We use Cisco Intersight Infrastructure Service for our server infrastructure. It works very well to manage day-to-day operations. I think this is an improvement over the older UCS manager that we used to use. We've been very happy overall with it. We also enjoy that it can do predictive hardware failures and will open TAC cases automatically.
  • Ease of use
  • Management
  • Interface design
  • Reports
  • Proactive TAC cases
  • The cost can be more than you like
  • Finding the functions
Being able to keep an eye on our data center from anywhere is very nice. The modern GUI is easy to use and understand. I don't mind working within the Cisco Intersight Infrastructure Service and find it easier than some other server manufacturers. If you have stand-alone UCS C servers or UCS blade servers you can have both within Cisco Intersight Infrastructure Service. Older models work with it as well.

Cisco Intersight Infrastructure Service is a great tool for optimizing infrastructure and integrating it into one dashboard. Natural integration with Cisco data center products but also great if you have third-party vendors like storage - we use it with Hitachi Vantara, pure storage, and Netapp.

  • Visibility
  • More integrations with other vendors

We use Cisco Intersight for visibility into our computing infrastructure. This has allowed us to save time with the proactive TAC cases for predictive hardware failures as well as give insight into the age, compatibility, and contract status of individual systems.
  • Health
  • Security Visibility
  • Proactive Support
  • System OS Recognition
  • Firmware Bundle Compatibility/Bug Checks
  • More robust support for contract management
In my opinion, it is not a full management tool and lacks the full functionality of UCS Central. However, Cisco Intersight is evolving quickly and it's still to be determined what exactly it is trying to achieve and replace. It complements UCS Central well and has some added benefits, but is still not a necessary investment for us yet, just a complimentary one at the moment.

I manage all my infrastructure (Cisco UCS, Pure Storage, VMware) from Intersight. I make use of workflows to orchestrate all my infrastructure. It also simplifies the firmware upgrade of Cisco UCS. It also makes load balancing of resources simple and efficient with workload optimizer. It keeps expanding support for devices as well as vendors and even cloud environments.
  • Orchestration.
  • Optimization recommendations.
  • Centralized management.
  • Vulnerability advisories.
  • Simplifies Cisco UCS firmware upgrades.
  • Can install Cisco hyper flex solution.
  • Support other virtualization software like Proxmox and Xen, newer versions of them.
  • It needs to test more the new features before releasing them.
If you have Cisco UCS then Intersight is a must. If you also have a supported storage and supported virtualization platform you are going to make the most use of the features it offers. It really simplifies management, and configuration via orchestration. It also keeps you informed of security vulnerabilities regarding your infrastructure.

We user Cisco Intersight to manage multiple Cisco Hyperflex Edge deployments as well as (2) pair of 6454 Fabric Interconnects w/Chassis and XBlade Servers.
  • Policy Management
  • Health Check Status
  • Deployment Process
  • UI Can be a bit clunky at times
  • Make Licensing easier.
Intersight works well for us in the sense that our Hyperflex deployments are easy to manage and maintain. Time will tell how well it works for managing our datacenters with the 6400 series FIs and doing away with on-premise UCSM.

Cisco Intersight helps us to easily configure and manage our three UCS-X systems that are housed in different locations. We are able to leverage Intersight to get better visibility not only into our compute platforms but allows us to see our storage and networking in a single platform.
  • Ease of implementation of our UCS-X Platforms
  • Ease of Management
  • Cross visibility to our Data Center Infrastructure (Network, Storage, Compute)
  • Ability to Automate our configurations
  • Ability to create profiles for better consistency and standardization
  • When transitioning from traditional compute have to learn some new terminology
With the ability to easily configure and manage multiple UCS-X platforms across different locations.
Where you want the ability to leverage profiles and automation to assist with creating a consistent and standard platform across all of your environments.
Where you are wanting the ability to be able to see not only your compute, but GPU, Network, and Storage for your data center in a single platform.
Where you are looking at optimizing your workload across your on-premise environment and cloud environments.

My team uses Intersight to manage UCS hardware as well as monitor VMware infrastructure. We were looking for a single pane of glass that would aggregate multiple UCS domains into a single interface (similar to UCS Central). It substantially cut down the time engineers have to search for gear and figure out where it is located.
  • Single pane of glass management
  • Tons of information at your finger tips
  • Tight integration with VMware vCenter
  • Interface is quite slow
  • Interface tree (navigating between server, profile, blade, chassis, FI, etc) is counterintuitive and needs more links in the tree
  • Deploying minor changes takes much longer than in UCSM or UCSC
Small teams managing large amounts of infrastructure will love the single pane of glass and almost installation-free setup. UCS Central is a bear and to get that functionality out of the box is a big win. Small teams will appreciate the ease of use.

