This is a demo video of a software concept I developed in 1996 called the TV Agent. It was an advanced user interface & "recommendation engine" for digital cable TV set-top boxes which combined a "conversational user interface" (an animated character with a test-to-speech voice), with peer-2-peer networking and a social network. 

The TV Agent would aid in navigating the growing volume of both broadcast and on-demand video by making recommendations based on not just your own viewing patterns, but those of your "peers" on the network which have similar viewing patterns. This enabled more reliable recommendations to the individual viewer. 

While initially gaining interest from several top tier venture capital firms (Hummer Winblad), development ceased in mid-2001 due to a lack of funding, and the dot com 1.0 implosion.
