  • Combined with BMC Discovery, the CMDB has enabled us to have very useful metrics on affected server assets. Especially those affected by incidents, which allows us to troubleshoot potential reoccurring problems before they get started.
  • The ability to pull up a users information and know where they sit, what hardware and software they are using, as well as the ability to easily process tickets against it will significantly decrease our response times for service outages.

  • Moving towards a fully chargeback model would help non-IT departments help curb their spend. However, a company needs to be fully mature in order to do this. Without an iron tight process, the CMDB will be quickly filled with garbage. It'll require experienced asset admins to continuously monitor the system.
