The ease of deploying the Cisco UCS Series systems brings great satisfaction. Service updates that can sometimes take days on other systems are easy and efficient with Cisco UCS Series.

Initial setup and configuration is time-consuming to get all the parameters set up. Admins who aren't familiar with the GUI, we have a hard time getting everything configured the first time. But once the initial configuration is done. It's very easy to deploy new servers or move them between chassis.

We were very satisfied. We have used C220s, and B200s for years. This year we went to the X-series. There were many hiccups with our transition to Intersight which was needed since we went to the x-series, but we got a lot of help from Cisco, and Intersight has been maturing rapidly. That is a true indication of how well we liked the solution.

Yes, it was easy to configure and manage. Also, with Cisco's help we were able to change FCOE connection to iSCSI in order to simplify the networking side of the connection. Also, being able to deploy new servers and using OVA files for new deployments is easy and simple to do.

The template approach at first appeared cumbersome and complicated. Cisco has significantly enhanced the procedure for launching new servers throughout the years. The initial template configuration of fiber addresses, VLANs, and uplinks is the only challenging part. When dependable layouts are in place, introducing new virtual local area networks (VLANs) & servers is a simple. This is how it seems to us, anyhow. Getting some sort of education or lab experience initially is essential.

The first setup was difficult to understand, but controlling them afterward was not too difficult. The documentation, training, and migration help that Cisco offers are great, making it possible for anybody to easily handle these devices.

Yes, we are satisfied since the implementation of these servers has always been very simple, as well as the administration and even the firmware updates. When a problem has arisen, we always have the support of the Cisco TAC, even if a component of the server has been damaged, they replace it very quickly. Of course, having the corresponding contract.

At first, the template method seemed clunky and difficult. Through the years Cisco has really improved the process for rolling out new servers. It is just that first template setup with fiber addresses and VLANs, and uplinks that [are] a bit of a headache. Once solid templates are in, rolling out new VLANs and servers is a breeze. At least we find it that way. We would highly recommend training and lab work to understand it first.

The beauty of the Cisco UCS Manager is that all the configurations can be driven from a common global template and customization can be done on the specific service profile thus by calling the policies from the various policy template. Whether it's an ISCSI or SAN requirement, the configuration is very user-friendly. All the VLAN's for Vmware virtualization can be defined in the Cisco UCS Manager and then it can be seamlessly configured in the ESXi.
