  • Positive: Circle helped us to make a fast release process of our native based application and reduced our time to market.
  • Positive: Circle helps us avoiding the time and money maintenance cost of a release process system.
  • Negative: The cost per user and billing it per month make it a bit difficult to make the payments on time if you are working in a big company with a lot of payment processes.

  • Greatly increase the speed of code delivery. We no longer need to go through a long deployment process for every feature. Developers can spin up their dev environments at will, test new features, and verify their code is ready to ship in just minutes.
  • Reduced labor. Again, no more long, manual code deployments. And this means big savings in labor costs.
  • Code quality. Since CircleCI runs various tests after building, we know if a code change broke a feature immediately. It can be fixed before the feature is even scheduled for release to production.

  • Continuous Integration saves time for developers to manually handle deploying code.
  • Ability to build complex workflows with test suites catches bugs before they get to production - saving a lot of headache.
  • The integrations with Slack and DataDog keep the entire company informed of builds and deploys, increasing our awareness and efficiency.

  • Don't have to bother rolling my own CI/CD. Saves time.
  • Saves money as I can operate on the free tier without hosting my own CI/CD environment(s).
  • Simple configuration compared to other competitors.

  • Saves us a lot of time and reduces potential mistakes by making our deployment and QA process completely automated
  • Builds docker images for us so we don't have to build them locally on our machines
  • Runs tests automatically on every commit, so we catch mistakes early

  • We pay over $5K/ month and we have high expectations for service. Sometimes I feel that we don't get the value, but only sometimes.
  • We have had to build our own application to keep state and broker releases and deployments. We call our app deployer. I feel that CircleCI could do more to understand our needs and possibly build additional features that would enable us to invest less in build and deployment infrastructure and justify paying more for Circle.

  • It has eased the burden of standardizing our testing and deployment, making onboarding new developers much faster, and having to fix deployment mistakes much less often.
  • It allows us to focus our process around the GitHub workflow, ignoring the details of whatever environment the thing we're working on is actually hosted in. This saves us time.

  • Quality - Our product quality increased dramatically as engineers started running tests on every commit instead of ad-hoc before merging code.
  • Testing Speed - Our unit test framework was taking up to 30 minutes to run 1,000+ unit and integration tests. Moving to CircleCI allowed us to cut that down to around 10 minutes by running test in parallel.
