DBArtisan has gained popularity among database administrators, known as DBAs, for its effective management of large and complex databases. Users appreciate the centralized console that allows them to handle multiple DBMS at once, making it a valuable tool for end-to-end database administration. With DBArtisan, users can easily integrate and manage data from various sources, including legacy projects, in production and QA environments.

One significant benefit of using DBArtisan is its enhanced data flow and analysis capabilities. Users have described this feature as a game changer, enabling them to design more structured and manageable PL/SQL procedures. Furthermore, DBArtisan simplifies the process of finding tables and views, streamlining development and improving efficiency.

The software has been praised for its cost-effectiveness compared to previous products used by reviewers. DBArtisan is highly regarded by DBAs who work with multiple databases due to its user-friendly interface and time-saving features. It offers an intuitive environment for monitoring databases, running SQL codes, and managing database infrastructure elements like triggers. Additionally, it seamlessly integrates with major RDBMS platforms like Oracle Enterprise Manager and complementary tools such as Toad/SQL Developer.

In summary, DBArtisan serves as a reliable platform for DBAs' day-to-day management tasks. Its ability to centralize database administration efforts, enhance data flow analysis, and provide a user-friendly interface makes it an invaluable tool for working with large and complex databases.

Within the Developers, DBArtisan is used primarily as a database IDE and to manage the database's infrastructure. There are plenty of good free IDE alternatives, our favorite is SQuirreL, but its ability to manipulate db devices, monitor logs, manage elements like triggers, and much more make it worth the investment for us. This tool gives you a familiar front into most your database's inner workings.
  • IDE
  • DB Management
  • Locks up far too often
  • Licensing structure is expensive
It is a basic IDE with DB Management support. If you are managing various DBs, or are looking for an easy to use GUI, DbArtisan is nice.

Technically, everything that it does can easily be done on command line and scripted. It isn't necessary, so given its price it all depends on how valuable your IT's time is.

  • While it is expensive, it saves us a great deal of time in getting a lot of DB work done.
  • The front end is reasonably powerful and significantly more polished than any of the free alternatives
SQuirreL isn't showing up in the search results ... that is our favorite free alternative. Very powerful IDE, very easy to use.
Oracle SQL Developer is just a very basic front end. Free, simple, works, but in a different league from DBArtisan.
I recently tried IntelliJ. I wasn't too much a fan, so I stuck with DBArtisan.
I have never tried their support so the number above is meaningless.
