Community Insights

TrustRadius Insights are summaries of user sentiment data from TrustRadius reviews and, when necessary, 3rd-party data sources. Have feedback on this content? Let us know!

ContactMonkey has been praised by users for its email tracking feature, which allows them to know when clients, candidates, or potential clients have opened their emails. This functionality has been particularly valuable for tracking the effectiveness of prospecting emails and determining which ones are more successful. The insights provided by ContactMonkey's email tracking and data analytics have helped users follow up with clients at the right time and send the most relevant information. Additionally, users appreciate being able to track when priority emails are being opened, allowing them to prioritize their follow-ups.

Beyond email tracking, users find ContactMonkey easy to use for various tasks such as documenting emails, updating contacts, developing segmented email lists, and expanding contact information for email campaigns. This flexibility makes it a useful tool both for professional purposes and personal use. In fact, ContactMonkey is also handy for organizing all available information about contacts and can be utilized for background research before important meetings. However, some users have reported encountering issues with poor customer support from ContactMonkey, including slow response times and ineffective advice for fixing problems. Furthermore, there have been instances of billing problems such as unauthorized charges and lack of reminders for subscription renewals.

Email Tracking: Many users have found the email tracking feature to be extremely beneficial, allowing them to see when, where, and how often someone opens their emails. This has been particularly useful in sales, helping users determine which prospects to focus on and which emails are critical to keep track of.

Simplicity and Usefulness: The software's simplicity and usefulness have been appreciated by many users. They find it easy to use and rely heavily on it for tracking their emails and determining the effectiveness of their sales campaigns.

Real-Time Updates: Users value the real-time updates provided by the software, as it allows them to stay updated on the status of their emails. Being able to sort emails by type also helps them organize their follow-ups more efficiently.

Cons:

  1. Email Read Status Not Updating: Some users have reported that the sidebar showing email read status often fails to automatically update, leading to the assumption that emails haven't been read when they actually have. This requires users to manually click the refresh button on the sidebar to update the information.
  2. Slowdown and Inaccurate Tracking in Outlook: Several users have mentioned that the product tends to slow down Microsoft Outlook when syncing with Office 365. They have also noted occasional over-reporting of email opens and issues with tracking certain emails, especially mass mail merges from Word.
  3. Limited Support for Outlook: Users have expressed that the support for Outlook is not as robust as it is for Gmail. This has caused issues when referencing mail merges and scheduling outgoing mail merges for off-hours, making things difficult at times.

I purchased and use ContactMonkey by myself
  • Provides email open information
  • Identifies if an email has been shared and location the email was opened
  • Integrates nicely into HTML emails
  • Provides data regarding clicked links and most effective emails
  • Has a great search function
  • Salesforce integration seems unnecessary
  • Has refresh issues occasionally
  • Can cause slowing issues for Outlook
  • Doesn't have integration with Outlook.com/Exchange
If you are a sales rep and want to know if your email has been opened without having to use receipts this is perfect. However, many people find this intrusive and inappropriate. I don't believe in this day and age there should be a moral outrage to track your emails but it happens. I particularly like it for Outlook 2016. I've tried Yesaware but found this better suited.
  • I've found companies that have shared my email and opened the email 20-60 times but never responded. It gave me an absolute understanding that this was a hot company
  • Sometimes knowing your email is being opened can be very frustrating if you cannot get a response. However, at least you know it was read and they are not interested.
  • My boss and fellow employee's don't like the fact that I know where they are located. It's somewhat divisive in that sense.
Contact Monkey was the best solution for Outlook 2016. While Yesaware is a good product with Microsoft 365 integration, I found it expensive and too feature rich for what I needed. If you are just trying to find something simple that does what you need well and cheap, this is the best solution on the market. It does have Salesforce integration but I just use the Salesforce product that is free and provides the same or more prospect info.

I use this for updating contacts, developing segmented email lists for email campaigns, expanding contact lists to include more information about the contact and their organizations. Overall, this is a quick and easy way to upload information from business cards to your current contact database. It can be used by those who are organizing email marketing campaigns. It is also good for personal use -- since it organizes all available information about any given contact it is a great resource for looking up people before meetings and doing other types of background research.

  • Uploads information from business cards to your current contact database through your camera phone
  • Great resource for looking up people before meetings and doing other types of background research
  • Use information found on the internet to fill in information about your contact
  • It could allow for more business cards uploads per month.
  • It should automatically sync business accounts when individual accounts are updates.
  • More tips and resources on how to develop a good contact list would be nice.
The "merge contact" feature is great and allows you to review the contacts being merged before doing so automatically. It also integrates with Google accounts, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Yahoo. Another great feature is the ability to export data in a file, which you can then upload to your regular CRM software or to Constant Contact.
  • Segmenting list for higher click-through rates
  • Soliciting donations through emails campaigns
  • Collecting information about specific donors
Database management is far superior.
