User-friendly software for fundraisers

I did not make this decision, and we were already users of Raiser's Edge database. It just seemed natural to convert to NXT. I like the security of cloud-based, it does integrate well with some other systems (others could use some work). I find it easy to use, some of my colleagues who were to use other systems (also Blackbaud products) did not find the systems easy to use. I honestly cannot imagine trying to do the work I do without this product.

We had a big issue when Raiser's Edge was hosted in house, we wanted to have a custom made database but we didn't have enough time for the implementation, therefore moving to NXT was the quickest alternative.

The single most important factor was for it to be easily used, easily accessible, and help us import data from old software so we could keep records and notes on donors. This helped us not have to retract to an old school way of keeping paper files on donors or past gifts.

The product features are essential, and so we needed to go with the product that satisfied our key needs. CANFAR has used the product for a number of years, without any other products to really compare it to. The history of our constituent records, and the integration with our email communications and finances make it advantageous.

Product features and usability are kind of the same, but the NXT view of the RE data is worlds away from the RE Database. As the director, I rarely go into the database. We have been with RE for 20 years, we know how to use it and the NXT overlay made certain aspects very easy to use. Not sure we were technically a Beta site, but we were very early adopters and we suggested many improvements to the product.
