If your corporation has less than a 500 employees this may not be the solution for you but then again it may be depending on your business. Does your business require that you have a direct pulse on your environment? and exactly how valuable to you that your business remains available to you and your customers as well as the true reflection of your environment?

Atrium CMDB is very flexible and can meet needs both small and great. If you're looking to have a central location for all asset information, regardless of type (hardware, software, people, phones, location, etc), Atrium CMDB provides a great value. Especially if you are looking at tying this information into a ticketing system for affected assets. It can also be tied in with BMC Discovery, which will auto update the CMDB with its own discovered data. This is where the product really shines.

Discovering all of an org's assets is very well suited and associating each asset to other assets. This helps IT get a visual picture of the topology of the company.

Manual updates however, are less suited. I heard that a computer manufacturer used Remedy to help track each component that is used in their computer manufacturing process. However, without an iron tight process, the chance of failure would be high and this would be a highly manual process.
