DonorPerfect is a versatile donor management database widely used across organizations for various purposes. Users rely on DonorPerfect to track donors, donations, and donor stewardship, as well as committee membership and board member terms. The software allows for customization by adding new fields and enables users to search through reports for valuable insights. Integration with Constant Contact is highly valued, as it allows for easy segmentation of donor lists for targeted email communications. Additionally, the form builder tool facilitates the creation of web forms to collect donor information.

One of the key benefits of DonorPerfect is its ability to centralize all donor and donation records, eliminating the need for multiple databases or spreadsheets. This feature ensures that all data is saved and encrypted off-site, meeting state requirements for data security. Users praise DonorPerfect's support team for their prompt assistance and guidance, which further enhances the user experience. The comprehensive overview of donors and their donations provided by DonorPerfect aids organizations in achieving their fundraising goals. Many organizations consider DonorPerfect a cost-effective alternative to other software packages like Raiser's Edge and Compass 360. Furthermore, DonorPerfect's integration with tools such as ReadySetAuction and Constant Contact proves beneficial for efficient donor management, fundraising campaigns, and effective communication strategies.

In practical use cases, DonorPerfect plays a crucial role in tracking donations received through various channels such as mail and fundraising events. It allows nonprofit organizations to maintain accurate records of giving history, manage donations effectively, and streamline gift entering processes. The software also assists in generating thank you letters and receipts while managing contact information for program participants. DonorPerfect is utilized to track not only donors but also volunteers, gifts, and event attendance across multiple departments within organizations.

Furthermore, DonorPerfect helps organizations stay organized by providing a centralized platform for membership management, development operations, event planning, volunteer coordination, and more. Its reporting capabilities enable organizations to track fundraising event revenues, donor giving at each donation bracket, and generate monthly financial reports and annual reports for auditors. Users appreciate the user-friendly interface and variety of options that cater specifically to the needs of nonprofits.

DonorPerfect is used by a wide range of organizations—from small nonprofits to educational institutions—looking to address their specific needs in donor management, fundraising, and contact management. For instance, a private elementary school uses DonorPerfect to record and track donations for fundraising campaigns and events. Integration with ReadySetAuction and QuickBooks further enhances their financial tracking processes.

These examples illustrate just a few of the many ways organizations leverage DonorPerfect's features and functionality to streamline donor management processes, increase fundraising efforts, and maintain strong donor relationships. With its wide range of capabilities and integrations with other tools, DonorPerfect offers a comprehensive solution for tracking donors, managing donations, generating reports, and facilitating effective communication strategies.

User-Friendly Interface: Many users have stated that the software's user interface is intuitive and easy to navigate. They have mentioned that it is a breeze to use and has made their tasks less burdensome. The presence of 'help' buttons and drop-down lists next to each section of the software has been appreciated by users as it provides explanations and makes it easy to select options.

Seamless Integration with Constant Contact: Several users have praised the software for its integration with Constant Contact, which allows for easy integration with their existing email marketing system. This feature has been found valuable by users as it streamlines their communication efforts with donors.

Comprehensive Donor Profile Management: Users have highlighted the software's ability to maintain a complete profile of donors, including the option to add notes and track interactions. This feature has been particularly useful for keeping track of donor information and managing relationships effectively.

Confusing User Interface: Many users have expressed frustration with the confusing and difficult-to-navigate user interface of DonorPerfect, stating that it makes tasks cumbersome and time-consuming. They find it challenging to locate specific features or perform actions efficiently.

Lack of Customization Options in Reporting: Some users find the lack of customization options in reporting to be a drawback. They mention that they struggle to generate the specific reports they need for their organizations. The limited flexibility in customizing report parameters hinders their ability to analyze data effectively.

Tricky Navigation of Customs Forms: Users mention finding the customs forms in DonorPerfect tricky to navigate initially. They highlight the importance of support service in helping them understand and complete these forms accurately. The complex navigation process can lead to errors and delays when managing donor information through customs forms.

Based on user feedback, there are three common recommendations for DonorPerfect. Firstly, users suggest utilizing the self-hosted version of the software for cost-effective tracking of fundraising data and managing donor information. Secondly, they recommend requesting a demo and seeking feedback from other organizations to better understand the software's features and benefits. Additionally, users appreciate the excellent phone support provided by DonorPerfect and find the screens easy to read. However, they also suggest implementing customer feedback to improve customization options for fields and streamline the reporting feature. Overall, users highly recommend DonorPerfect for fundraising purposes.

