Is very helpful for sites with a decent amount of content. It's less useful for our smaller publication. I also don't know if I could enable it on our app - I've never asked about that. We don't have good visibility for user journey between our multiple digital channels. Chartbeat's competitor Marfeel touts some SEO features that would be nice to have - things like keyword suggestions or keyword trends could help the newsroom develop content suited to those suggestions. I don't see our newsroom doing that however. We would be better served by doing more content optimization of what we currently write about and make use of the headline tester more. The problem is that reporters don't have time to use these tools and we only have two digital team members who would potentially use it at this time.

Best suited for people who were using GA (Google Analytics) for basic site reporting. With UA4 (universal analytics) GA is extremely difficult to use for basic site reporting. Things as simple as merely seeing which pages are doing best has become very problematic with GA, but is is extremely easy with Chartbeat. For extremely complicated analysis it may not provide as much detail, but to keep the content creators of your site aware of what is happening, Chartbeat is the way to go.

An effortless method to empower the newsroom with data-driven capabilities, requiring minimal effort for implementation and training. Chartbeat's API allows the development team to integrate real time data that powers engagement widgets throughout the site.

Chartbeat -- as advertised -- is the best in class tool to manage real-time website performance. The tool is extremely helpful to benchmark performance and to move beyond vanity metrics like clicks by also tracking engaged time.

The only downside for us is actually an upside for Chartbeat -- because the tool is so easy to use and understand our journalists prefer it over other performance tracking tools. Chartbeat has some information on performance but much more extensive information can be found in other tools. We also work more to track the accuracy of the metrics in other tools.

Headlines is the best example: If the story is being covered by most/all of our competitors, it is absolutely crucial to get the headline right. The efficient ways that Chartbeat works means that testing different headlines will pay instant dividends with Chartbeat's data indicating what is resonating (or not) with the audience.

The main point of benefit is the realtime data. This is vital to our team as we are publishing a lot of content per day, so we have a busy homepage to manage and it's important to know which content is performing well. We also like to get an understanding as quickly as possible - which Chartbeat offers - of where traffic is coming from. Often we will see an example where a page is getting high traffic from Google, for example, and we know that might not need to be placed so prominently on the homepage because the traffic is arriving to us externally anyway. Without that depth of understanding what is performing best and why - updated immediately, unlike in Google Analytics now - our homepage would not be as well optimised for users coming to us direct.

It is well suited to keeping me toward a specified goal, and gives me concrete numbers and gives me an idea of what we need to do to meet our goals. It's less appropriate if you want something more than pageviews, and doesn't really do a lot for video views.

It's useful in helping us curate the stories on the homepage. Our editors also appreciate that Chartbeat is user-friendly to non-technical people. They don't need to manipulate too many settings (just filters) to surface actionable insights. The interface is also intuitive, so onboarding new users is easy, and getting answers (to questions such as "Which stories are doing well in search?") is fast.

One particular scenario cropped up recently during coverage of a live mass football game. We ran a live blog and Chartbeat made it possible for us to see how many people were engaging with the content in real time, which made it easy for us to adapt the output to suit the size of audience, and to engineer ways to engage more people through social media.

We recommend this software to all companies that have a website and want to get the most out of it, attracting the public and building audience loyalty. A tool that will help them to improve their web content and therefore position themselves in the first places of the search engines.

I can only speak to how Chartbeat is well suited since I am unaware of all the different scenarios where it wouldn't work well. In my case, my job is to share fundraisers with news outlets in order to get the fundraiser organizer's help and support in their efforts. Chartbeat allows me to see the trending fundraisers in real-time. This is helpful because more often than not when a lot of people are looking at a fundraiser, it's usually because of a recent news event.

If you are looking for a tool that tracks traffic, content performance, author performance, and reader retention with a relatively simple interface and gleaming graphics then this is for you. Trickier things like report generation are made much more seamless now, and except for some friction in the sidebar navigation –– I find it to be a pretty flawless tool that I would recommend to friends or others in the media field. It's just a basic necessity to understand content these days, so Chartbeat is a great tool at that!

I use Chartbeat daily and instruct my team to do the same. For "hot" stories, I have my team test headlines to provide the best product to our users. We track new sites that are linking to us to see if we can deliver stories to them in an ongoing fashion.

Chartbeat is great for getting a sense of what our readers and listeners are interested in so that our content curation can be as specific as possible. It would be really helpful if I was able to see the various pages the story was posted on.

I think Chartbeat works great at signaling what stories could be followed up on or what stories would be good to send out in a push alert if they're already doing well on social media. It is also great to see what stories continue to do well to continue pursuing that type of content.

Chartbeat is useful for a general overview of how well content is doing across platforms, but it would be better to get more insight into the social media platforms - for example who is sharing content on Twitter - as well as a better search functionality for authors. The mobile app could also be improved, as it is difficult to search for a specific author.

This provides a great snapshot as to what's working at any giving moment. I've always liked how easy Chartbeat's interface is to use and makes it fairly easy to click around to find new pieces of data. I also really love the headline testing on our homepage so we can see real-time how slight changes to word can help a story take off.