We use it as a tool to help customers with their management and operations of Cisco servers. With Cisco Intersight we don't need to have a VPN to the customer to be able to help with the management of operations of the servers. We also use it to deploy IKS (kubernetes) clusters at customers private cloud and in our lab
  • TAC cases
  • Remote management
  • Life cycle management
  • HCL
  • Installation and upgrades for Cisco Hyperflex
  • Kubernetes
  • IWE, beeds to be able to handle not just IKS virtual machines
For me as a consultant with many customers running Cisco Servers in their DC, Cisco Intersight helps me and the customer to install/maintain and troubleshoot these servers without me being on-site or via VPN. The connected TAC functionality is the best part of Cisco Intersight today. You can directly from Intersight create a TAC case and the upload of the tech support files is done automatically so we don't have to do this manually. This is not only for Cisco Servers anymore—I learned this last week—but you can use it for Cisco ACI, and the upload of the tech support files if/when you are creating TAC cases. This requires Cisco ACI version 4.2

Cisco Intersight is currently being used by our organization for hardware monitoring and management. We currently monitor all of our physical servers using Cisco Intersight. We were using Cisco's IMC Supervisor solution and have migrated to Intersight. We also use Cisco Intersight to upgrade the firmware and software on our physical host. Cisco Intersight HCL allows us to easily confirm that our server hardware is running the correct version of firmware and drivers.

  • Firmware Upgrades
  • Hardware Monitoring
  • System policies
  • Hardware Compatibility Checks
  • System profiles
  • User Notifications
  • Automatic TAC case creation is hit or miss
  • Quicker refresh rates when applying changes
  • Needs ability to easily add widgets to the dashboard
  • Some of the functions and features are hard to find
  • Cisco licensing is somewhat confusing
Cisco Intersight is very well suited for doing firmware upgrades across all of your cisco hardware. So far we have had no problems pushing out new firmware. It's also well suited for hardware management. Cisco TAC has the ability to pull logs for the IMC for themselves, which saves you from having to pull the logs yourself and then uploading them to the case. It may or may not be appropriate for upgrading operating systems. I have not been able to test it.

Intersight allows me to easily have a global view of all my Cisco ucs servers (serial numbers, support contracts, status, error details etc...), which are present on multiple datacenters. My use of the solution is fairly basic, but even then it's a huge help to manage my datacenters. Intersight allows me also to have cases opened at the moment of a hardware failure (which is a big win) <br>
  • Support
  • Inventory
  • Licencing management
  • Lower price
We often have memory sticks that stop working because we have many servers with over 2TB or RAM and thanks to intersight each time there is a memory failure, the replacement stick is on its way far before the case starts to be investigated on our side, this is especially useful when a failure happens at night

I have used Intersight to deploy/install/configure Cisco UCS, UCS chassis, stand-alone servers and HyperFlex
  • Details on which step it is currently at during a HyperFlex installation
  • Showing errors and error details
  • It is very difficult to troubleshoot issues within Intersight without involving Cisco support
  • No access to Fabric Interconnect to test connectivity or configurations
  • Cannot change IP address of Fabric Interconnects without un-claiming them and unconfiguring them back to UCS mode.
Cisco Intersight is very good for beginner users who are not going to make any changes to HyperFlex or Cisco UCS. If you are an experienced user, Intersight is only for after the configuration is complete and you can hand it off to less experienced people.

It is nice to have 1 management console for multiple servers, server chassis, and devices. I feel the price is a little high and the different levels of licensing can be confusing. It is nice you can see vulnerabilities in firmware on certain license levels, advantage and up, I believe.
  • Vulnerability Notification
  • 1 pane of glass for management
  • compatible with lots of Cisco products
  • Confusing Licensing
  • High price for some licensing levels
  • Not all products integrated/supported yet
It is very good if you have lots of Cisco Servers and lots of Cisco blade chasis. It is not so good for just 1 blade chasis or just a few servers.

We use Intersight Connectivity for the Cisco ACI Fabric to automatically generate TechSupport files for the device Serial Number and link it to the Service Request that was opened for the device. Also, it is possible to generate and pre-upload TechSupports to Intersight using the TAC Assist feature. This simplifies the collection of information and greatly reduces the time that is needed for Cisco TechSupport to analyze the logs.
  • Simple installation and configuration.
  • Automated tasks.
  • Proactive Service Request creation based on faults.
  • Licensing could be simpler.
It is a great tool to simplify log collection through the Cisco Connected TAC center. Proactive RMA is also a nice feature that can greatly reduce the time that is needed to finish the RMA process. Cisco Security Advisories, Field Notices, EoL Advisories Acknowledged advisories, and field notices are also available for all devices connected to Intersight.