Donor Perfect continually makes updates to allow us to improve our donor retention through better donor communications and records.
  • Show attrition rates.
  • Help point out strengths and weaknesses in the organization's fundraising.
  • Enable quick and tailored email thank-you's.
  • Helps identify donors with uploaded photo to donor record
  • Allows personalized video thank you's
  • Some desired reports can prove complicated to perform and require outside consultants for an extra expense.
  • Email thank-you's will not allow installation of a widget to directly access forms, only links to a webpage.
  • The program closes too soon during inactivity prompting the user to login multiple times daily.
I love that we can upload a photo of our donors to their record! Along with the ability to breakdown contacts for a particular campaign by steps taken with each meeting ( for example: presented campaign materials in virtual meeting, showed campaign video, etc) along with corresponding notes as to what materials they were sent, what suggestions they had, their photo ensures that we'll be easily able to remember them when they next visit our facility!

It is used by the Development Department to track donations, donors and interactions with donors. It address raising money for an organization and methods to track the raising of money. We use it for both cash and in-kind donations as well as moves management with donors and prospects.
  • DonorPerfect is easy to use. I have trained volunteers and employees in under an hour on the basics of tracking name and address information. For a small organization, it is a good stable platform that will get any Development Department to speed quickly.
  • It also does a good job of letting an individual track movements with a prospect or donor. From meeting or phone call notes to next steps, it does a pretty good right within the system, so you don't need extra reports.
  • Their support team is really good about staying on top of issues and answering questions quickly whether it's through the Chat feature or telephone support. Their webinar trainings are another way for new users to get up to speed quickly.
  • Some of the ways they handle online donations could be improved. One section requires a tribute or memorial fields in the donation and not every donation is like that so I believe it confuses the donor. They have yet to find a remedy to that in my knowledge.
  • Some of their reports or structures within the reports cause some issues. For donations that are split between different programs, the donations do not appear in some reports which can be confusing
  • Would like to see their duplicate maintenance system improved. Sometimes it does not catch all the duplicates within the system if one runs the report on just name and address.
I think DonorPerfect is suited for all development operations, but I think small to mid-size organizations is where it shines. It is easy to use and one can get started on the most important aspects of fundraising - thanking donors and tracking donations. This can happen very quickly with DonorPerfect. A Development Department can then build relationships from there using the contact tab. There are a very of reports that team members can use as well.
  • Easy of Use
  • Simple to Navigate
  • Can do most everything required in Development
  • I think it has a positive return on investment, particularly in the on-line giving phase where DonorPerfect and its partners helped reduce transaction costs from what we had been paying.
  • Overall, I think it has helped our business objectives from a fund raising point of view.
  • The Raisers Edge and eTapestry
DonorPerfect stacks well up against other software. It is competitively priced, stable having been in business for many years. Always looking to update and improve its product.

I used DonorPerfect before and its fees, particularly on online donations were less than what we were paying with another provider. The other provider was similar but I preferred DonorPerfect and it was cheaper overall.

Yes, they looked at our old data.
Reviewed our old data then did a trial run to make sure everything was good.
Then implemented the old data into the system.
Change management was a minor issue with the implementation
I would have cleaned up the original data better than I did.
We brought over a lot of unnecessary information from the old system.
  • Old data was inconsistent
  • Brought over more fields than we really needed from the old system
I would have handled my old data differently before transferring it.
It is mostly good and responsive. Sometimes I can't get on the chat feature.
No, didn't feel I needed it.
It's easy to use and I can get anyone up to speed with it in about an hour.
  • Easy to put donor information in
  • Easy to do gift transactions
  • Easy to record donor information and meeting information
  • The links between records aren't always clear
  • The duplicate maintenance is a bit cumbersome
Yes
The mobile interface is good if you are out of the office and need donor information quick.

DonorPerfect is being used across the whole organization. It allows each department to individually customize the processing of donor data.

