Dentrix has been utilized since 2017 to seamlessly convert paper records into scanned documents within the Dentrix EMR system. Users have found it to be a valuable tool for digitizing and organizing patient information, eliminating the need for cumbersome paper charts. The software offers basic capabilities for successful patient care and is complemented by excellent technical support, ensuring a smooth transition from paper-based to digital record-keeping. With Dentrix G7, users can easily set up the EMR system and access it from any clinic, enhancing efficiency and convenience.

The web-based program of Dentrix has proven to be user-friendly, offering features like line-item accounting and user-defined reports. These functionalities assist dental offices in managing their front desk operations, clinical work, and business areas effectively. Dentrix plays a crucial role in scheduling patient appointments, managing claims, and facilitating other billing tasks. It was developed in 1995 by a user who recognized the challenges of paper charting and the need for integration with digital imaging software. Over time, Dentrix has evolved to become one of the top leaders in the dental software industry, providing a reliable backbone for dental offices.

Not only does Dentrix streamline operations and improve workflow efficiency, but it also prioritizes data security. By eliminating the reliance on paper records, Dentrix helps ensure that patient information remains safe and secure. Additionally, dentists have found value in utilizing Dentrix alongside marketing tools to ensure that patients show up for their scheduled appointments. This further enhances patient engagement and practice productivity. Overall, Dentrix serves as an essential solution for dental offices seeking to optimize their record-keeping processes while providing efficient patient care.

Based on user reviews, a common recommendation for Dentrix is to consider other options such as Open Dental for cheaper and easier-to-use software. Users also suggest utilizing the training offered by Dentrix despite its expensive cost and evaluating specific needs and costs before choosing Dentrix. Additionally, seeking guidance from experienced users or Dentrix support when encountering difficulties is advised. It is also recommended to compare Dentrix with other software options and attend training sessions to fully utilize its capabilities.

We schedule patients, keep track of patient and family records, we upload x-rays to Dentrix and also save a lot of time because we do not have to use paper any more to track our patient information. We upload health history forms. The problem that it helps with is making sure all our patients' information is safe and secure.
  • Scheduling.
  • Charting.
  • Syncing quickly.
  • Outdated--it's not cloud based.
  • Does not pull reports we need for patients like demographics in flow charts.
  • Is not an open API.
This software is definitely a leader in dental, But it has a long way to go. Being in marketing I wish it could connect to HubSpot or other marketing platforms and tell me exactly who came in as a patient and where they came from. Right now there is no way to do it. That I know of at least. I think an office that is more old school and not as progressive as we are would do great with it, but we are in need of a more advanced software. We are looking into other options right now like tab 32.
  • Patient security.
  • Scheduling.
  • Family files.
  • Saved us lots of time.
  • Given us consistency among charting.
  • Organized our communication internally.
Dentrix seemed to be the best fit when we were small and only three practices. But now we are looking into other options like tab 32, the cloud-based system. We are looking into Dentrix Ascend because it is cloud-based and we are about to run out of space on our server. I think that it has not kept up with the other software because it is not able to handle online scheduling and automatic patient communication so we have to hire a third-party to do that right now.

I help to implement Dentrix together with my marketing tool (Gohighlevel) and we use it hand in hand to ensure that patients show up for their appointment.
  • Patient management and keeping records.
  • Good charting notes on a medical level.
  • Good revenue tracking capabilities.
  • Good fast sms reply system.
  • Bad pipeline management system.
  • Old in UI.
  • Complicated to start using.
It is used as a patient management system but not as a full-fledged marketing and customer relationship system. The most dentist I have worked with have tried to use it for both marketing and a patient management system and IT Caused a huge mess in their database. I will encourage all dentists to separate both functions and the software that they use to manage them.
  • Patient management.
  • Revenue tracking.
  • Recare reminders.
  • Increase ROI.
  • Negative - creates confusion if a patient is a marketing lead patient.
  • Increase recare scheduling.
Dentrix has better customer service support.

Dentrix has been in use for our company since we moved away from HealthProXL back in 2017. Dentrix allowed us to convert all of our pre-existing paper records into scanned documents that were saved within the Dentrix EMR system.

