Contractor Foreman is a versatile platform that caters to a wide range of construction management needs. Users rely on the software for tasks such as estimating, bidding, client management, project management, scheduling, and job clock tools. The platform streamlines workflow and expedites the process of delivering accurate information to the field. According to users, Contractor Foreman excels in crucial functions like CMR, estimates, material costing, and invoicing. Moreover, the developers continuously enhance the product by introducing new features and improvements.

One of the key use cases of Contractor Foreman is its ability to schedule projects and keep them organized and on track. Users appreciate the flexibility to create and maintain project-specific notes that technicians can easily reference. Additionally, the software aids in financial tracking for each project by tracking hours bid versus actual hours worked. This feature ensures accurate cost comparisons, helping users manage their finances effectively.

Integration with Quickbooks Online is highly valued among users as it eliminates the need for double-entry work and streamlines accounting processes. Contractor Foreman's cloud-based nature allows for easy access from multiple locations, making it particularly beneficial for managing remote workers and multiple sites. Its user-friendly interface and ease of learning make it accessible to users at all levels of technical expertise.

Contractor Foreman consolidates various construction management needs into one platform, eliminating the need for separate time tracking, CRM, and estimating systems. The software's customizable dashboard provides a comprehensive view of all aspects of the business, allowing users to efficiently manage lead tracking, estimating, subcontractor tracking, document storage, scheduling, and invoicing. Notably, users in commercial HVAC systems construction find Contractor Foreman invaluable due to its essential features for project management.

The job costing features have proven to be a cost-saving tool for users by preventing unaccounted for or mis-applied job materials. In addition, real-time labor cost insights provided by the time tracking features allow users to stay on top of their labor expenses. Contractor Foreman's customizable nature, integration options, and cloud-based functionality make it a one-stop-shop for managing blueprints, email exchanges, and receipts.

Overall, Contractor Foreman has established itself as a reliable solution for construction management needs, helping users streamline their workflows, improve project efficiency, and effectively manage their finances.

Time/Employee Tracking: Many users have found the time/employee tracking feature to be very useful for managing projects and keeping track of employee productivity. It has allowed them to monitor and record the time spent on various tasks and projects, ensuring efficient project management.

Contact Directory: The contact directory feature has been appreciated by users as it makes it easy to access and manage client information. They have found it convenient to have all their client contacts in one place, improving their ability to stay organized and effectively communicate with clients.

Permission Structure: Users have liked the permission structure feature, which allows them to control access levels for employees and clients. This ensures the security and privacy of sensitive information. Some reviewers mentioned that this feature provides peace of mind, knowing that only authorized individuals can access certain data or documents.

Inexperienced or Outdated Chat Techs: Many users have expressed frustration with the chat support, stating that a significant number of techs lack experience or are not up-to-date with the product's features. This issue has been mentioned by multiple reviewers.

Lack of Written Help Section: Several reviewers have mentioned that they struggle to find the information they need due to the absence of a written help section. The lack of easily accessible documentation hinders users' ability to troubleshoot issues and learn how to use the software effectively.

Limited Customization Options: A common complaint among customers is the limited customization options for complexity. Users feel constrained in tailoring the software to meet their specific needs, resulting in reduced flexibility and efficiency in their workflow.

I use Contractor Foreman for just about everything to do with our company. I am a trained cost estimator, and though the estimating module is likely their weakest, the one spectacular thing about this company is how hard they work to improve their product. Could they listen to their knowledgeable clients a bit more? Emphatically yes, but they seem to have muddled through the other upgrades fairly well, I'll reserve judgement until I see the upgrades.

We also use the program for back-office. Unfortunately we have unresolved issues with their payment system (it just does not work for us) but it seems to function well enough. The learning curve to integrate with Excel is rather long and complicated, but this module does an awful, lot, so we have been able to find 'workarounds' for what we need so far.

We use the time clock function, and it has the issues that ALL time clock apps have with connectivity, location tracking, etc., but they have been improving it a lot recently. The one place I would really love to see some love is the 'Invitation To Bid' functionality. This is a contractual 'step' in the bidding process and is not being treated that way, but I have hope they will see the light here as well.
  • Time/employee tracking
  • Contact directory
  • Permission structure (employee and client)
  • Estimating
  • Excel/Payment integration
  • 'Invitation To Bid' functionality
  • A written help product. Many of their chat techs are either new or behind the curve and there is no written help section to reference
In this case, CF is the best of the 'OK so far' category in my mind. NONE of the software available today gets close to a truly effective, user friendly GUI and functionality set. I have used 7 different systems over the years, with the top 4 big names having the largest hours operating. Most have less functionality, others are severely overpriced and under featured. Still others are so complicated you need an entire IT department to implement them. Contractor Foreman does much of what it does the absolute best for the money, meaning this is probably the best value for construction management software I'm aware of. I believe I can say with confidence, that if CF does it, it strives to do it well, and continues to strive to get it better. Picking a feature or two that excels is rather pointless in a company with that outlook. THAT is a company I can get behind...

