What is BugHerd?

BugHerd is a bug tracking and project management platform built for web developers and designers but was designed to be suitable for users of all technical backgrounds. BugHerd aims to make its platform easy to use with an intuitive user interface and numerous how-to videos. Built-in automation collects technical information that a non-technical user may not know to include, while real-time commenting and screen recording allows reporters to provide useful context to the dev team.

On the developer side, BugHerd aims to keep project management simple as well with a kanban-style task board. Managers can quickly assign tasks to developers, as well as track progress. With unlimited projects, tasks can be divided into as many projects as a manager wants at no additional cost. Developers can access only their tasks on a custom dashboard.

BugHerd is presented as a simple visual feedback & bug tracker tool for websites.

Users point and click, like using sticky-notes to pin client feedback on a site. BugHerd works in 3 steps:

1. Pin feedback to a webpage using a browser extension.

2. Contextual metadata is automatically added to all pinned feedback.

3. Tasks cards are instantly created from feedback, helping users manage their workflow.

Overview of BugHerd Features

BugHerd automates portions of bug tracking by recording vital information, such as browser information, screen size, operating system, and location. By allowing users to comment when they are submitting this information, BugHerd allows for additional context to be included with the technical information.

BugHerd offers unlimited guests and unlimited projects. This means that companies can invite as many clients to review as much of their content as they need with no additional cost. Guests are different from members. Members are employees with access to all information on BugHerd. Guests are anonymous users that can report bugs, and get information/updates on only the bugs they reported. Each pricing tier has a limited number of members, and additional members can be added at an additional cost.

After bugs are reported by a member or guest, tasks are sent to a kanban-style board that can be used to track progress. Members can access their assigned tasks through a custom dashboard. All BugHerd data can be exported via XML, JSON, and CSV. If desired, tasks can be accessed using the BugHerd API.

Bug Tracking for Non-Technical Users

BugHerd differs from other bug tracking applications, as it was designed to be easy to use for non-technical users. While other software is easy for those with a technical background, BugHerd aims to be easy for everyone. BugHerd automatically records information that the technical team will need, such as operating system, browser, screen size, and more. User comments are pinned to the website location. Users can take screenshots or record their screens to provide more information to the technical team.

BugHerd aims to make it easier for developers to gather information about and replicate bugs by automating some of the processes and making it easier for other users to easily communicate details to the dev team.

BugHerd has become a must-have tool in our web development process. It provides value for the project managers, testers and developers, as well as the clients. Previously, we had to ask the client to take screenshots of bugs, let us know what browser they were using and any specifics to their screen size and device. That is painful for our clients and not something that all of them could easily find out for us. In addition, it added a lot of unnecessary development time trying to track down that information. BugHerd is the solution that makes all of this process automated and gives us a support-ticket-like system to mage bugs and communicated with the client in a much more seamless way.
  • Track web development bugs and issues
  • Capture screenshots, browser details, device details, screen size details and user comments.
  • Manage the list of bugs, assign them to a developer and give them due date and priority.
  • It would be nice if it offered more integrations.
  • Workflow could be a little more sophisticated.
BugHerd is perfect for a small to a mid-size digital agency and/or internal digital team. It may not have the robust feature set and workflow tools that larger enterprises require, but it is a powerful tool that can handle a wide range of web development situations and can be leveraged by a wide range of agencies and development shops.
  • BugHerd has reduced our testing and bug-fixing time by up to 25% per project.
  • BugHerd has increased client satisfaction by making it painless to provide us feedback and report bugs during the final phase of the website project.
  • BugHerd has also decreased the time that our project managers have to spend tracking bugs and reporting to the development team.
BugHerd is an easy-to-use, highly intuitive tool that fits seamlessly into our web development process. It is easy for all users to use, web developers, project managers, testers and clients. Clients are able to easily pin bugs and provide explanatory feedback that allows our team to fix what is broken and incorporate client feedback.
Truthfully, we have had very little need for BugHerd support, as the tool is intuitive and does not have many bugs of its own. They have a pretty solid help/FAQ section and their support people have been reasonably responsive the few times we have needed to contact customer support. We have had our issues resolved and questions answered.
BugHerd simply added more value overall than Usersnap. We felt like BugHerd was the kind of solution we would have built if we set out to build a bug tracking tool for our web development process. The cost is reasonable and it adds a lot of value for the investment. We just didn't feel like the others were as solid and offered the value of BugHerd.