For those departments which have people who are comfortable with SQL or are adept at using the filter design tools, Donorperfect provides often design shared filters which the other departments can easily access and use. The advantages of online access to shared information is most advantageous and benefits the whole organization.
  • DonorPerfect has responded to bugs in the online software with patches which makes software use easier.
  • DonorPerfect permits data filter sharing among different departments in the same organization which not only benefits each department but the whole organization.
  • DonorPerfect easily allows data analysis. This is most beneficial in better targeting of donors.
  • The only area of which I am aware that DonorPefect has room for improvement is in its handling of data that includes extended ASCII characters necessary for the Spanish language and Hispanic names. When accents (á, é, í, ó, ú), tildes (ñ, Ñ) and special punctuation characters (¡, ¿) are used in the database, there are consequences. Since the majority of the departments in our organization deal exclusively with Hispanics, this becomes an issue.
I would recommend DonorPerfect without hesitation to non-profit organizations that deal with English speaking donors only.

I would recommend DonorPerfect with reservations to non-profit organizations that deal with Spanish speaking donors.
  • At this point in time, any positive or negative impact on ROI that our department has noticed has not been attributable to DonorPerfect but rather to marketing and public relations efforts on the part of our staff. Should a campaign be launched by the administration of our department to better target donors using DonorPerfect this might cause a positive impact on the ROI attributable to DonorPerfect.
DonorPerfect is specifically adapted to nonprofit donor constituent management which makes it more easily used by the staff of our organization.

The best support for our organization is provided by someone who knows Spanish and the Spanish culture, is familiar with SQL, is familiar with databases and is familiar with networking over the Internet.
  • Receipting the donors
  • Massaging the donor data
  • Mass mailings
  • A series of mass mailings that targeted market research of various groups of donors.
  • DonorPerfect lends itself to targeting donors who have email addresses and doing special promotions among this group of donors. This is an area that will not only be more cost effective but product as well.
DonorPerfect has proved itself to be very beneficial and any change would not be warranted.
Yes
Microsoft Access was replaced by DonorPerfect. DonorPerfect was more mobile and friendlier. It is specifically adapted to nonprofit constituent relationship management which probably was the primary reason for replacing Microsoft Access with DonorPerfect. The online tutorials and support were very helpful to the staff who are using DonorPerfect. It became the organizational database 5 years ago.

The single most important factor in the decision was product features that were adapted to nonprofit constituent management.

Partial changeover followed by complete changeover.
Change management was a big part of the implementation and was well-handled
A change manager that interfaces well with the people in an organization is very important.
  • Adjusting to the language limitations of DonorPerfect with "work-arounds".
No.
  • I like the use of SQL in the Selection Filters to give maximum versatility in massaging the data.
  • I like the ability to save export templates for later use when there are a fair number of templates that are in use.

DonorPerfect is currently our donor management database. We store all of our donor information as well as financial support.
  • Donor information database.
  • Financial information management.
  • Reporting.
  • Donor cash batch input. This is a very tedious and manpower intensive task that could be easily resolved. Most of the faith based competitors as well as Quickbooks have what is called a memorized gift. DonorPerfect does not have it nor will they provide one. They continue to ignore the many requests for improvement.
I believe DonorPerfect is well suited for 1 to 10 million revenue organizations. They have a fairly decent credit card processing system. It is not suited for strictly cash based organizations.
  • DonorPerfect provides a reliable, functional and versatile out of the box application. That is all any organization can ask for.
Donor.com - antiquated and unreliable. DonorPerfect has recently moved all operations to a more reliable hosted environment. And they release new versions of their software quarterly. Salesforce.com - really strong Fortune 500 org that gives their software to non-profits. The cost to modify, improve and support the application far exceeds their generous donation. DonorPerfect has almost all the functionality needed for our org out of the box. Included in the relatively low cost of ownership is a support team that can fix most basic functionality and train in small cases. Denari - weak support and very few updates. It does have a more superior cash batch input.

