Task certification—I think it is a really good function; many data are easily available. Less appropriate: Reconciliation—Clone function/Additional rows and adjusting. It is very slow and not user-friendly.

I think the most important part of Blackline is the Journal booking automation. In my previous role, I had to work overtime because at month-end closure, the Journal Vouchers had to be booked, so it was a lot of manual work, booking all the lines one by one. Now, the file is uploaded, and it is done.

If you are searching for a tool that can consolidate, reconcile or keep track of your accounting/tasks, then you found a great tool to use. In my opinion BlackLine is best suited to building a centralized system, where everything works the same way. In the long run this will optimize your workload and simply many processes.

It is very appropriate to use in the framework of multi nationals companies, with a complex set up, multiple entities, partners, countries, etc. BlackLine manages very well these complexities once you have learned how to extract the maximum capacity of it. If you are thinking of smaller companies, I'd say that there are other less expensive and complex solutions.

Having this for audit documentation is very useful as you can look back to any period and find the documentation for any tasks. Additionally, if the documentation remains the same, rolling the documentation from period to period is also very easy.

For tax returns, this isn't the best method as having things due months earlier is clunky, as the due dates are in negative days from the tax return.

Anyone that spends globs of time and money reconciling manually needs this software to make this task easier and less frustrating.

I think BlackLine is useful for organizations that need help with making sure close tasks are completed in a timely manner since it helps facilitate an automated workflow and eliminates the use of a manual checklist. However, I think this would be more useful for an org that has a dedicated close manager who is making sure tasks are being completed and recs are done timely.

BlackLine can be very useful in helping individuals keep track of their monthly, quarterly, and annual tasks to ensure that the team meets all deadlines and goals. Specifically, the recurring tasks and reconciliations are beneficial for teams with very routine month-end close processes and help keep everyone on track. However, if functions are often changing or irregular, BlackLine may be challenging to use as it would need to be updated and tweaked regularly.

Excellent Balance Sheet Reconciliation module. Excellent SAP connector and Matching module Excellent Journal voucher module. Room for improvement is SSO with MS Azure to be set as standard, so organizations to pass easily the authorization groups from MS Azure to BlackLine.

BlackLine provides a very user-friendly platform for journal entry and reconciliation preparation and approval. The software is very easy to navigate when searching for a specific entry, and all pertinent information is easily located.

Well suited for reconciliations of cash deposits from stores, amazing connection with SAP Hana fashion that allows me to save lot of time where reconciliation is already certified with no need to provide support for Audit purposes and for my reference if any adjustment is needed by using the Required adj reports. BlackLine improved my work life for month end activities by reducing my time spent on recs from 10 working days to 5 working days - a whole week !! love it

For my job I relay a lot of journal entry uploads. Until we brought BlackLine on, it was easy to load in SAP but all the other accounting and finance users could not get my backup easily without reaching out to me directly. BlackLine has given the ability to have this readily available to the others.

BlackLine has worked well for our companies, as we have a very old ERP system that is limited to what can be done within the system. Everything was done manually through Excel and binders to keep everything together, and each location had their own way of closing, so there was no consistency. It took longer to complete our close, and it created opportunities for a lack of separation of duties within the process. BlackLine has everything in one place, easy viewing of past months, strict separation of duties implemented (based on your specifications,) easy viewing for an auditor to get everything they need without a lot of hands on from the team, and works the same across all of our global locations, but in their local language and currency. BlackLine may not be a huge assist to those that have ERP systems that can handle doing the Recs, the JE's, the approvals, etc., all within its own system, as long as every location is on the same system. If they are all on different accounting systems, BlackLine can assist in providing consistency across all accounting locations, so processes can be the same no matter where they are located.

BlackLine makes it easy to prepare and review reconciliations. It provides a summary of what is complete and what is remaining, giving management a quick complete snapshot of progress. In addition, the amortization schedule functionality streamlines the reconciliation process and provides an easy-to-read summary. BlackLine has streamlined our close and post-close processes giving our teams more time to focus on more value-adding.

BlackLine is suited for automating mundane tasks and streamlining processes. For example I used to have to manually tie out Excel balance sheet recs to the TB. It was time consuming but necessary to ensure we were within our controls. Now with BlackLine we don't have to do the tie out as it's all automated with the system. Also if a rec is certified but the balance changes after the system will automatically notify the preparer which prevents us from having a higher risk of unreconciled balances.

The ease of use is really helpful for beginners. This system is easily adaptable and can be manipulated to suit your company.

I think BlackLine will provide amazing insight and efficiency to any mid-size or larger company across the world. Many companies do not realize their inefficiencies and BlackLine can provide them a way to more easily succeed. Even companies that think their processes are perfect would stand to give BlackLine a run.

BlackLine is a one-of-a-kind tool in the market. It helps not only with managing IC transactions but also with identifying potential data issues that can help improve data quality and processes upstream.

Bank reconciliation and data matching are two scenarios we have found BlackLine to be the most useful.
