Pros and Cons

  • Robust Free Offering: The free tier is enough to get by on small projects, which is great for small startups.
  • Easy to Operate: Even if you don't have a technical department, you can figure out Cloudflare.
  • Site Speed: Implementing Cloudflare significantly increased the speed of our website.
  • The lower level plans don't allow you to use your own SSL certificate.
  • Reports dashboard could be more robust.
  • Some of the features they charge for you can access for free on other servers.

Pros and Cons

  • Easy to implement security and performance features making it a choice for all sites we launch whether they are more static business sites, eCommerce sites, or especially web applications.
  • Low cost and robust free plan make it an easy choice for the peace of mind performance/production it adds with minimal configuration.
  • Gives web applications and websites the infrastructure they want, whether they are big or small.
  • CloudFlare now offers so many features including video streaming and image resizing, that it might be difficult for those who aren't familiar with them to quickly grasp why they need CloudFlare.

Pros and Cons

  • Free! Most use cases will be free to use CloudFlare. You can't beat that!
  • Easy to use. The interface is super easy to use to modify whatever settings you need.
  • The advanced features are incredible! There is so much more you can do with CloudFlare that you'll likely never need to use it all.
  • Since I have to give 3 areas for improvement I have to be really picky. The first would be to make it easy for non-technical users to use. That moves outside of their target demo, though.
  • Push analytics reports to my email automatically.
  • Include custom pages for free. One can dream, right?

Pros and Cons

  • Best DNS Manager.
  • SSL and CDN are awesome for websites.
  • Detailed Analytics of Data captured when user visits Website.
  • Customer support and community is active and responds fast.
  • Customer Support via Phone Call and Other instant Chat features.
  • For our developer, caching was creating problem which created a downtime of the website for 30 min. So aching is an area where you need to focus if you are working with a dynamic website.
  • Options to Select region for Customized CDN.

Pros and Cons

  • DNS management is what CloudFlare excels at. If you need a new entry, it's very easy to create and works almost immediately.
  • It can also create SSL certificates to help secure your site and help visitors know that your site is secure. They make this process very quick and easy.
  • There aren't any areas we've seen or used where improvements are needed.

Pros and Cons

  • I haven't been able to spot a bug yet!
  • It's a solid CDN that will improve your sites for free.
  • Cloudflare rules are super powerful!
  • A mobile app that will allow you to adjust some basic settings on your sites would be great.
  • Reducing the HTTP requests that the Cloudflare apps are making would be great as well!

Pros and Cons

  • Security: Cloudflare keeps our website safe from DDoS attacks and other malicious traffic.
  • CDN: Cloudflare caches our website content, increasing our website's reliability and reducing server load. This saves on bandwidth costs from web servers.
  • Registrar: We can migrate domains to Cloudflare, though they don't currently allow the purchase of new domain names. The benefit of this is cheaper renewal fees and fewer systems involved in managing our domains.
  • Registrar features very limited: There are benefits to moving existing domain ownership to a Cloudflare account, but there are limitations: No new domain registration; Not all TLDs are supported; Domain transfer is tedious since there is no bulk transfer option (this also locks credit cards when transferring many domains since each is an individual transaction).
  • Cost increases quickly: Many features are available free but most business websites need more advanced features, which are billed monthly. These subscriptions get costly very quickly, especially when added to separate hosting and licensing fees.
  • Complicated by nature: The services Cloudflare provides are technical in nature and therefore not straightforward. This is the nature of the service though, Cloudflare makes it as easy to use as possible.

  • No API protection.

Pros and Cons

  • It is very easy to setup and modify if needed.
  • They have tons of other features on the paid version that allow you to make your website even faster.
  • They keep your site live by serving cached version, even if your site is down (paid version only).
  • I have never even had to call them for support, ever. I think that speaks for itself. If you need a CDN that is going to just work 100% of the time and save you time and money, they are the way to go.

Pros and Cons

  • DDOS attacks, it protects against them once nameservers are pointed at the system. CloudFlare does a good job even with their base package.
  • DNS record updates, it is very quick and easy to add or change DNS records. One of the best tools and easy to use for DNS management.
  • Reviewing traffic, CloudFlare does an excellent job of providing insight into how a website fares and how much good / bad traffic is hitting it.
  • It could use a better introduction to all of its features. Even the basic package has a lot of features and one is left to discover all of it on one's own.

Pros and Cons

  • CloudFlare's free CDN and free SSL tier are both great tools for those who are new to web development
  • CloudFlare's basic product includes basic DDoS protection
  • CloudFlare's cost structure is well-suited to most applications; there is a tremendous amount of functionality available on the free and $20/mo tiers
  • CloudFlare has expressed that it can be politically motivated, removing content from its system that its CEO did not agree with
  • CloudFlare's SSL termination arrangement can be difficult for new developers to understand -- particularly if it is setup in a way where traffic from CloudFlare to the origin is not protected by SSL. Its explanation of how this works is not user-friendly and over-emphasizes convenience over security.

  • Hiding my original IP to protect my web server
  • Always on Mode: Showing cached pages when my server is down
  • Protection from DDoS and many other threats
  • Apps

Pros and Cons

  • DNS management - Drop dead simple and fast interface, but not lacking on functionality
  • SSL Certificates - Easy and secure. Turning on SSL is as simple as pushing a button. There's no requirement to install anything on your server.
  • Crowdfunded security
  • CDN - CloudFlare uses a nonstandard CDN that automatically caches assets from your sites across the globe. This not only removes some straing on your own server(s) but speeds up the site for global users as well.
  • Multiple Users - It would be great to be able to have multiple users on one account.
  • Itemized Cache - Would love to see a list of files that have been cached by CloudFlare's CDN and when they will expire. Also nice to optionally remove one or more files from the cache.

Pros and Cons

  • Extremely easy to set up. A click of a button in the case of GlowHost customers. If shopping direct, the setup may be a bit more involved, but it is typically a matter of updating nameservers or modifying an A record or two.
  • The web app firewall is managed, which means CloudFlare users do not have to be constantly updating security policy for their web sites. It is all done for them.
  • There is a bug when Free CloudFlare accounts coming from a cPanel host who have the CloudFlare plugin installed attempt to sign up for an account with CloudFlare directly.
  • They could/should reward their partners for paid accounts upgrades or free accounts which have converted to paid. Monetarily is one way, but it does not necessarily have to be money. Mentions and co-branding or other marketing would be nice as well.

Pros and Cons

  • Simply add and configure as many subdomains as you want
  • Manage cryptography settings for your website (SSL)
  • Easyly configure CDN for each subdomain
  • When we change domain settings (SSL for example) they are not set immediately, but we need to wait some hours. Sometimes this has been an inconvenience.
