BlackLine could use a little work in getting around the system. The interface is not without its issues including lots of scrolling up and down and a lack of using the entire screen. Importing of the initial setup data could be better defined and reimporting data to add additional fields could pose an issue of overwriting data in a negative way.

Some modules do not have an easy view for teams. There could be more links to go back and forth between the modules. The new feature with the menu bar on the left is the worst idea Blakcline has had. Most of the links in each module are on the left side and it is easy to accidentally move your cursor too far to the left causing the menu to pop out when you do not want it. It is annoying.

Blackline software provides a solution to a necessary process that needs to be complete, accurate, and repeatable. It needed to be accessible to all and it needed to be at a level that spans all types of skill sets. The compilation of results also needed to be clear and concise.

BlackLine has a straightforward user interface for preparers and approvers/reviewers. However, the back end of things can be clumsy or not intuitive. This is a minor issue however, and once everything is set up, it requires very little maintenance to make sure it appears how you need it to going forward.

There are some processes that we currently use that cannot be done in BlackLine. Our users don't want to change their processes or learn new processes even though it would make their jobs easier. We have very few users who have adopted BlackLine fully, and management has not made it a requirement to use the application.

  • Carefully thought out and less complex EUI for great user experiences. This was a plus on the count of user acceptance and adoption during the deployment.
  • Informative dashboards for monitoring progress of various reconciliations during the monthly process
  • BlackLine affords us the opportunity to leverage on automation to avoid some recurring or repetitive tasks in the monthly process.

BlackLine system has brought a lot of convenience to our users. The data which stored into BlackLine cloud is very safe and secure.
