What is Cisco Umbrella?

Cisco Umbrella, a key component of Cisco's secure access service edge (SASE) architecture, integrates multiple security services in a single, centrally managed, cloud-native solution to secure access to the internet and control cloud app usage. By unifying secure web gateway, firewall, DNS-layer security, threat intelligence, and cloud access security broker (CASB) solutions, Cisco Umbrella helps reduce the resources required for deployment, configuration, and integration. It is a pretty good product. It does what it is supposed to without letting users bypass it. I wouould look into other solutions like firewalls to block the use of VPN to get around Cisco Umbrella. There are other products out there that do the same thing with more or less features, but Cisco is a name you can always count on.

Cisco Umbrella has been a great and useful cloud security access control list system to have in place in our organization. The protection, data analytics, and security that Cisco Umbrella offers is great all around. With their system in place we were able to block any threats or malicious websites that would affect the use of our organization.

First off I never give anything a "10" unless it's perfect. LOL - I grade on the curve. I think OpenDNS/Umbrella is a very good product. I think that fact that Cisco absorbed them is one of the proofs of that. I have used the product back when it was free for companies our size. I have not always appreciated the cost - but in the post pandemic cyber chaos, I believe the cost benefit ratio is still very high. I have honestly not looked at other products because Umbrella continues to work to my satisfaction. I consider Umbrella to be one of the key layers in my cyber security strategy.

Umbrella is an active part of our protection strategy. There is no single tool that can protect users from all the threats available on the internet. Also, threats are becoming more sophisticated, which requires us to be even more careful. Umbrella reduces the overhead on the other tools we use pre-filtering what users can access mainly through their web browsers.

We have had an excellent experience with Cisco products generally and Umbrella specifically. From implementation to continuity we have nothing to take issue or complain about with this product. Would highly recommend this product as we 100% intend to renew from our end.

Cisco Umbrella has been useful for our organization so far.
We have had some instances where it blocks certain websites that are not supposed to be blocked or instances where a website is mis-classified, but other than that it is a great and useful product Cisco offers. Cisco Support is also great and really responsive.
