Our current setup is HQ with two branch offices. The 800 Series router is installed at the branch offices.
  • Ease of Use
  • Has adequate security feateres
  • All around good product
  • Needs to improve performance a bit
  • Not agile enough
  • Be sure to note your requirements before purchase
I think it is best suited for a small to medium business with branch offices. Our current enviromement is best suited for the 800 Series routers. It's simple with no complexity and great features. Cisco has offered a robust unit that is extremely versatile.
  • Good return I assume
  • Can't comment on negative impact
  • This router serves its purpose
I did not compare like for like but generally Cisco has a good feel about it. Cisco offers industry know how and has a huge community that can assist with resolving problems that might occur. They are also generally good when it comes to bug fixes.
I think Cisco is a good product that offers a huge list of options where you can get support from. I find that forums, blogs and communities really assist wit resolving any issues that you might come across.
Cisco Firepower NGFW (formerly Sourcefire), Sophos Secure Email Gateways, VMware ESXi
This routers provides diverse WAN connectivity for our branch office. It is gives us enterprise type security at a low cost as well simplified management of the devices. it would recommend this product for small business with branch offices.
CCNA Routing and Switching will suffice for configuring this router. Cisco also has a vast range of blogs, forums and communities that will assis should you experience any difficulties configuring these devices. I recommend The Cisco Gateway as a source of information.

  • Price
  • Product Features
  • Product Usability
Price is always an important factor, even more so is the features you will get from the type of product you consider. If you get to a situation where these two align then the choice is obvious.
I would not change anything in my evaluation. I find after careful consideration and research that the choice you make really becomes easy. All we are really focused on is getting the best product for our environment to mitigate any future security risk.
  • Implemented in-house
No
Change management was minimal
Within our organization there isn't really a change management process. Our implementation was over a weekend and we where up and running by when business opened the Monday. No hassles and no problems since.
  • We experience no major issues
  • Perhaps a few configuration conflicts, but we figured out what we did wrong
  • Nothing else
Implementation of this router is relatively easy. What i can say is plan your implementation and consider the the environment you are going to use it for.
No
Cisco always provides exceptional support. I cannot fault them on something they do right, but i will also let future users know that they should choose the correct type of support for their environment.
  • management of this router is easy
  • setting up this router is simple
  • if is configured properly it will drive itself.
  • i haven't come across anything cumbersome
  • i haven't come across anything difficult
  • This router works for its purpose
Yes, but I don't use it
This router is easy to use and manage. It provides the features, most important the security our organization requires to function properly. There is also cohesion between the HQ router we are currently using.
