  • It has the typical firewall functions you'd expect in an all in one unit.
  • GUI interface is easier to use by less technical users.
  • The extra features such as VLANs are nice to have.
  • Wireless is slower than a dedicated wireless module.
  • Some of the lower-end Cisco RV models can't handle high traffic load.
  • GUI interface is really slow sometimes.

  • The built-in VPN capability is the lowest cost way to get a real Cisco business class VPN
  • Wireless isn't the absolute fastest but is very reliable
  • The form factor is nice and compact and doesn't require a rack
  • Power usage is quite good
  • More switchports would be welcome, although this would increase cost and size
  • Faster wireless would improve performance
  • An SPF port would allow uplinking to more business-class switches

  • Manage multiple connections
  • Great management tools
  • Awesome security
  • Price.
  • Complex licensing. One could invest as much time learning their licensing schemes as you would studying for a CCIE.
  • Most GUI software is written in Java and can do a lot of dumb things--specifically the ADSM software used to configure ASA's.
