Cisco Firepower firewalls have all the features expected of an NGFW. Managed with a Cisco Secure Firewall Management Center, most of the learning curve is just knowing where in the menus to go to do what you want. All brands of firewalls work as expected, and learning each GUI is the trick. The GUI for Cisco Secure Firewall Management Center is simple. Though when devices are registered to Cisco Secure Firewall Management Center, there are no options to make changes locally and sync them back to the management center. That does limit accessing a remote site that might go down.

pfsence is a very complicated firewall and there is lots of documentation available on Cisco website for help. The configuration is very difficult and less documentation available. Cisco Secure Firewall provides us all the security features in low cost and this is very easy to configure firewall.

Cisco ASA is a good product but some features are missing. Cisco Secure [Firewall] gives you all the advanced features to deep scan and advanced level protection for your organization. Sandbox, malware protection, anti-spam are very advanced and prevent any type of cyber attack on your organization.

  • Cisco ASA
My organization was using the Cisco ASA, but some security was missing so we installed the Cisco Secure Firewall. We never faced any issue [or] big downtime during installation. This is very easy to configure and manage [the] firewall and [it] provides all the advanced features for advanced security.

We were using the Cisco ASA but some features were missing [so] we upgraded [to] Cisco [Secure Firewall]. It provides us layer 7 security and more control and visibility on layers 3 and 4. In Cisco Secure Firewall, we can [easily] check the logs and configure the policy through GUI as well as CLI. URL filtering and advanced malware protection are [some] of my favorite features in [Cisco Secure Firewall] which are [very] advanced and stop any attack on organizations.

  • Cisco ASA
We were using the Cisco ASA, but lots of features and security points were missing so we upgraded our firewall. Now we have all the advanced level security features. We are using the advanced malware protection and sandbox for deep level packet scan and [are] also using the URL filtering [for] more security and for watching the user's traffic.

Cisco Firepower is a costlier solution but you get what you pay for, with the added costs Cisco provides a full feature solution to be configured in any scenario. The setup can be complex but sometimes this is needed for challenging setups. This is the full featured standard for enterprise security solutions.

Snort is an excellent tool for signature-based intrusion detection. Cisco Firepower NGFW (formerly Sourcefire) uses Snort under the hood. This makes it a potent detection tool with almost no false positives. When it comes to Comparison, it is at par with Palo Alto Panorama in terms of the only detection.
However, Panorama beats Cisco Firepower NGFW (formerly Sourcefire) because it provides a whole lot of features and is much faster at all scales of usage at a lower price.

Cisco Firepower NGFW is much more user friendly than its competitors and their customer service is top notch. It was a no brainer in choosing a company that has the backing to help provide a great product and service to its customers. Cisco Firepower NGFW is easy to use, easy to support and most importantly gets the job done.