Minimal. I was able to design and implement the business processes within Donorperfects functionality. Training was completed with each person in a mater of a few hours.
  • Credit card processing. They have a very nice recurring credit card processing interface complete with very useful reports.
  • Cash batch processing. DonorPerfect does provide a nice basic batch process however it doesn't support a very good recurring cash batch process. I was able to develop a usable system however it is very time consuming and labor intensive. I have given them some very good alternatives and practices that competitors use but they are very comfortable in ignoring mine and many other very thoughtful suggestions in this area.
  • Report: they have a very good basic report system. The more expensive has been released but not ready for prime time in my opinion.
  • None
  • it's hard for me to imagine. DonorPerfect for the most part provides a very quality product in the non-profit space.
DonorPerfect is the best solution for our needs.
Yes
Denari: this product has a very poor support team. They can help you but their turnaround time is not efficient for our organization. The web interface is what really killed them. I've been in IT for nearly 30 years and needed all that experience to create a recurring donation. There is no way to determine how much partnership and revenue we have lost due to this very poor interface. DonorPerfect has a two alternatives to help in this area. DonorPages which works well for many organizations and DonorShops which is an excellent partner and choice for anybody that uses product based or sponsor based donations.

security for credit cards is a manual process, because of PCI compliance we phased cash donors and new web donors first. Then after many phone calls were able to migrate credit and ACH donors. This is part of the process and unavoidable.
Change management was minimal
  • None this was the best implementation that this organization has had.
DonorPerfect provides an extremely easy to use importing tool and the support team was awesome. You don't have to do it in house; for a reasonable fee you can get it done by them.

I was able to utilize the support team to train me in areas where I could not figure out how to use the application.
Very thoughtful, thorough and informative.
The product is very intuitive and for anybody with a image capturing software like Snagit you can easy write and train your team.
DonorPefect fits our needs very well.
No they have a good overall interface to support most of our needs.
Some - we have done small customizations to the interface
very easy to change fields displayed and how they respond to use.
No - we have not done any custom code
No
basic support is good for now.
The support team is excellent. But once it goes to development that is when almost all issues go into a black hole.
Yes
the only resolve bugs in releases. But I've had a few that were not resolved in a timely or satisfactory way.
During my migration period this support team not only answered but even developed solutions to aid me in my goals.
  • Credit card. Great interface and very informative reports
  • Reporting- to use for someone with fairly strong SQL knowledge. They have a very nice way to set filters and share the same report displaying different data based on the filter.
  • Donor management - very robust and customizable.
  • Cash batch input. The templates are tricky and sometimes even disables the functionality. This is random and when it is fixed most of the time it is fixed with no explanation as to how! The interface is very cumbersome and counter intuitive. Repeated suggestions die on the vine. I even talked to the 5 top executives at the last conference and feel no more confident that they really care or will even investigate my request.
Yes
It's new. This will require some time to mature. It does have a really nice CC interface with a swipe device.
Poor cash batch interface. Almost half of our receipts are generated by cash and this interface does not support our needs very well.
[There have been] only two outages since we have started using it and they were extremely information proactive. This should scale easily based on your internet connection.
It's always up when we need it. There are some errors that happen and are not reproducible and cannot be resolved. But [they are] very few and none that cause disruption for the organization.
DonorPerfect is as reliable as your internet connection. It is a cloud based application and therefore you cannot pinpoint where the bottleneck is should you have one. But for the most part the app runs quickly.
  • DonorShops
  • Constant Contact
DonorShops and Constant Contact were a requirement, and integrate seamlessly and perfectly.
  • None
All of my vendors (aka partners) seem to happy with their integration partnership.
  • File import/export
It just worked.
Stay with as much out of the box functionality as possible. As an organization we do not support what I refer to as "shadow IT groups". This is people that want to build applications that are not connected to store data in a single database. Most just want to be programmers or programmers that were hired for the wrong reasons. They will always create conflict within the business.
They provided me with a usable demo application. They gave me the ability to make a wise decision. BTW they are a Partner NOT a vendor. They are as much a part of our team as I am.
They are not very willing to help me with our outstanding challenge. Which is cash batch input.
They have a very flat cash outlay for the product.
Be flexible. You might not be able to understand all of your needs until you implement.

  • Reporting versatility is great.
  • Import option works great.
  • I do not fully understand the compound criteria for reporting.
  • Continue tips would be helpful.
  • DonorPages is still a bit clunky.
DonorPerfect works great for our organization--I actually did some research two years ago and we found that for the price--it is a great option. Again, the reporting is an area that I would like to know more about and receive better training.
  • It has been a resource tool in our development and fundraising efforts.
  • Entry is fast and receipting is quick and so our turn-around is within 24 hours and we are sending out a receipt.
  • Our donors have confidence that we are processing gifts accurately.
For the price and ease of use - DonorPerfect came out on top. I did not select DonorPerfect---the organization I work for has been using it for several years now.
