Why DigitalOcean Dominates the VPS Market
- DigitalOcean is best suited for SMBs. Very obviously, they get very get profound ROI on DigitalOcean. Return on Investment is very high.
- Scalability: The only problem is when the SMBs turn into large enterprises. They feel like moving away to another cloud provider like Amazon Web Service or Microsoft Azure who provide more specific products for successfully running an enterprise.
- Support: Support might be a drawback as they have a very less support personnel all over the world. It's because of their business model.

Developer-friendly cloud provider
- Costs are easily predicted, so budget estimation is more accurate.
- The architecture was defined around available products at the time. With new product offerings, we feel forced to migrate to more robust solutions which adds some cost, but also adds reliability to our infrastructure.
- Documentation and community docs were a great resource to help us build our architecture.
- DigitalOcean is one of the few things that just works, and it's reasonably priced.
- DigitalOcean has very competitive egress pricing, which has been positive for reducing our costs when running services with a large amounts of data transfer
- DigitalOcean templates have helped us quickly launch services that would otherwise require a lot of configuration (saving time)
- We haven't had much in the way of negative ROI impacts using DigitalOcean as we don't use it extensively for our core product, but based on personal project experience it can require more engineering time to get up and running with than some other infrastructure services like Heroku. This has been one of the greatest barriers in pushing its adoption in our organization.

I was able to get setup with DigitalOcean completely in a span of hours. The client was happy and the team was happy. All for $10/mo and a few hours of my time.

- Positive - Elastic computer instances make it possible to pay for only for what you need.
- Positive - Competitive pricing - some of the products that DigitalOcean offers are much cheaper than those offered by competitors.
- Negative - Having to go to other cloud computing platforms for more specific, advanced services like Computer Vision optimized services, GPU cloud compute instances, etc...

Dive in! As long as you've got the training and/or team
- Reduced hosting cost
- Have been some hardware issues that needed to be addressed with support
- Ease of development environment setup
- They let me offer my clients a better, fully private hosting option, at a fraction of the price, compared to the budget shared hosting plan they currently have.
- It is easy to use, with a clean interface, making services quick and useful.
- Everything takes less time to setup, you can even add SSH keys via the web interface, rather than generating and adding them vie a SSH shell. Less time equals more profit for me, and smaller bills for my clients.
