Definitive Healthcare has become an invaluable tool for users in the healthcare industry, offering a wide range of use cases that have proven beneficial. Users have found the software to be a powerful resource for conducting market research and prospecting customers. It provides comprehensive information on healthcare providers, including the types of services they offer, their charges/claim volume, and the hierarchical structure of health systems. This allows users to gain insights into various aspects of healthcare facilities, such as bed counts, percentage of Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance, number of ER visits per year, and length of stay. Additionally, the software enables easy comparison between different organizations by combining information from CMS cost reports and creating digestible formats for analysis. The recent addition of dashboards further enhances the ability to compare to national rankings.

One of the standout features of Definitive Healthcare is its ability to facilitate sales conversations and connect users with the right people at hospitals. By providing rapid access to contact information for healthcare providers, it helps improve the speed and efficiency of teams. Users have reported finding value in easily finding specific numbers per hospital and being able to identify executive members and understand affiliations. The software has also been crucial in strategic selling efforts, as it allows hospitals to leverage health system claims information and understand the quality scores of each facility.

However, some users have encountered challenges with outdated or incorrect contact information in the database. They have found other sources like Zoominfo to provide more comprehensive details. Pricing concerns have also been raised by some users who find it difficult to afford the software. Despite these drawbacks, Definitive Healthcare remains an indispensable resource for sales professionals selling into operating rooms as it provides OR contacts and information on the number of operating rooms in hospitals.

Overall, Definitive Healthcare delivers incomparable data for market research, prospecting customers, and keeping track of information within health systems. It has proven valuable in helping users define whether someone is within their ideal customer profile by providing comprehensive information on the size and number of staff within an organization. With its wide range of use cases and features, Definitive Healthcare continues to be a go-to solution for organizations in the healthcare industry.

Companies can't remove reviews or game the system. Here's why

We licensed Definitive Healthcare's data to use for prospecting in healthcare. We found it clumsy and non-intuitive, but by far, the biggest issue was the error rates - we experienced errors as high as 30% on some lists.
  • Sales person was very persuasive.
  • I feel customer success was nice but not helpful.
  • In my opinion, they do a good job of locking licensees into contracts where they have all the leverage.
  • In my experience, the data is shot full of errors. We couldn't use it
  • Definitive Healthcare needs better data
  • I know a contact who moved employers 6 mos ago - his data in Definitive Healthcare is STILL INCORRECT
I think the best scenario for using Definitive Healthcare is if accuracy isn't very important. If you just want to spam a lot of people and you don't really care where the contacts land, they're your vendor.

If, on the other hand, you like accuracy and are hoping the commercial list vendor supplies data that will help your business grow, I feel they are less well suited to those use cases.
  • The contract expiration
  • The date when the contract ends
  • Or they go out of business
  • In my experience, We've experienced no value from the data
  • In my opinion, we've paid for no value
  • So the RoI is negative
Definitive Healthcare seems like it has what you need - a lot of healthcare data. In my case, they purport to have everything from employee emails to billing and reimbursement data. Unfortunately, we didn't find it was accurate enough to use. Combine this with the mandatory 3-year contracts, and, in my opinion, it's a big waste of money.

We used Definitive Healthcare to find practices, medical groups, and health systems in our respective territories. We also used it to find appropriate contacts such as head physician, owner, and practice administrator. This helps us ensure that we are reaching out to the correct prospect in the correct location and within the correct specialty. Definitive [Healthcare] also helps show what health systems or medical groups own specific practices, hospitals, and medical centers.
  • Provides a list of hospitals, health systems, medical groups, and practices
  • Helps show what locations are under certain systems or groups
  • Gives insight into specialties and employee counts
  • Sometimes the contact information is incorrect
  • There are times when the listed provider or contact is no longer working there
  • It could integrate with Salesforce
Definitive Healthcare is well suited for getting a better understanding of your [...] healthcare ecosystem. It is good for finding practices or medical groups related to a specific specialty or in a specific location. It helps with prospecting because you can see the size of the location, who it is connected to, where it is located, the [number] of employees, and the appropriate contacts.
  • List building
  • Practice search
  • Administrator search
  • Able to find information to leverage during outreach
  • Reps make smarter decisions
ZoomInfo has more than just healthcare contact information; however, Definitive [Healthcare] is specific to healthcare and provides more insights around specialties, affiliations, contacts, and providers. I think both are great, but for healthcare location-specific information searches, Definitive Healthcare is a must-have. You can get alerts for both products, but Definitive [Healthcare] can be a little more pinpointed in the information.

We implemented Definitive [Healthcare] for our Sales Team in order to reach C-level and Director level contacts at hospitals and health systems.
  • Good data and information about health and hospital systems such as size, revenue, software.
  • Healthcare specific. There's no other noise.
  • Outdated UI and lacks integration with popular software
  • Account Management team is unempowered to solve problems or come up with creative solutions.
  • Slow response time. I waited 3 weeks for a response from their team on a question.
  • Database lack key contacts especially Director level and above. Poor tool for sales team.
  • Poor customer service. I constantly felt like I was chasing them for a meeting or on questions.
Trial [Definitive Healthcare] and make sure you test all scenarios. Once they lock you into a contract, they're not letting you out of it, even if you prove that their database lacks key information that you were looking for. You'll be running around and chasing them for months and still get no resolution.
  • Zero
We switched to ZoomInfo and we've been loving it. Must more advanced database that's integrated with popular applications.
It was unusable for us because key contacts were not there and our sales team had to tell Definitive what contacts were missing. Waste of time and money.
Account Managers and team often do not respond for weeks at a time.

Definitive Healthcare is being used across the organization. We use it to keep count of information within healthcare systems. It helps us define whether someone is within our ideal customer profile by defining the size and number of staff within an organization.
  • We can link information directly to Salesforce pages. Automatically updates on pages.
  • Gives specifics about organizations such as executives, size, revenue, etc.
  • I have noticed they do not update C suite members often, so when trying to reach out to prospects, the information can be outdated.
Definitive is very well suited when you need overall knowledge of an organization. I would not recommend using this specifically to enrich the database with contact records.
  • Made it easy for us to define which companies we should be reaching out to.
  • Integration with Salesforce made accounts more efficient.
I use both. Definitive Healthcare is better when you need specific hospital and clinic names. ZoomInfo only gives you a local address but refers to each location as the health system name so hard to define where particular people are from.
