A subgroup of IT department handles the support for IBM based software, which includes DB2. The group consists of 2 on IT assistants (diploma in IT), 2 IT engineers (Bachelors in CS/IT) and a manager.
Skills required include basic knowledge of shell, SQL queries, RDBMS and familiarity with cloud computing interface.

In general we have a bit of overlap in resource skill set from different departments, but the core group is made up of systems engineers, DBAs, Data Engineers and Analysts, App Developers, Disaster Recovery staff which would include those responsible for system uptime and restoration of services, and product management resources.

Our information systems team consists of database admins from a range of backgrounds. Skills required include previous exposure to relational databases and experience writing database queries. As we use DB2 to house our school data, understanding the relationship between students, families and educational data is greatly desired. Queries for standardised reports are the day to day requirements for this role type.

As I am a student and currently using Db2 primarily for educational and learning purposes, I do not have a dedicated in-house team to support Db2 on an ongoing basis. My focus is on understanding the functionality and capabilities of Db2, not on providing operational or technical support for it in an enterprise environment. Therefore, all support or implementation issues related to Db2 are handled autonomously, using available educational resources and learning materials, as well as relying on support from the online community and forums when necessary.