Patient care wise, Dentrix has provided all the basic capabilities to provide successful patient care along with their great technical support. Being that I'm in IT, I don't handle the patient care aspect, but I support our dental staff who provides the patient care. Dentrix support is excellent to work with, they understand the problems and detail what they are going to resolve the problems.

Dentrix G7 has allowed us to have a greater EMR system setup than the first EMR and paper records combination.
  • Detailed Charting
  • Excellent technical support
  • Ease of installation of the software
  • Limited capabilities for capturing demographic data for reporting purposes for FQHC's in the G7 version. (Enterprise Edition is needed for this)
  • Inability to run G7 at multiple sites without a terminal server setup and limited speeds.
  • Better image integration with DEXIS.
Dentrix G7 is better suited for small private dental offices that are not doing federal FQHC data reporting every year. G7 doesn't allow for the full capturing of all FQHC data that is needed as the enterprise edition does. Dentrix G7 also is not suited well for mutliple site dental offices as that is not technically supported. There is a work around requiring a Windows terminal server to setup Dentrix as a server application. Any businesses that have multiple dental offices are better suited for the Dentrix Enterprise edition which does allow for this and hosted Dentrix.
  • Dental Charting
  • Xray/Imaging capture by Dexis and storage in Dentrix
  • Billing and front office scheduling.
  • Dentrix has streamlined going from paper records to full EMR
  • Dentrix has allowed for better data sharing between dental providers and staff.
  • Dentrix has allowed for staff to see more patients through streamlining features.
I used Patterson's EagleSoft in a limited capacity at a previous health center job. On the back end, EagleSoft was easier to setup, install, and manage than Dentrix. Backing up data files, migrating servers, was easier (but slower) on EagleSoft than on Dentrix. Dentrix appears to have a greater feature capability/set than EagleSoft does. Both have excellent technical support that is responsive, indepth, and well suited to address IT related problems with both EMR systems.

It is being used by all of dental in our organization. No problems at all and it can be accessed from any clinics, it is easy to use, web based so I can access the program anytime and anywhere, line-item accounting is awesome, some user-defined reports, everything is backed up in the cloud. You can see all our locations by permission and there are multiple ways to navigate patient records. The treatment planner could use some improvement
  • user friendly
  • lots of features
  • Billing is easy
  • treatment planner improvement
  • Have to click to many times to get to some steps
  • Difficult to email the ledger to a patient
  • Would like to be able to customize it more
  • Sometimes it freezes
Good support and easy integration. I like that Dentrix accepts requests to make changes and prioritizes the requests by how many other companies are requesting the same change. Can access all patients from all locations. It helps us make better decisions. Easy to use. Customer Service is very courteous, professional and helpful. Great graphics and and definitely serves its purpose.
  • Charting is very detailed
  • Treatment Plans
  • Appointment scheduling is easy
  • finance
  • patient portal
  • patient communication
  • Allows you to change the date to any date - Negative
  • Simple Document center
  • Sometimes it runs slow
  • Support
  • return on investment
  • integration was easy
  • positive impact
I love that the software is cloud based. Features are constantly being added and updated which I love. It is intuitive, especially for younger users who are familiar with using the internet/ computers. Scheduling and treatment planning is simple. Very easy to use and to also make changes. This is a very good product and I highly recommend it

Dentrix is used across my entire dental practice - a private office with 13 employees. It address the problems that arise with paper charting. It also integrated with digital imaging software. It is known as one of the top leaders in the industry as far as dental software is concerned.
  • Support
  • Imaging integration
  • Support hours on weekends
  • E-services
[Dentrix is] well suited for a busy practice like my own. Does require a significant up front investment. It was already in place when I purchased the practice from the previous owner. May not be suited for a smaller practice that would not find value in the upfront costs associated with it.
  • Imaging integration
  • Ease of use
  • Support
  • Positive -saves time in regards to eliminating paper charts
I have previously used Eaglesoft and Easy Dental. I have found Dentrix to be very comparable to Eaglesoft, and myself and my team feel that it is relatively essay to use and seems to have a low learning curve for new members added to the team, at least in my experience.
