What is Coveo Qubit?

Coveo Qubit (acquired October 2021) uses rich visitor data to understand different user segments and serve personalized messages to audience segments using JavaScript. It is available on either a managed or self-service model.

Data is collected using Qubit’s own QProtocol data layer, or by integrating the user’s existing model via our API. Quantitative visitor behavioral data is combined with qualitative visitor feedback and ingested data from Qubit users' other systems of record enabling them to identify areas of the site and customer groups to optimize and target with personalization experiences.

Using JavaScript means that changes do not have to be hard-coded into the site, giving marketers and ecommerce teams greater power to implement changes outside of the development cycle.

Users can A/B test any changes to their site using Qubit, and the user interface lets them know what the test results are.

Very simple user interface, built on top of advanced functionality, makes the platform easy to use. The team at Qubit are also very open to feedback and introduce new and useful features fairly often. On the reporting side, the inbuilt dashboard reports are good for a top-level view of test results, and Qubit have made a lot of their output data available should you wish to run your own analysis.

Overall, the interface is quite simple to use for marketers and developers alike to configure basic experiences.
However, more complex experiences - especially when using segments and exclusions between different experiences - are much harder to configure and require to use workarounds.
Documentation and self-help is also very limited, making it hard to understand how to use advanced features.

Overall, pretty intuitive. Some new functionality can tend to appear which can throw you off if you miss the email announcements but not to hard to get to grips with quickly.
The documentation is a particular help, especially when training others internally. The segment builder is particularly good; simply choose what you need & when. Very quick & simple to use.

In general Qubit is a user friendly tool that was built taking into consideration fundamental principles of good UX and UI. For example the navigation is really thought through and makes perfect sense. On the other hand there are some features that could be improved, e.g. a user cannot switch between visual and custom implementation of the experiences which can cause a massive headache. Also the visual mode can be sometimes confusing (the layers cannot be ordered making some elements not visible and in the result the whole test needs to be built again).

It's worth to mention that Qubit is not more confusing than any other A/B testing tool and after a few hours anyone should be able to use it effectively.

Overall navigation on Qubit is very user friendly and requires a minimal training to be up and running. Be it reviewing existing experiences or setting up new experiences, the process is pretty simple for business user. Add some basic development skills to your kitty, you can do magic with Qubit and make your website do wonders!