  • The ability to implement a full 'defensive system' for employee management has saved us hundreds of dollars in lost time defending against false unemployment claims.
  • The app availability and permission structure for clients access to info has made change orders easier (and less costly from a labor standpoint) than it ever has been
  • As much as the estimating and bidding module needs upgrades, what is available has made it a bit easier to send and track ITBs. This was and remains one of the main 'time sucks' we are attempting to tame
Of all the myriad different systems I have used over the last 20 years, Contractor Foreman seems to not only be better, but more serious and dedicated to continuous improvements to their platform. THAT will make for the best app, not just today but every year it continues this practice. This is how I run MY company and I consider it the only sane way to do so if you want to have a lifespan of more than a few years.

CF currently does onsite app better than anyone I know but it still needs work
CF has a good timekeeping setup, it needs to get better at integrating with ALL payroll companies because it's own module is not quite up to snuff yet
CF has a decent bidding module, but my own setup is still superior in too many ways to adopt theirs 100% just yet, but I'm close. (Most estimators using this level of software are not as demanding as I am)
CF is very good at uploading files, it needs to better at organizing and presenting them better and at salient points in the GUI. (It HAS gotten better recently)
CF has an EXCELLENT contact tracking system. Integration with internet enabled phones would be awesome, but I'm nit picking. I WOULD like the ability to add contact books and permissions for those books, just because I want to be able to use it for personal contacts as well!
The CF 'internal project landing page' is very good. It has an intuitive layout and has everything available to access all aspects of that project.
The CF client landing page is very good, I would like the ability to embed HTML for 'widgets' like weather and maps, but CF has actually addressed this and added some functionality on this since we signed up.

Yes
CoConstruct. I am familiar with BuilderTrend, which is overpriced and under featured for that price, so I tried CoConstruct knowing it had less features as well. It was a disaster, did not function as was promised. One bright spot there? The ability to use an 'open book' management system. I have experience with Sage-far too complicated and more than we need.We tied Striven-not enough functionality and they charge for service Smartsheet, Procore, Autodesk Build and Houzz Pro did not even make it to a trial implementation

Contractor Foreman had all the components that I was looking for, but were not implemented in the app as well as they should have been. I heard their dedication to improvement and took a chance. THAT dedication to improving their product was the single largest part of our decision, and it seems to be paying off so far
I wouldn't. I designed a very rigorous and detailed evaluation process based on decades worth of experience. Ask ANY one of the companies I trialed, or even CF and you will get an earful on this for sure... I actually asked them if they wanted me a customer, told them from the beginning I was going to challenge them at every turn. They welcomed the challenge.

This is a company I can get behind for this very reason
I rarely give anyone a 9 or 10 rating for service. The main reason for this rating is Contractor Foreman's dedication to improvement. To be completely frank, CF has fallen down on their tech help with me several times, but I am an exceptionally difficult user to service as I tend to use a product up to it's limits and want more. CF has actually addressed these wants several times (after waits that seemed interminable, but were actually pretty damn fast in the reality of software development)
Support was included. This was HUGE part of my decision to implement their software. Any company that charges large sums for service has not sufficiently developed their app or their GUI.
Yes
I have reported a few, especially early on. Some were fixed quickly, one I know of took months. That is STILL miles ahead of many other apps
I have had regular calls from senior techs to resolve issues that their (admittedly) junior techs on their chat system cannot answer. What Contractor Foreman excels at is 'escalating' their own issues. I have not found a lot of 'defiance' techs there (will not escalate, usually because company culture punishes for that). Ask me about how terrible Bluebeam is at this....

We started out not using any software program at all. We used QuickBooks and Excel spreadsheets to track projects. While this worked for us, we wanted something to help manage our day to day activities. We also wanted something that would be a one stop shop for all of our blueprints, email exchanges, receipts, etc. We researched at least 5 different companies before deciding on Contractor Foreman.
  • Calendar
  • Ability to make extra folders for managing files
  • Easily access reports w/ a multitude of options
  • Easily track spending
  • Directory issue / sometimes searches don't produce the vendor
Contractor Foreman has been well suited for our small construction business. We are still learning it, but have been impressed with the reports we can run, tracking our spending, and easily viewing our estimates. I also like being able to access it on my phone. The app works well for me.

I compared several other options. I read reviews others wrote about Contractor Foreman before deciding. Ultimately, it came down to the exceptional (low) price and the excellent reviews on customer service (in particular,... answering questions, and being able to click on the "Live Chat" option at any time).
I wouldn't change it. I am happy with the choice we made.
