TALOS for us was one of the deal makers for Cisco. We liked it and that made us choose Cisco over others. Moreover, Cisco support is above all vendors in the market. We have all Cisco in our infrastructure so integration and support were very critical for us and that was the deciding factor.

I would say both Cisco's ecosystem and the integration of Firepower 1000 to our existing routers and switches greatly influenced the decision to lean on Firepower. It is just so much easier to integrate all of them together, compared to using a mixture of brands, especially if you have a very lean network and security team in-house.

I faced a lot of issues with pfSense. The configuration was very difficult through the dashboard and there were a lot of bugs. Cisco Firepower 1000 Series provides all the security features. I am very happy with this series and its features.

We were using FortiGate in our environment before but when it comes to availability & scalability we found it that not much effective. After the implementation of Cisco Firepower 1000 Series it has resolved both availability & Reliability issues. It also provides us high-security features such as malware protection & content filtering.

Cisco Firepower 1000 Series is a challenger; it still needs improvement to become a leader like Checkpoint or Palo Alto. I installed Palo Alto firewalls, Checkopoint firewalls, and FortiGate, which are much more efficient for now than Cisco Firepower 1000 Series. I also had to work on legacy firewalls like Cisco ASA and SonicWall.

Firepower is an improvement of cisco ASA and stills better than meraki but some ASA functions like any-connect are still to improve

These new Firepower's vs the older ASA are like night and day. The new interface, the additional features for security which were not available in the older ASAs to us. Everything about these new devices is making our job better (won't say easier because IT at this level always has challenges). We are very pleased with these devices.

[We've used] checkpoint 2200 and 3200 models. Based on the compromises we had to make by not applying the "Optimised" IPS profile and High CPU problems, I would suggest Firepower 1000 but Meraki MX series can take away the spot light from Firepower 1000.

The Cisco Firepower 1000 Series is the next step forward from specifically the Cisco ASA 5505/5506 products. We have found that it functions as we expect it to and we have another reliable product in our portfolio of Cisco hardware that we use in our environment. We have found no issues in the Cisco Firepower 1000 Series.

Cisco is preferable because, Fortinet FortiGate does not have the lowest cost in terms of initial purchase or maintenance. Some companies bundle their hardware, license, and support better. Cisco has a more modular approach that allows for choice but also complicates the buying process.

No issues from a technical standpoint - Firepowers are secure, reliable and do what they say on the tin. Central management and configuration is easy and they fit in well with our existing Cisco infrastructure. These are not the cheapest available option for firewalls and we had to fight a bit with the accounting and finance teams to justify the initial cost outlay.

I have had experience with many firewalls and firewall management solutions. Many companies choose to opt for the Cisco Firepower 1000 Series because the threat intelligence from Cisco and the ease of administration for intrusion prevention is very competitive. As far as comparison, it is mainly a choice of the business with a combination of financial and technical factors--what is most affordable and what is most supportable or preferred by the security team.

The Cisco Firepower 1140 hit the sweet spot between performance and price. Also, I am more familiar with Cisco products so I wanted to stay on that side. We looked at the Firepower 2110, but thought the 1140 was a better fit for our needs.

In terms of cost-effectiveness, Cisco gives the same or better service at a lower cost compared to Palo Alto devices. There are other products in the market with similar protection services and even lower cost but customer service is not as good as Cisco. So, it is a combined service that makes Cisco number 1.

Not at the host level, but at network-level, Firepower is a great product for small scale businesses and the logging capability is excellent. The resource's accessibility for understanding the event type and support is well. Firepower is not a competitor for FortiGate. Firepower 1010 is cost-effective and suited for load balancing in an excellent way.

Cisco is up there, not the lowest cost in terms of initial purchase or maintenance. Also not quite the best in terms of reputation yet but getting better. Some companies bundle their hardware, license, and support better. Cisco has a more modular approach that allows for choice but also complicates the buying process.

FortiGate NGFW, is also an excellent product with good processing power and traffic handling. But our client was previously familiar with Cisco Firepower, and we had resources to support it well. The trust and support facility of Cisco helped our client to choose Firepower over all the similar security products.

I have not evaluated similar products with FPR1010 but I have selected it since I am a current Cisco user. As a software sales engineer, it is my firewall of choice that is suggested for customers.
