Users at my company rely on Zix Information Archiving, known as ZixArchive, to securely store and manage their historical data. According to users, ZixArchive is essential for addressing various needs such as accidental deletions and breach resolution. It offers a convenient solution by allowing fast and easy restoration of data from the archiver portal, enabling users to delete full mailboxes without losing any information. In addition, ZixArchive plays a crucial role in meeting compliance requirements by journaling all organizational emails and team chats. Users appreciate the granular control they have over accessing and viewing their data. The advanced search feature of ZixArchive is highly regarded, offering a variety of complex querying methods that make it easier to locate specific information within the extensive archive of data. Ultimately, the primary motivation behind choosing ZixArchive is to prevent accidental deletion while facilitating the retrieval of deleted emails without any loss of valuable information.

We use Zix along with our Exchange subscription. Due to the large volume of emails, most of us receive on a daily basis, security and data recovery have been a concern, which is where Zix comes into the picture. We haven't had any tool that allows information retention and archiving for Microsoft Teams. It lets you manage who can see your data and when. The search feature is very advanced with lots of complex querying methods to help you find exactly what you want. Accidental deletion and retrieval of deleted emails without losing any data is our main purpose for choosing this software.
  • Recovery of deleted data.
  • Retention of information from archive portal.
  • Powerful search features.
  • The search feature is complex and difficult to understand for normal users.
  • It is a bit on the expensive side.
  • More integration of other features like threat protection, etc would be nice.
Well suited in scenarios where you have a large amount of incoming mails, worry of accidental deletion, and require retention of data from sources, especially with Microsoft Teams. You will have to get used to the complex search features to make full use of Zix capabilities though. If you have a basic usage of emails and your email client already provides these features, then Zix wouldn't be of much use for the expense it incurs.
  • Information retrieval.
  • Data security.
  • Nice addition to ease up work.
They do provide support when required, especially with integration problems within your mailboxes and Teams. Take time to respond sometimes, but overall good service.

We use ZixArchive to journal all mail for the organization, as well as all teams chats. This is for compliance purposes.
  • Compliance searches—eDiscovery.
  • Archiving messages.
  • Message retention.
  • Search language is complex.
  • Easy to miss items if not proficient in search functionality.
Easy to use and allows us to keep messages for our stated document retention period.
  • Supports our document retention polices.
  • Allows for recovery of data easily.
Zix is by far the superior solution when it comes to searching and the index.
Each time I have contacted support, I have had a resolution on the first call.

Zix Information Archiving (ZixArchive) is being used by all employees at my company to maintain a safe space for their historical data to live. This addresses several problems, such as accidental deletions and breach resolution, since restoration is fast and easy from the archiver portal. This also allows our users to delete full mailboxes without losing data.
  • Search
  • Storage need reduction
  • Security
  • Setup (would be nice to get historical data from before setup)
  • Download a copy of a message instead of just delivering from within the individual message
  • Integration of archive into other features (e.g., threat protection/tools)--the ability to get to the archiver's copy of the message would be nice
Archiving is almost exactly what I'm looking for in a solution, especially now that it's fully rolled out to our users. The one pain point is the initial setup of the archive, which is a little lacking. Some archiving solutions simply need an administrator account to thread all of the old data in the inboxes. For Zix Information Archiving (ZixArchive), I must manually export a PST and send it to Zix Support for upload. I'd like to have users' entire mailboxes automatically uploaded into the archiver without several fairly time-consuming steps.
  • Safety of data
  • Ease of recovery of data
  • Peace of mind for exiting employees
Zix Information Archiving (ZixArchive) is fairly 1:1 with these solutions except for prior data not uploading. Indexing metadata for searches is on point and the fields function as you'd expect and clearly labeled. The only gotcha I typically hit in searching is I always hit enter after typing the email address in the search field, which presents me with a new line instead of moving to the next field--it's muscle memory and I understand the reasoning--it just doesn't fit my flow, as typically I only search for one email address per field.
Everyone I spoke to understood the utility and its limitations. Any questions I had were answered on the first touch and I didn't need many (or any) follow-ups to get the answers I was looking for. Implementation was also very fast and my implementation specialist did most of the work with me so I understood what was happening without potentially breaking anything.
