UiPath Integration Service (including technology from Cloud Elements, following UiPath's acquisition of the company in 2021) is a cloud API integration service that uses cooperative
apps to connect an organization’s customers, partners and employees to the
cloud services they use. The vendor says that by using their pre-built
elements, their one-to-many approach connects applications with services, each
through a single API. The organization’s app can instantly share data with
other applications in the cloud, lifting the burden of integration off of
businesses and users. Users can design, aggregate and publish their own APIs
using the vendor’s Element Builder, which is their RESTful API Designer. This
solution includes real-time monitoring, usage, reporting and notifications with
enterprise-grade API management.

A flexible platform with great support
We leverage Cloud Elements to integrate popular software solutions with our platform. Our integrations live primarily in the Accounting and Email Marketing categories.
- Customer Support -- They have a knowledgeable team and are very responsive.
- Communication -- Most questions are addressed quickly
- Documentation -- The API documentation is well organized and easy to follow.
- Cost
- Less time on API maintenance.
- Quickly build new integrations.
- Effortless field mapping customization for our customers.

We use Cloud Elements to power our integrations with key platforms. We have received excellent feedback and it reduced our go to market timeline significantly. The platform is configurable and is highly customizable to meet most business needs. We have not received a lot of support issues either.

Cloud Elements is a great partner to bring integrations to market in a fraction of the time of building from scratch!
We use Cloud Elements to set up integrations between our platform and other technologies that are common to small and medium-sized businesses. It is being used by our product and technology teams but the integration layer is being used by hundreds of our small business customers every day. Cloud Elements allows us to move to bring integrations to market MUCH faster than if we were to build individual integrations to each platform.
- Allows us to explore building integrations for a ton of different technologies - they have a huge catalog of softwares they integrate with.
- Helps us troubleshoot issues with integrations. Their team even hosted us on their site to talk with some of their engineers and solutions architects to troubleshoot and strategize the first integration we brought to market.
- They provide go-to-market assistance and will try to help you learn from other companies they've engaged with to help bring integrations and products to market with intelligence they already have.
- The only thing I can think of that they could improve is the quality of the assets they produce in the go-to-market process. This is a huge value add service, but the quality of what was produced was lower than what we would have produced internally. We spent more time going back and forth on the assets than it would have taken us to build them from scratch.
- We are able to build integrations in HALF the time we could build them from scratch.
- They allow our development team to spend more hours focused on developing our core product, not connections to other products.
- Their large catalog of services to connect to allows us to spend much less time researching other platform integration endpoints and increases our R&D speed a considerable amount.
Cloud Elements was the vendor that had the largest catalog of technologies to integrate with, had support during the sales and development process, and provided go-to-market assistance that others did not offer. We chose them because of their suite of services and offerings and have been very happy with our decision.

Cloud Elements: An Arsenal of Integrations
Cloud Elements is the flexible foundation for various cloud integrations inside our product LiveTiles Design. For instance, it powers reading documents from OneDrive, Google Drive, Box, and Dropbox using a single unified integration.
- Maps a single integration to multiple systems, cutting down on the time and complexity to support multiple systems
- Robust and interactive documentation that guides the developer every step of the way
- Responsive and friendly customer success that supports your team's efforts
- When Cloud Elements rolled out their "Admin Console 2.0" it was a rough launch with many bugs
- Cloud Elements has a large variety of integrations, but certain desirable systems (EG, Workday or Xero) are not covered in their catalog
- Providing a truly unified API that returns the same format of data from each system requires writing transforms for each endpoint rather than it being an out-of-the-box feature
- Cloud Elements provided an initial ROI of accelerating delivery on integrations at about 4x speed as we were able to connect to a unified hub rather than building them one-by-one
- On an ongoing basis, Cloud Elements has likely saved us about one developer-worth of effort to extend and maintain our platform's integrations
- Cloud Elements has provided the unique capability for our pre-sales and customer success team to provide one-off demo integrations to customers to win deals and prove ROI to customers
MuleSoft is also a similar product to Cloud Elements, but is not available as an option in this form.
Workato and MuleSoft are competing cloud API connector platforms that perform a similar function to Cloud Elements. We chose Cloud Elements over them because CE provided a more robust path to unifying the behavior of connected systems.
Zapier is a workflow automation tool that I feel draws erroneous comparison to Cloud Elements that I need to highlight. Workflow automation tools (Zapier, IFTTT, Microsoft Flow) do provide multiple integrations, but for simplistic scenarios where only a handful of explicitly described steps need accomplished. Cloud Elements is a platform for developers to deliver faster and with higher reliability than making integrations one-by-one in complex systems that solve demanding problems.

Cloud Elements Review
We had an existing system that relied on using a limited selection of 3rd party Cloud Storage Providers, with plans on making our usage of cloud storage much more tightly integrated with our system and make it look more as part of the system and not some weak tack on. We also had desires of providing our own cloud storage as an option, likely on AWS S3. Our first task was to make sure we supported the existing list of Cloud Storage providers so we looked in to their APIs and it didn't take long to realize that although very similar in functionality we would need to have implementations for each provider meaning that we had to also support updates and changes to each API as well as implement our future features multiple times. With the addition of our desire to add our own cloud storage option it was quickly adding up in development time and ongoing maintenance time. This was more than we could deal with from such a small team while keeping pace on new features to keep us ahead of competition. Researching if anyone else had commented on the same issue of supporting multiple APIs we came across Cloud Elements who offered a Unified API solution. They had a Cloud Storage offering that allows you to develop against a single API provided by Cloud Elements while they take care of the various differences with the Cloud Storage Providers API. On top of covering off all the Storage Providers we were after they were also working on AWS S3 integration.
- The biggest pro is of course the unified APIs they provide. Developing against a single API and being able to say your product can support multiple providers all with one piece of development was fantastic.
- Their Integration support was great. We had weekly phone meetings to follow up on our progress and offer help on issues. This was all offered free, how good is that.
- Any features we requested were looked in to and prompt feedback on if/when they could be scheduled in were provided.
- Any updates to the endpoint APIs were taken care of by Cloud Elements meaning we could either just get on with things.
- Supporting new endpoints required no work. As Cloud Elements added more supported Storage Providers we could simply add them to our list of supported Storage Providers.
- There weren't really many cons to our experience. The only slight downside was the cost but they worked with us on that to make it work.
- Greatly reduced development and testing time for our project.
- Allowed us the ability to offer more integrations than we could have done without the Unified API.
- Will reduce our support needs as we only need to integrate with one API and Cloud Elements will be the ones responsible for the maintenance needs of integrating with the Cloud Storage providers.
At the time we found Cloud Elements we found no other option that had a Unified API for cloud storage providers.
