Migration from Gomez monitoring tool 1. low level design and high level design 2. documentation of all the tests in Gomez monitoring tool 3. creating a parallel catchpoint environment and migrated all the tests to catchpoint 4. decommissioned gomez monitoring tool
Change management was a big part of the implementation and was well-handled
Didn't experience any major issues. the implementation of catchpoint was very smooth

very easy to implement as the product is user-friendly
yes, we require 24/7 support
No
Post code update on one of our mission-critical applications, a few tests which monitors the application performance started reporting issues. upon investigating with the help of catchpoint support, we figured out that the code update changed certain pages and the test needs to be rewritten. I was very extremely impressed with the service i got the tech support team of Catchpoint in identifying this issue and helping us re-scripting the tests and closing the issue.

Testing the user experience. Tests web portals from the users point of view. Gets the results and shows them to us. Also, use to test the presence of critical services (api's) and their availability remotely. If the services and hosts are not available to perform the actions per the angular specifications, we have a non-tangible user experience that will surely impact the business users and their ability to perform their tasks.
  • Details the system response times
  • Details to a degree the possible steps for improvement regards functions
  • Assists developers with vital information on step execution
  • Makes it easy to view at a glance multiple sites and their overall status
  • Script recording could be more stable. Should be as smooth as chrome developer recording.
  • Needs a way to modularize the code so we don't have to repair in broad sections when it breaks because of some unplanned code change on our end.
  • How about a tutorial on selenium as relates to Catchpoint.
  • Some of the functions could have better descriptions.
Experience testing. We have many many many forms that require the user step thru certain sequences to get to specific places to enter in the information. Once achieved, the user must use that information to perform other actions that must be frequently tested for response time and information accuracy. Once the first several forms are completed, they will in turn effect the outcome of the other actions. CP allows us to test each step of the experience and allows us to focus on specific actions and results. CP is not well suited to test environments that are ever changing as it is not as modularized as it can be. In environments that constantly change, it is difficult to keep CP up to date.
  • Fewer command bridges in some cases
  • Increased revenue for the customer since we know when the sites are having issues
  • Time saved from knowing which systems are underperforming and when so scheduling more resources to be used.
I have not worked much with CP support this year, but when i did in yrs prior, they were always knowledgeable.
Catchpoint has a learning curve. But once I got the proper tests to work, the results were almost immediate. Could quickly see site performance from various points of view.

Great and convenient to use.
Catchpoint has a learning curve as it is not easy to save into separate modules for ease of correction. Not truly good for environments that change constantly or are unstable.
  • Interface is easy
  • Summary displays are really good
  • Easy to locate anything by using search
  • no modularized way to use
  • Catchpoint recorder does not always playback properly
  • Difficult to troubleshoot when fails
Yes
Worked just as the standard browser interface. Very convenient.

The QA team uses Catchpoint to monitor our company's site. We have jobs running all the time, but we also run the tests on Catchpoint before and after every release and every deploy. It helps us check for the sanity of our site and systems in a quick and effective way.
  • It's a powerful tool.
  • It has many useful functionalities.
  • It has support for different kinds of tests.
  • It has an excellent support team.
  • They could provide better technical training material.
  • The interface is not user-friendly.
It's an excellent tool for monitoring results and looking for failures, errors, or abnormal behavior in your applications; also, you can configure alerts to be sent to the appropriate person in case of failures. It can be used to run a smoke test so you can save some time. It's not the appropriate tool to run regression testing.
  • It's very helpful to run tests after a deployment or release, so we can quickly see at the results before investing time on testing manually or running other tools.
  • It provides alerts, so we can be aware of errors even during the weekends (when our engineering team is not usually looking at the application).
It's hard to find the functionalities that I am looking for in the application. Even if I did something in the past, after a time I have to re-learn again where the functionalities are. This is a powerful tool, but not user-friendly. Texts in the buttons and menus are not always meaningful or easily comprehensible.
Every time that I have required help from the support team, I have had quick and clear answers. They have helped me until I'm satisfied, even if this took several days or even weeks. The support is excellent for both, simple (like finding an option or functionality), and more technical and suited to complicated questions (like fixing a script). They offer different levels of support and different ways to contact the support team through chat, email, phone and calling (where you can also share your screen if it's necessary).
We still use other tools, but with different purposes. Catchpoint is running over our production environments and provide alerts in case of failures. With HipTest we run regressions and manage test suites for both, manual and automated regressions also is integrated with JIRA, which is good because we can link the JIRA tickets/stories with the test scenarios in HipTest. Jenkins is used (for us) in the same way as Catchoint, and it is a tool that we are going to stop using in the future because maintaining scripts is easier in Catchpoint than in Jenkins.
