Db2 is used in factories, to collect all data about products produced. It is used to insert/follow up orders of products We also have a datawarehouse where we create all kind of statistics/reports
  • manageability
  • monitoring
  • easiness of use/administration
  • TSA and integration of other products
well suited : as Db2 is easy to use and administer, almost all scenarios where data is to be handled and/or be kept are suitable the integration of XML is well done
  • makes follow up easier and we can act faster in case of problems discovered
we have small and larger databases. for the end-user we do not see any difference according the size. it can handle both at the same speed
we have very few outages. we have hadr/tsa implemented to have high availability and automation of this process
I prefer Db2 and hist command line interface

It is used by employees that create reports about the produced parts

DB2 is used as RDBMS for transactional and reporting applications. We have built a custom application using DB2, and it is also used for reporting and analytics purposes.
  • Reporting and analytics.
  • Data storage.
  • Data retrieval.
  • Search speed needs to be improved; it's quite slow.
  • Overall, this product has nifty features that work seamlessly with top-of-the-line technology.
  • Storing blobs.
A fairly stable database server that is compatible with other tools, making this software the best on the market in terms of data systematization and control; it is fully manageable with multiple platforms making everything easier.
  • Low license administration cost.
  • It offers an integrated and secure data storage service.
  • This service is very easy to manage and costs are low, it also offers advanced security.
This IBM service is perfect for companies that have other services that can be integrated as in other IBM software; in relation to its scalability, I cannot give a precise opinion; based on the fact that it is an IBM database service, I consider that its The level of scalability is acceptable.
Business continuity has improved, and the performance has been stable.
Before selecting Db2, I had the opportunity to work with three different products: MySQL, IBM API Connect, and IBM Cloud Databases.MySQL is a very popular and effective relational database management system, especially known for its ease of use and reliability. While working with MySQL, I appreciated its flexibility and vast support community. However, when it came to handling large volumes of data and high availability resources, I felt I needed a more robust solution like Db2.

We have not used this feature yet. But this is on our road map for 2024. We are hoping to use AI and ML to analyse student information to discover trends that can assist teaching staff in early intervention of any student related issues.visualisation of these AI features will be a game changer so executive staff as they could be feed realtime insights into what’s happening across our school.

It does cope with large datasets but as you collect more info, it will start to slow down. Hardware plays a part on this as well. But it’s always good practice to keep your data clean for best performance. In my case, we are updating datasets multiple times a day as we track things like attendance, charges, academic marks.
It would not change my evaluation process. We applied the correct lens based on our org needs to choose Db2

We did not see a value add hence did not opt for premium support. Also we have experienced DB2 professionals in house so we were very well staffed

DB2 is Good

It is used widely company wise by different department and different applications, mostly it is lagacy system, created in house or vendors. DB2 have very important company data, transnational and reporting.
  • DB2 has build in replication tools make online data replication/movement much easier and fast.
  • DB2 HADR is reliable, keep Database up and running 99.99% of time, switch beween servers in seconds.
  • DB2 Federation make the access to all kinds of Databases like in one.
  • DB2 is stable on Linux/AIX even Windows.
  • DB2 Locks is too strict, very little flexibility
  • Like to more built-in function, procedure for Analysis/Reporting
  • Love to see DB2 can go open source, so that it can get more developer involved
It is good to in traditional transaction DB world. Not easy to scale out horizontally, but vertically.
  • DB2 is holding very important company data and critical application is running on DB2.
  • Flexible License make the deploy to Developer desktop/VM very easy.
  • For developer from other vendors, not easy to write efficient query.
We have deployed DB2 in different environment, mostly of the system has 20 years of history. As of scalability, we can do vertically so far.
availability is the advantage of DB2 HADR. When unplanned outage happens, HADR will switch on the standby into primary using TSA until both server has issue at the same time. When application has errors, db itself will reflect the same.
