What is Degreed?

Degreed is a workforce upskilling platform boasting users among one in three Fortune 50 companies. It connects learning, talent development, and internal mobility opportunities to intelligence on the skills a business needs next. Degreed packages the capabilities in what the vendor provides as a simple, fluid, skill-building experience that’s powered by the user's own people’s expertise and interests to transform the workforce from within.

The vendor presents the solution as one simple, fluid skill-building and career-development experience powered by people’s skill profiles and data. Degreed can be used for learning and development, skill analytics, or career mobility. Or combine all three for what the vendor presents as a powerful upskilling and reskilling experience.

Pros

  • Learning paths are one of the most important things about Degreed. This platform allows me to create a personalized "playlist" type learning path where I can insert all the material or courses corresponding to all my employees. These routes allow me to add a correct order to each of the courses so that my employees have an order in their learning.
  • Degreed's internal currency allows my employees to access courses or material that is important to them. It is important to note that each employee can draw their own objectives and can choose what they want to learn on this platform, that is why we have chosen to provide a certain amount of coins to our employees so that they can learn and obtain additional material to the one we share with them.
  • The reports are very detailed. It is one of the things I like the most about Degreed, from the main panel I can access the learning that my employees have had, I can see what courses they have taken, what videos or what books they have obtained and what learning they have had in the last days. In addition, I can also check the learning performance of my other work colleagues located in other sectors of the company.

Cons

  • One of the main challenges that have arisen during the use of Degreed is that I must constantly review the learning behavior of each of my employees. Degreed does not have a notification system which alerts me when an employee is active on the platform and is learning, this platform does not offer me that notification system. It is a bit annoying having to watch out that our employees are fulfilling their duties in the apprenticeship that has been placed on them.

Return on Investment

  • Our employees were able to develop new skills and new talents that allowed them to have better productivity and could develop better activities within our labor sector.
  • We have saved money on the learning material compartment. We used to spend a lot of money on material for our employees, but the courses Degreed offers are at a more affordable price.
  • The socialization of our employees has improved significantly. Thanks to the "community" system that Degreed offers, our employees can discuss learning topics while taking a course or watching a video.

Pros

  • Easy to access multiple learning platforms.
  • Easy to use platform and design.

Cons

  • Degreed itself doesn't offer a whole lot of courses.
  • It can be tricky to add some material that is found outside the platform.

  • It has allowed employees to keep track of their learning progress, as well as allow them easy access to all courses across available platforms.

Pros

  • Enterprise-wide provisioning of required and/or optional trainings.
  • Clean presentation of anything our admin's need to show with great feedback opportunities and participation rates.
  • Accountability and progress tracking is pretty spot on as you progress through a course.

Cons

  • I think that there were times that if the internet/site had an issue some progress in certain courses was lost, but it was pretty rare.
  • It would be great if we were made more aware of how we could utilize the full functionality of the tool as end users.
  • Certificates of completion (pdf,jpeg, etc) could be a fun addition, if it doesn't already exist.

Return on Investment

  • I see a lot of positive impact from getting our new employees into their roles faster and more prepared using Degreed courses.
  • The time savings and quality of learning provide an enormous ROI on their own.
  • I have also seen an increase in both learning accountability and collaboration within our teams.

  • Easy to use interface, no one ever has had issues navigating through it

  • No data storage for files and documents, it's limited
  • No search option for certain courses

  • Negative in the sense that reporting is terrible
