Customer Service has been horrible for Dayforce and Powerpay. They have some knowledgeable staff but an equal amount that will steer your wrong. They ignore cancellation requests so they can charge you more, they ignore verbal confirmations where you request 1 month of a particular service then charge you more because you didn't send in a formal cancellation. Overall the best experience I've had with Ceridian has been mediocre but for the most part I'm happy to have moved over to ADP.

Ceridian Powerpay is currently being used by our organization for payroll processing. While we have a small team, especially during the pandemic, it is still the best payroll software I have experience with regardless of team size. Ceridian helps ensure payroll is processed quickly, accurately, and on time every time. The interface is extremely user friendly, you can customize payroll settings accordingly. Being in the hospitality industry we are able to apply tips to payroll if needed. Ceridian makes it easy to add and remove employees easily - which is extremely beneficial in an industry with high turnover rate and during this pandemic. Issuing automatic ROEs and T4s is also a huge bonus. It really helps take the stress off of the individual who processes payroll.
  • Very intuitive and user friendly interface.
  • Automatic ROEs and T4s.
  • Customizing your payroll needs whether that be tips, commission, extra deductions, dual pay rates, etc.
  • Their support is extremely helpful, although rarely needed.
  • Would be great if you could search for specific ROEs in the system rather than having to go into each individual pay period package to locate - especially when there may be 10+ ROEs.
In all honestly I don’t know a situation where Ceridian Powerpay would not be appropriate to use. I have used it at a company with 12 employees, and at a company with 100 employees. The system works great regardless of company size and the benefits significantly outweigh any (if any) negatives.

I only have experience with the system in the hospitality industry but it covered all our needs and more that I can only imagine that would apply to other industries as well.
  • Being able to customize our payroll - having customized deductions, dual pay rates, option to add tips.
  • Ease of creating ROEs & T4s.
  • Accurate reporting and ability to review previous payrolls going back years.
  • User friendly interface which allows other users to learn for “just in case” scenarios.

  • The return on investment has been substantial for our company. Having a payroll system that calculates everything for you, processes important documents, and only takes minimal time and effort allows us to focus more time on running the business and generating revenue.
  • Instead of having a user spend half a day (or potentially a full day) processing payroll, it only takes a couple hours (obviously depending on how many employees need to be processed).
Have not used any other payroll software in my experience.

We use Ceridian Powerpay for payroll administration and some minor HR activities/processes. The software is used for processing payroll for all areas of the organization on a bi-weekly basis. The main business problem it solves is providing a single solution for the administration of payroll that, due to its nature, makes the process more streamlined and simplified, eliminating many of the otherwise manual aspects of payroll. As nearly all of our workforce is salaried, the actual payroll process can be completed in less than an hour without fail.
  • Ceridian Powerpay simplifies the payroll process, very little manual work involved during each payroll run.
  • Ceridian Powerpay is mostly an intuitive interface with easy to understand workflows to allow for multiple users to be able to use the system if required.
  • Reports could be more robust. You can pull reports from Ceridian Powerpay, but they are often relatively necessary and not useful for more advanced analysis and filtering, which would have to be done manually.
  • Changes to the system cannot always be completed on your own and require intervention from Ceridian via support. While this meant as a safety feature so that it doesn’t compromise the setup of your company, more advanced users should be able to use this without intervention/support.
Ceridian Powerpay is useful for an organization with either a small or large workforce, with a reasonably simple payroll setup. Our organization does not have any complicated commission schema, so Ceridian Powerpay works excellent for standard payroll that doesn’t change too much from week to week, often with salaried employees that have predictable compensation. I would hesitate to recommend Ceridian Powerpay to an organization with more complication pay systems, especially if they are larger as Ceridian Powerpay seems better suited to standard payroll without anything outside of the norm. While not feature-rich overall, Ceridian Powerpay gets the job done, and it is easy to use, so you can rely on multiple users in the organization being trained to use the software without requiring a significant investment on your part.

  • Positive: Ceridian Powerpay is cost-effective for our organization as we do not require a more robust solution—it fits our needs well without breaking the bank.
  • Positive: Ceridian Powerpay is mostly intuitive, easy to use, and as a result, easy to train team members in. This allows for additional coverage for the payroll system should the key user not be available or require assistance.
Having used both Ceridian Powerpay and DayforceHCM, I find that Ceridian Powerpay is the better solution for the average user. DayforceHCM provides a more fully-featured solution for an organization, but utilizing those features will depend on your organizational needs. Moreover, the total cost of DayforceHCM is much higher than the Ceridian Powerpay. Unless you can justify the higher overall cost for some features that you may not take advantage of, Ceridian Powerpay will work better for your smaller business and workforce. I also appreciate the relative simplicity and intuitive nature of Ceridian Powerpay. While Ceridian Powerpay mostly does one thing, it does it well and does not need any additional features to serve as your primary solution for the administration of payroll.
Generally, Ceridian Powerpay support is strong, with the edge given to the telephone staff, which is prompt and always helpful. When I have had to reach out via telephone, I am greeted quickly and provided with a quick resolution to my issue. The email support leaves a bit to be desired, though, as my experience with change requests result in long waits for confirmation and completion, with some instances not even being given a resolution to an issue without requiring additional follow-up. I shouldn’t have to stay on top of the support in addition to providing the details needed, and it should just get done.
