Clockify Review After a Year of Daily Use

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We work as virtual assistants and we use Clockify mainly for time and productivity tracking. I would say that the strongest suit of this tool is its affordability and the freedom that it provides when it comes to customizing what it tracks in your system. If I am going to compare this with other productivity tools, I would say that Clockify would be the most beginner and start-up friendly, and I would highly recommend this to anyone or any organization who's just starting. The user interface of Clockify is fairly simple as well. It's not too crowded and not too complicated and it appears to be modern for today's standards especially the way it looks.

Pros

  • Time tracking is very simple; you just hit start and let it run in the background.
  • Time editing is one of its strongest features and it lets you edit your time entries down to the second.
  • Clockify is fairly affordable compared to other time-tracking and productivity tools.

Cons

  • In general, manuals or how to use instructional videos are always welcome - just covering the very basic are very good to get everyone up and running.
  • Maybe work on your scalability - the main reason why we switched to a different provider is because the company was ramping up and the competitors have more features that come with not just time and productivity tracking.
  • I always like the classic blue and white pallets on the app but sometimes I just wish there's more option to customize how it looks just to give it a little more flavor.

Return on Investment

  • Clockify costs around 15% less than the productivity tool that we are currently using but it does come with more features like AI companions and recommendations.
  • While using Clockify we did experience more down times compared to what we are using right now. It's not too much but around once or twice a month - i.e. the break button is missing or the timer is not responding.
  • I always appreciate the fact that Clockify is web-based and doesn't force us to install their app on my computer.

The problem is that time registration is usually seen as a boring administrative task by employees. Clockify facilitates time registration by providing many different ways for time tracking. The calendar feature in which you can copy and paste events, or the plugins available in several applications and browsers facilitate the task.

Pros

  • Link with your Outlook calendar
  • Simplification of time registration
  • Time off management
  • Expenses management

Cons

  • Project scheduling
  • Sometimes it is slow when loading data
  • The project page should include more info about person incurring the hours in a each task

Return on Investment

  • Reduction of software costs by 75%

Track your progress and workload easy

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use clockify to track my tasks and the time i am spending on each task and to track my progress at the end of the assigned task within one day or a couple of days and the most important thing that i can generate my timesheet at the end of the each week or month for submission and for my payment. Which has made my workload less and has saved my time rather writing it and later filling it and working on it.

Pros

  • Preparing my monthly timesheet
  • Tracking time of each task
  • Assigning the task for each individual
  • Tracking task and project progress
  • Continuing from where we left the task
  • Realtime time tracking

Cons

  • A person who is not working on the task can leave the timer on and record that at the end of the month in timesheet for payment.
  • Duration for some tasks can be lock and can be strict.

Return on Investment

  • Reduced wasting my time
  • Rapid timesheet submission
  • No pre recording of my each day task hours it already recorded with the task i do here.

10 Time Tracking

Clockify not a good fit? You won't get a refund.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Selected this time tracking app for use with my company due to its integration with Quickbooks. I upgraded to a yearly billing cycle to take advantage of the QBO integration and paid the $95 fee. Discovered after two hours of setup that the QBO integration would not function as expected because my accountant has payroll enabled. I cancelled the account and requested a refund. Clockify refused to refund my money despite the fact I'd only used it for two hours stating (paraphrase) "we have a strict policy against refunds as stated in our terms of service". Funny thing, I don't recall seeing the "7-day trial period button" at any time during the sign up process for the QBO upgrade... but they blamed me and kept my money. Their solution was to offer me a concession—they would give me a $100 credit for my use if I decided to use their product in the next year assuming they fixed the issue that prevented me from being able to use their app. 1. Their QBO integration doesn't work with my business 2. They refused to refund my money by hiding behind their crappy terms of service Clockify kept my money. I will never, ever use this app again.

Pros

  • They don't give refunds if their app doesn't work as advertised.
  • They blame you for not reading their terms of service.
  • They may give you a credit for a product you can't use if you complain loudly enough but they still keep your money.

Cons

  • Their refund policy is atrocious in my opinion
  • Their QBO integration doesn't work if payroll is enabled in QBO but in my experience they don't tell you that until you sign up.

Most Important Features

  • QBO integration, which doesn't work as advertised.

Return on Investment

  • ROI! Clockify refused to refund my money—It cost me $95 to discover it won't work for my business.