I used Cisco Intersight in my research environment to manage firmware and easily deploy code from the cloud. It's a great tool to manage many things in one package, and Stony Brook benefitted from it greatly. In the past, many up-to-date versions of firmware would sit on computers, and nobody would know where or who had it. It's also great to know that Ciscos SaaS products are always secure.
  • SaaS cloud code management and deployment.
  • It is secure.
  • Driven by APIs.
  • I liked everything.
IT, research, inventory. It could be well suited almost anywhere except home, but the support is really good, so it's easy to make it work anywhere. The VMs are particularly helpful in my field of research, and many tedious or mundane tasks are made super easy on this platform. It does what it aims to do well and more!

In our case Cisco Intersight was integrated with Cisco UCS manager solution, we can monitor and manage server remotely which is crucial for our operation. We have end customer services running on our organization and that critical data center operations need to be up the most time of the year. We get notifications of use for our servers, an advantage only possible through Cisco Intersight.
  • Remote infrastructure monitoring.
  • Health servers notifications.
  • Automation tasks.
  • A better documentation of use.
  • More scenarios of examples.
  • Integration with third-party servers.
It is well suited for environments where applications are crucial to be up the most time possible. If you are running web services app and you want to monitor resources and automate tasks like assign CPU and RAM to specific VM this is for you. I think scenarios where it is less appropriate should be scenarios where you have standalone severs and these are saturated with VM that if you decrease the RAM or CPU to add it to another one would cause a disaster, but the advantage is the remote monitoring from everywhere.

Cisco Intersight is used to provide visibility into our Cisco UCS footprint which spans across numerous data centers across the globe. Intersight allows us to have a single pane of glass to monitor our UCS environment and provide administrators with a global view of our environment. Intersight also allows for the automated opening of TAC cases to simplify support and parts replacement.
  • Snapshot of current support contract status
  • Automated opening of support tickets with Cisco TAC
  • Detailed inventory information (if appropriate licensing is purchased)
  • Cost of advanced license features can limit feasability
  • Limited support for different types of hardware (limited devices are supported)
  • Limited monitoring functionality compared to traditional SNMP polling based applications
Businesses with a homogeneous environment of Cisco devices can quickly enable cloud-based monitoring. Smaller footprints may find Cisco Intersight to be cost competitive compared to other enterprise class solutions. The cost to monitor large environments can be free (basic licenses) or if advanced features are required; other solutions may provide more value for the cost.

Cisco Intersight is the first Web tool that I open in the morning. My team and I are using it to take a look at all of our Cisco HyperFlex Clusters and all of our Cisco UCS Standalone Servers to see if there is any new problem or any problem left that we can address today. We are the only department using it, cause we are the IT department.
  • One single pane of glass for all the servers
  • You are able to configure the views, so it matches your needs
  • All HyperFlex Cluster, all UCS Managers and all UCS servers through one tool
  • The on-prem version needs quicker updates
  • HyperFlex stretched cluster upgrade still missing
We use Cisco Intersight to take a look in the morning for errors or problems and for forecasting storage usage by example. So we use it for monitoring mostly. Cisco Intersight is able to deploy Hyperflex Clusters or configure UCS managers and servers, but we do not use this by now.

Used to manage all of our Cisco equipment, mostly to keep all the equipment up to date in terms of firmware releases and updates and also to monitor and prevent possible failures.
  • Collect information form your Cisco equipment.
  • Monitor Cisco equipment.
  • Ability to add 3rd party hardware to it (specially networking devices).
  • Better monitoring alarm systems.
  • Easier rollout.
If you use Cisco equipment (networking and computing) it's a no-brainer as it helps you keep all your equipment in line and up to date and best of all the free tier is already pretty good!

Our IT department uses Cisco Intersight to manage and monitor multiple Cisco UCS installations across multiple data centers. It allows us to quickly see the health and configuration status of our computer infrastructure in one place.
  • Accessible from anywhere online.
  • Cisco is always adding new functionality.
  • Easy to learn and use on a daily basis.
  • Requires internet connectivity, which may not be an option for some IT environments.
Intersight is constantly evolving over the past few years, and Cisco continues to make the platform more useful. The only caveat is that Intersight requires connectivity to the internet, either directly or via a proxy appliance. If your organization's security posture does not allow connectivity, there is no locally deployable alternative option.

Cisco Intersight enables web-based management of Cisco UCS & Hyperflex clusters regardless of physical location. It will also enable you to depoly upgrades and even complete configurations via this web interface, remote deployment could become plug and play. Another great feature is the checking against supported firmware and driver baselines and the growth forecasting available in the product.
  • Web based but secure via MFA
  • Base checks for security and software issues
  • Remote diagnostics for Cisco Support
  • Basic access is free.
  • Workload optimization available in higher tiers.
  • Mobile app has some minor display issues.
  • Most exciting features are still being rolled out.
If you have a UCS/Hyperflex environment connect it to Cisco Intersight and you can judge for yourself if it's adding value for you.
