BP Logix Process Director
2 years of experience

We continually work towards process automation and BP Logix Process Director gets in right every time. It helps to have an incredibly talented in-house forms developer and services provided by BP Logix support. We've developed nearly 50 forms and associated workflows in the past couple of years. The list of form development requests seems to grow each week. We've developed forms from travel and expense reimbursement to purchasing card reconciliation and submission. Forms are being developed by IT personnel for the whole organization.

Historically, we had a wall full of static, pre-printed forms that are hard to account for once the manual process gets started as an employee begins to complete the form and follows it by gathering various signatures and other documentation. Once a form is created. Process Director allows the electronic form to follow a designed workflow that connects information to the right people/organizations. Connectivity and integration with Active Directory and an email system further connect the dots with notifications to those "next up" in the workflow. Process Director also integrates well with databases to push and pull, read and write information to populate forms.

We love Process Director! Never going back to pre-printed forms!

  • Develop forms using Microsoft Word and Process Director plug-ins - start small then use predefined Custom Tasks, Knowledge Views, and samples to create extremely impressive results.
  • Integration with Microsoft Active Directory, SQL Server databases and tables, Excel, etc. - Incredibly powerful! We've taken eforms to a new level by integrating SQL queries into controls and custom tasks and embedding the results into developed forms.
  • Some of the forms can get pretty complicated with controls and custom tasks. If we can't find the answer to desired activities we'd like to incorporate, BP Logix support is just a phone call or email away. Their support is awesome and very responsive.
Cons
  • Sometimes the documentation is hard to follow to incorporate new features and functionality into workflows and forms. Some of these options can get very complex. As such, BP Logix support personnel in good to work with and helps you learn so you don't have to call again.
It simply works great for our applications and requirements!

  • Process Director has had such a positive impact on our entire organization. Nearly every division and department throughout the whole organization either has working forms and workflows or has requested to have forms and workflows developed.
  • The only negative or adverse condition is that we don't have enough development time for all the workflows requested to be developed.
We initially went through an RFP process with desired and required outcomes and performance marks we were looking to achieve. At the time of evaluation, Process Director was really the only product we considered.

We use Process Director for various forms, internal and external, that need an automated workflow behind it.
  • The drag and drop area of a workflow makes the product easy to use and makes the process easy to visualize.
  • The ability to save submitted forms as PDFs and attaching them to an internal system.
  • Allowing custom SQL commands allow interaction with internal systems.
Cons
  • Having a record of sent emails in a process would be helpful.
  • A "scrubber" for PDF names would be helpful. Acrobat does not like to open items with particular characters in a file name.
We use BP Logix Process Director to send out self certification emails to our vendors. This used to be done manually. Since we've implemented the forms system, the process is much easier and less time consuming for our employees.

  • I can only speak of the process I am responsible for, positive notes: the automated forms frees up our employees to do other work.
  • The return rate of our self certification form has increased since we've gone electronic.

BP Logix Process Director Cloud Edition is an amazing BPM product. We have been using Process Director in the cloud since January 2012 and it has helped us become more efficient by automating our workflow processes including capital & expense approval, software development approval, asset management disposal and vendor contracts review/approval. What began as a need to provide a solution for our finance department has expanded over the last three years to include automated applications for our legal, facilities, IT and operations departments.
  • BP Logix has provided us with an opportunity to integrate our processes with our finance invoicing system, our asset management system and our SharePoint contracts libraries.
  • BPM & Workflow experts.
  • Deployed in the Cloud and integrated in the Cloud.
  • Repeatable and auditable.
Cons
  • It's hard to identify a Con as the product as always worked well for us with almost no downtime.
I've recommended the Process Director product for several scenarios to automate business functions internally. It is well suited for simple and detailed workflows including approval workflows. It has had positive reviews at my company where we've automated IT Vendor Contracts review/approval process, Capital/Expense spending and approval process and disposal of Assets. Although we don't use it for HR Onboarding, I've heard from other users that Process Director is well suited for this as well.

  • Significant increase in turnaround time of approval of PO requests and delivery to vendors.
  • Increased productivity and service to end users.
  • Fully auditable for both internal and external audits of our processes.
  • Reduced data center footprint by deploying Process Director Cloud Edition.
  • BP Logix provides excellent engineering support and customer service; they have helped us integrate Process Director in the Cloud with our invoicing system, asset managment system and SharePoint libraries.
We evaluated 13 vendors when looking for a solution for our finance department. We invited 4 vendors to demo and picked BP Logix in late 2011. Integration was very quick and since we went live January 2012 we deployed three additional processes incorporating our finance, facilities, legal, IT and our operations departments.
Yes
We have automated four processes with BP Logix Process Director. Of the four only one existed prior to BP Logix and needed to be replaced; we had a home grown system for requesting approval on large expenditures built in Lotus Notes. Because the integration was simple and fast we looked for other opportunities to expand usage of Process Director and to date we've automated three additional processes.
  • Product Features
  • Product Usability
The most important factor was the end user experience. We invited 4 vendors of the 13 reviewed to provide a demo. Only BP Logix took the time to provide a demo that looked like the home grown application we needed to replace. From the end user perspective the look and feel was exactly what they were used to and this provided immediate buy in with my customers/users.
I would do everything exactly the same. BP Logix has proved to be the perfect choice for our needs.
