Cisco Aironet 1500 Series Access Points (discontinued)
10 years of experience
The 1570 are used mainly to provide outdoor coverage around the campus area where people usually walk or sit. They cover almost 90% of the research building outdoor areas and some of the facilities (restaurants, gyms, recreational clubs).
  • Outdoor coverage.
  • Work-group Bridge.
  • Point to point.
Due to its software, it can fit in any outdoor deployment or requirement. It has POE Out port, Various Antenna selection, various powering option, GPS, Industrial rigid design (coming from a very hot and humid area), SFP compatible. You can deploy this AP nearly on any use case you face, I have a successful deployment of 400m distance between two of them as a MESH and it has been running fine for the past 2 years on the beach, it's also providing wired connection to clients on the MESH side. Some other use case is a WGB connected to a AirQuality sensor that has been up since day 1, with no problems whatsoever.
  • High price.
  • Industrial design.
  • Various options and accessories.
  • Low maintenance.
The 1570 is the beast among Cisco Models, it comes in my opinion in 1 degree less than the IW3700. I have 1550 AP's installed for 9 years and not working now, when I compare both models under the sun and humidity the 1570 running for the past 4 years looks like new.
The 1560 has fewer features and sort of plastic casing which is much cheaper, and does not do 1/4 of what 1570 does.

Wireless Design.
Industrial Equipment.
Antennas.
  • Extend Wired Network over wireless links.
  • Sensor connectivity.
There is no other better option than this. It's the line between the commercial Cisco grade AP's and industrial ones.
Initially I had a problem with the regulatory and channel selection, it was a bug on the AP as it was fairly new, solved by TAC on engineering release, and since then it has been performing flawlessly.
Whenever I get a new use case, I find 1570 solves it with no problem.
