerce is an excellent tool, don't misunderstand, it's just that the amount of things our company specifically needed to update would've better been taken care of by one program rather than many programs with lacking connectivity. We need better inventory management, a POS for our brick & mortar, an eCommerce platform for our web store, as well as a CRM to keep track of our customers and leads. BigCommerce helps with some of this, but not all.

One of the main problems we ran into after we had started the project was learning that assets (images, videos, and content) are not shared between the website/product pages and the internal blog pages. We had thought it was one integrated system, which would allow us to use product assets in the the content section and vice versa. If we had to do it over, we may look at other platforms that have a more integrated DAM/CMS or see if there was a separate program/stack we could onboard during the dev process.

I am a consultant in the IT world, so I am constantly evaluating software and hardware solutions as well as various platforms for a multitude of client needs. The biggest change that I have already incorporated into my evaluation process is reading the professional level reviews as provided in forums just like this one (TrustRadius). Anyone selling something does their best to make their product look spectacular and perfect in every way. It's real users' reviews that show you whether there is any truth behind the claims.
