There are many avenues for support with Brightspace. D2L manages a great community website that customers can collaborate in. Our institution has our own dedicated Technical Account Manager who is always available if we ever have questions or needs. The site itself runs really well, and luckily there's not a large need for us, institutionally, to contact support from D2L directly very regularly. Even if we did need to contact support, the service is always excellent.
I have had excellent support from Desire2Learn. Any ticket that I submit is acknowledged immediately and the correction is usually almost as quick. We use this for thousands of classes and it is pretty well liked by both faculty and students. We have been using it for almost 4 years now and most of our instructors have become pretty proficient with it.
They are responsive to our questions and will call me to clarify any questions they have about the help desk ticket.
This rating was given to the support team at the college for providing training and immediate response to questions related to Desire2Learn. This high caliber support is provided to both faculty and students. Also available are training videos and e-mail reminders when there are updates within the integrated learning platform.
Desire2Learn is a sales organization, not a support organization. We are self-hosted, but they still need to remote into our systems to perform certain upgrades and other support roles. They perform upgrades on their schedule (little flexibility) and we have experienced upgrades that their technical staff did not execute correctly. When we have problems and open a ticket, D2L is slow to come up with fixes or workarounds. It is a running joke within our internal technical team--we do not like opening support tickets with D2L because often we end up being told, at the end of the process, that the issue is a "known bug" and will be "fixed in the next release." Sigh.
The primary admin was the inteface for support. So I am not sure what that experience was
